A Solemn Appeal for Theological Discernment and Pastoral Action Regarding the Heretical Teachings of Joseph Prince
Dear Esteemed Leaders of the Church in Singapore, Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church.
With a heavy yet steadfast heart,
we write to address a pressing concern
that can no longer be ignored.
The heretical teachings of Joseph Prince,
propagated through New Creation Church,
have spread unchecked for far too long,
leading countless souls astray.
As shepherds and watchmen of God’s flock,
we are called to protect the truth
and guard the Church from deception.
The Lord’s warning in Ezekiel 3:17–18 is clear and sobering:
“Son of man, I have made you a watchman…
if you do not warn them…
their blood I will require at your hand.”
It is deeply concerning that New Creation Church
remains a registered member
of the National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS),
despite repeated appeals to our esteemed leaders
to address this issue.
To date, the NCCS has issued no official statement or letter
to churches defending the one true Gospel
against these distortions.
This silence risks emboldening those
who preach a counterfeit grace,
undermining the very foundation of our faith.
In contrast, the Ethos Institute for Public Christianity
has taken a courageous stand
by publishing articles on their website
that directly confront Joseph Prince’s false teachings.
Their efforts to uphold biblical truth
serve as a clarion call to the Church
to rise and contend for the faith entrusted to us (Jud. 1:3).
We cannot afford to stand idly by
while deceptive teachings lead God’s people
toward spiritual ruin.
I urgently implore the NCCS to act decisively
– publicly address these heresies,
warn the churches, and protect the flock.
The eternal destiny of many hangs in the balance.
Let us fulfil our sacred duty as watchmen,
trusting in the Holy Spirit to guide us
in defending the truth of the Gospel.
The False Gospel of Joseph Prince:
Joseph Prince’s so-called “Grace Revolution”
is not the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
It is a distorted gospel that Paul himself condemned:
He denies the moral law’s binding authority, contradicting the teaching of Christ (Matt. 5:17-20) and the apostles (Rom. 3:31; Jas. 2:10-12).
He empties repentance of its true meaning, redefining it as a mere “change of mind” without a call to holiness, contrary to John the Baptist (Matt. 3:8) and Jesus (Mk 1:15).
He teaches believers need not confess sin, openly rejecting 1 John 1:8-9 and dulling the conscience of God’s people.
This is not Christianity.
This is antinomianism dressed in the language of grace.
It is a heresy that lures many
to destruction with smooth words.
The Responsibility of the Councils:
Silence in the face of such heresy is not neutrality
– it is complicity.
The Church of Singapore must speak.
If the NCCS and APCCS do not draw a clear line,
the world will assume that Singaporean Christianity
endorses Joseph Prince’s false gospel.
Paul’s warning could not be more urgent:
“But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed.” (Gal. 1:8).
If the councils remain silent,
Singapore’s churches will be guilty
of allowing heresy to go forth
under the banner of Christ unchallenged.
The dishonour this brings to the Name of Jesus Christ
cannot be overstated.
A Call to Immediate Action:
Therefore, I appeal with urgency:
1. Publicly denounce Joseph Prince’s teaching as heresy and declare that it does not represent the faith of the Church in Singapore.
2. Issue pastoral guidance to protect congregations from the spiritual destruction of antinomianism.
3. Call Joseph Prince to repentance with boldness, lest he continue to deceive multitudes under the banner of Singaporean Christianity.
4. Make this position known internationally, so that the Body of Christ worldwide knows that Singapore stands with the true Gospel.
A Final Word of Warning:
The Lord Jesus Christ will not hold His shepherds guiltless
if they fail to guard His flock.
As the prophet cried, so must we:
“How long will you go limping
between two different opinions?
If the Lord is God, follow him;” (1 Kgs. 18:21).
Now is the time to act.
Now is the time to expose darkness with light.
To delay is to betray the trust
given by the Chief Shepherd Himself.
May the Spirit grant courage and conviction,
that the councils of the Church in Singapore
may rise in defence of the one true Gospel.

The following
are for the National Leaders of the Singapore churches,
and also, ourselves, as leaders,
to reflect on:
Response No 1
In ‘Swindoll’s Living Insights, New Testament Commentary, Romans,’
Charles Swindoll wrote:
“… when boars invade God’s vineyard,
leaders must not remain passive.
They must act swiftly, firmly, and decisively.
Unfortunately, leaders must remove
such destructive people from the congregation
in order to preserve the integrity of the body.
Boars, if allowed to run loose, bring disorder,
promote distrust and create serious messes.
Leaders rarely confront divisive people
and false teachers,
and even more rarely follow through by removing them.
Sometimes they fear criticism;
usually, they unwisely hope
the problem will resolve itself if ignored.
They also fear that confrontation and separation
will lead to the loss of some church members.
In reality, leaders cannot prevent the loss of members
either way.
However, by acting swiftly and decisively,
they can limit the damage.
The longer they wait, the larger the rift will become
and the larger the destruction will be.”
George Ong’s comments:
That’s where batch after batch
of the National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS)
throughout the years
didn’t do anything to the heresies of Joseph Prince,
allowing Joseph Prince to spread his wings
that his heresies have influenced the world.
But enough is enough!
It’s time to act!
Response No 2
It was Charles Spurgeon who said,
“To pursue union
at the expense of truth
is treason to the Lord Jesus.”
George Ong’s comments:
Yes indeed; Pastors and churches
who have compromised truth
for the sake of a false unity
with false teachers like Joseph Prince,
have indeed committed treason against the Lord.
Response No 3
In ‘An Exposition of Romans Chapter 10 Saving Faith,’
Martyn Lloyd-Jones said:
“In the past, heretics
were condemned by the church and excommunicated.
And it is because the church does not do the same thing today,
that she is in such a parlous, helpless and useless condition.”
George Ong’s comments:
In the light of what Martyn Lloyd-Jones had said,
why is the National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS)
still not acting against Joseph Prince,
allowing a heretic to remain under her membership,
and letting him to continue
to deceive and devour the sheep?
Response No 4:
Let me quote what Dietrich Bonhoeffer,
who dared to speak up and,
who refused to compromise his convictions
for the sake of safety and self-preservation, wrote:
“Silence in the face of evil
is itself evil.
God will not hold us guiltless.
Not to speak is to speak.
Not to act is to act.”
George Ong’s comments:
Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s words have indeed searched us
to the depths of our being.
If we remain silent about the evil
that Joseph Prince is doing to the Singapore flock,
whose heresies are leading droves of people
to the lake of fire, then,
we are guilty of committing evil itself.
