Rev Derek Hong’s call for Pastors in Singapore to call out the heretical teachings of Joseph Prince – By Rev George Ong (Dated 30 Aug 2023)

Did Joseph Prince respond to my article I wrote against him

about him living to 120 years?

on 25 August 2023, 2 Sundays ago?

Yes, he did in his sermon on 27 August 2023, 3 days ago.

As you would realise,

Joseph Prince’s response was terribly weak.

It didn’t seek to counter any of my arguments at all,

and it was more a childish hit-back

to vent his frustration because his pride and ego were hurt.

So, don’t miss the next article, coming your way:

“Joseph Prince’s deceitful speech and lies disqualified him from living to 120 & he said he loved his critics but made fun of them.”

Today’s Article

An excerpt of what Rev Derek Hong wrote in this article:

“RuPaul Drag Queen show is not just neutral entertainment…

RuPaul is an aggressive propaganda force

driving the homosexual activist agenda

to change laws and culture.

Should a hugely expensive piece of property (Star Vista),

funded by the tithes and offerings of church-goers,

be used to host a show

that displays homosexual expressions as normal

when Scripture clearly stated as unacceptable?

Or have our minds become so blinded

that right and wrong, true or false, good or bad

no longer matters?”

An excerpt of what Michael Brown wrote in this article:

“Drag queens performing in our churches.

If anything was a sign that God has given America over to depravity,

it is this.

Rampant porn addiction is bad enough,

as is the redefining of the very meaning of marriage.

Radicals shouting their abortions

and the government openly

advocating for the chemical castration

and genital mutilation of confused children

is yet another telltale sign.

But the drag queen depravity

goes one step further.

It celebrates that which is shameful

and normalizes that which is perverse.

And it does so in the most exaggerated,

even overtly demonic form,

with Drag Queens wearing Satanic horns

while reading to tiny little children.”

An excerpt of what George Ong wrote in this article:

“Was the congregation in New Creation Church told

that their tithes and offerings

which many may have sacrificially given to the church

would, as Rev Derek Hong said;

“be used to host a show

that displays homosexual expressions as normal

when Scripture clearly stated as unacceptable?”

In relation to this issue,

someone commented on one of my YouTube videos:

“He meant meditate on God’s word day and night

but sorry he has no control

over the use of the theatre the church owned

… so if they want to do a striptease show,

he can’t say no…

Imagine a striptease show on Saturday

and a worship service the next day

on the same stage and venue.

He’s allowing Satan to give God a slap in the face…”

Rev Derek Hong wrote:

“I believe it’s time leadership in the Body of Christ

calls out the falsehoods

coming from the hyper-grace teachings.

Three issues surfaced without my seeking them.

They are the reasons that drove me to this point.

1. Some years ago, a friend told me

that Joseph Prince preached that if a Christian continues to sin

or even recants his faith in Christ and joins another religion,

he can still be saved.

I was shocked

but was not sure whether my friend heard correctly

or what the context was when that statement was made.

However, a few weeks ago,

a visitor came to my church

who had been in New Creation for 20 years.

I asked him whether he heard Joseph Prince preach that.

To my surprise, he confirmed he was taught that,

and in fact bought into it.

Now, we are not talking about people

who may not have really believed in Christ

but people baptized and been going to church faithfully for years.

Within the next couple of weeks,

I had two other persons,

one of whom is a pastor from overseas

confirm they have heard Joseph Prince preached that.

The person who visited my church

told me Joseph Prince also mentioned that,

at the throne of Judgement,

Christians who sinned without repentance

will only suffer some loss of rewards, not their salvation.

2. Last week, I received a video clip

where Joseph Prince reiterated

that a Christian under pressure can recant his faith

and not become “unsaved”.

Please click here

to view the video on Joseph Prince:

“What’s going to happen when a believer under pressure, or whatever,

he renounces his faith or Jesus, and all that;

we are not to judge who is saved, who is not.

But the thing is that – if he renounces even his faith,

does he become unsaved?

Alright, so, if he can,

then what Adam did

is more powerful again than what Jesus did.”

In other words, when someone threatens you with death

to renounce Jesus Christ and you do so,

you will still be saved.

Both these positions are totally contrary

to the very words of our Lord Jesus Christ

and the Apostle Paul.

Mark 8:38 (NLT)

If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”

Matthew 16:25 (NKJV)

For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.

2 Timothy 2:12 (NKJV)

If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.

This kind of teaching induces a fear-filled and survivor mindset.

The Chinese in Singapore call it the “kia see” syndrome, literally afraid to die.

The end product is a spineless, cowardly churchgoer.

What does God’s Word say about this?

Revelation 21:7–8 (NKJV)

He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”

The Greek word for cowardly is δειλός (deilos).

It can also be translated as fearful

which leads to the same thing.

A fearful person will betray and deny Jesus Christ under pressure.

Jesus classified the “kia see” people

with those who are murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters and liars

who will end up in hell.

Joseph Prince has intentionally and consistently omitted

these uncomfortable verses from his doctrine.

Almost every book in the New Testament

was written to Christians threatened with,

or living under persecution.

It also demonstrates that Joseph Prince either does not know

or he deliberately ignores (which is worse) Church history.

Throughout the centuries,

untold numbers of true followers of Jesus Christ

have willingly laid down their lives for their faith

rather than escape persecution.

From the time of our first martyr, Stephen in the book of Acts, up till today

Christians are the still most discriminated and persecuted people on earth.

In fact, the growth of Christianity

has been largely attributed to believers

who stayed true through thick or thin for Jesus,

giving credence to His reality

in the lives of those who truly love Him.

3. This was the last straw.

I saw New Creation is renting out their Star Theatre

to host the world’s biggest drag queen show

called RuPaul on 7 September 2023.

Now when I asked people who attended their services,

many of them didn’t know about it.

Those who do rationalised by saying

it’s like running a restaurant

where the owner should not discriminate

against customers who are pro-LGBTQ.

From this answer,

one can tell that such church-goers

have little or no understanding

of the political and social agenda of LGBTQ activism,

as they have never been properly instructed by their pastor.

The church doesn’t really care

about issues like public morality and legislation

that impact future generations.

They rather concentrate on “bless me” and “feel good” outcomes.

The difference between what a restaurant owner and what NCC does is this.

A customer of the restaurant eats, pays and goes.

He is not putting on a performance that promotes an unbiblical lifestyle.

RuPaul Drag Queen show is not just neutral entertainment.

By the way, increasingly, no entertainment is.

Entertainment is the world’s pulpit to preach lifestyles and values.

RuPaul is an aggressive propaganda force

driving the homosexual activist agenda

to change laws and culture.

Should a hugely expensive piece of property,

funded by the tithes and offerings of church-goers,

be used to host a show

that displays homosexual expressions as normal

when Scripture clearly stated as unacceptable?

Or have our minds become so blinded

that right and wrong, true of false, good or bad

no longer matters?

I can now see that this is a no-guilt, no-repentance,

no-commitment, no-sacrifice philosophy.

It dulls the conscience of its believers

and desensitises people from sin and character faults.

Attempts to grow in righteousness and holiness

are deemed as “works” and dismissed as legalism.

That’s why people always say

they feel good coming out of their services.

A guy who’s divorced because of adultery says he joined

because he’s already been forgiven

without any repentance or honest examination

of how he might have contributed

to the breakdown of his marriage in the first place.

He continues to live with girl-friends merrily

while attending the church

and gets upset when friends confront him

about his ungodly practices.

A pastor friend running a family counselling centre

told me that a counselee from NCC

stomped off a session,

accusing him of condemning her

when he warned her

not to continue in an unhealthy relationship with another man

while complaining about the unfaithfulness of her husband.

I can narrate a few more stories of people from NCC

who would react angrily

when informed that certain behaviours

are contrary to Christ’s teachings.

To be fair, not everyone who attends NCC is like that,

nor that in other churches

we don’t have members who are similar in attitude and behaviour.

But here we are focusing on the teachings

that can reinforce blatant disobedience,

not comparing churches.

Because of its immense appeal, if left unchecked,

this doctrine will continue to undermine the foundations

of true discipleship and the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

The root of these falsehoods

lies in taking texts out of contexts

and a limited understanding, or worse,

a selective application of the Hebraic language and worldview.

For a start, the Hebraic worldview is integrated.

Faith and faithfulness go together.

You will behave in accordance to what you believe.

The Greek mindset, of which much of Western theology belong to,

is compartmentalised.

Action and belief are separated by time and circumstance.

I have heard people say they can believe and not need to be water-baptised.

Jesus says

“anyone who believes and is baptised will be saved…” (Mark 16:16)

And of course the Apostle James states categorically

that faith without works is dead.

He is definitely not saying that one is saved by his works

but if one does not develop godly character traits and behaviour,

one cannot claim to be following Jesus Christ.

Joseph Prince also exercises

an arbitrary and unsubstantiated practice

of classifying Scripture.

He will assert that

some parts of the New Testament were addressed to Christians

and some to non-Christians.

For instance, I once heard

that he ascribed 1 John chapter 1

as written for non-Christians

while the rest are for Christians.

The reason for that is because of 1 John 1:8–9 (NLT) which reads:

If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”

Joseph Prince preaches that one does not need to confess and repent of sins committed today

because all sins – past, present and future have already be forgiven.

One only needs to thank Jesus.

In contrast, 1 John 1:9 says that we need to confess (present tense) to be cleansed.

To confess is to own up honestly to a sin or ungodly act or word before God.

This requires humility but builds character strength

as it causes us to face up to,

confront and correct our moral and spiritual failings

by the power of the Holy Spirit.

This is also the kind of works James talks about.

But, in order to support his error,

Joseph Prince arbitrarily declared 1 John 1 is for non-Christians.

Any Bible student of worth will tell you

that all the books of the New Testament

were written to and for Christians.

Thus, you won’t hear Joseph Prince

do a thorough and systematic exposition

of a whole book of the Bible

as this would force him to deal with verses

that challenge his belief system.

Another gross practice is the flagrant disregard

of the rules of Bible interpretation or hermeneutics.

As we know, one can make the Bible say anything we want.

A text out of context is a pretext.

He once mentioned that Leah was a slave woman, which is false.

Leah, like Rachel, was a free woman.

Without any support, he also declared

that the 10 sons of Leah

and the two slave women, Bilhah and Zilpha,

represent the Ten Commandments,

therefore it’s law

while Rachel is grace!

To make it sound plausible,

he said he is speaking prophetically.

To me, this is irresponsible and very serious.

Holy Scripture is being manipulated to advance his hyper-grace theory.

It is insidious as this is what cult and sect leaders do with the Bible.

People often argue that if Joseph Prince is not anointed by God,

how can he be so successful?

To put things into perspective,

not everything he teaches is wrong.

But where he is wrong

are serious deviations of Biblical truth.

Some of his errors

distort the fundamentals of orthodox

and time-tested Christian theology.

As has been pointed out,

the no-guilt, no-repentance, no commitment

and no-sacrifice framework

is very enticing.

Joseph Prince is a great communicator and sells himself well.

But numbers do not determine truth or integrity.

There are many cults and religions with huge followings,

some even have miracles accompanying.

In Phil 1:15-17

the Apostle Paul said that people preached Christ out of different motives, some good and others not honourable.

Then in verse 18 he says,

Philippians 1:18 (NLT) “But that doesn’t matter. Whether their motives are false or genuine, the message about Christ is being preached either way, so I rejoice. And I will continue to rejoice.”

For a long time, I held on to this Scripture (see above)

whenever I think or hear people talk about Joseph Prince.

But because of the enormity of what I now see,

I am compelled to do my duty as a pastor of the city

to highlight the dangers many believers are in.

Last but not least,

even as I point one finger at what is wrong with someone,

I’m very conscious three other fingers

point back at myself and what I represent.

If anyone takes a long hard look at my church and ministry,

he can also find flaws and errors.

I see prideful and often harshly controlling environments,

of which I was also a part.

Many are guilty of turning ministries

into self-serving platforms for fame and fortune,

neglecting the poor and marginalised in our midst.

People and staff are used, and then brutally discarded,

not unlike the many impersonal cruel profit-driven entities of the pagan world.

We spend more to aggrandize and protect

our denominational traditions and church branding

than on efforts to reach out to the broken and oppressed of society.

Our insecurities and drivenness have produced much hurt

and have pushed many

into the comfortable embrace of these heretical beliefs.

For this, I repent and seek God’s mercy and forgiveness.

My plea is that Joseph Prince, and the rest of us,

humbly return and submit to the whole counsel of God.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Rev Derek Hong

George Ong’s comments

1. May many more Pastors and Leaders in Singapore, like Rev Derek Hong, arise to contend against and expose the heresies of Joseph Prince.

Rev Derek Hong wrote:

“To make it sound plausible,

he said he (Joseph Prince) is speaking prophetically.

coming from the hyper-grace teachings…

But because of the enormity of what I now see,

I am compelled to do my duty as a pastor of the city

to highlight the dangers many believers are in.”

David Pawson said:

“And frankly, I’m here in Singapore

because of one wrong meaning of that word (grace),

because two years I was in South Africa

and every church I went to was talking about grace

but in a rather unusual way

and a way that was dangerous,

a way that was mixing a lot of truth with some poisonous error.

It is that mixture which can so easily deceive people.

And I said to them after a bit,

‘Where did you all get all this from?’

The simple answer was

‘Singapore.’

And at that time,

I found a burden in my heart for Singapore.

 David Pawson further said,

“And I have to say that this third understanding of grace (Pseudo-grace),

which can be found in America,

is spreading throughout the world

from this city (of Singapore) …

It is widespread.

It (Pseudo-grace) originated in America,

but it’s got a huge hold here in Singapore

and is spreading through the internet

throughout the world.

And everywhere I go to preach, I come across it.”

David Pawson, a world-renowned Bible teacher,

who is well-respected by many

across denominations and theological persuasions,

labelled Joseph Prince’s grace doctrine

as dangerous and poisonous error that deceives.

Something that endangers is life-threatening.

Only a little poison is enough to kill.

One who deceives is a follower of the devil (Rev 20:10; Acts 13:10).

If the verdict of David Pawson on Joseph Prince’s teaching

is one that endangers, kills and deceives,

how can Joseph Prince be preaching the true gospel?

If David Pawson had the burden

to come all the way to Singapore some years ago

because of the dangerous, poisonous

and deceptive grace doctrine

of Joseph Prince that kills,

what has the Singapore Church been doing

to curb the spread of such heresies?

Because of the nonchalant inaction

by the Singapore Church Leadership,

the deadly virus of Joseph Prince’s heresy

had not only infected Singapore

but also around the world.

What has happened over the last many years is heartrending

and an indictment against the Singapore Church leadership (myself included).

This is because

Instead of being the Antioch of Asia,

Singapore is now more popularly and shamefully known

as the world’s number one exporter

of the Joseph Prince’s grace heresy.

But thank God for individual Pastors

like Rev David Liew, who wrote:

“If we really love our flock and care for those around us,

we need to speak up and warn people about it (Joseph Prince’s heresy).

We need to expose false teachers and their false teachings.

We are our brother’s keeper whether we like it or not.

For those who are spiritual leaders,

we are God’s watchmen and we need to do our part.

Otherwise, the blood of God’s people will, in a sense, be on our hands.”

But thank God for individual Lay-leaders like Dr Simon Chong, who wrote:

“How much more than the countless souls at risk of hell?

In Joseph Prince, the Church is faced

with a perpetrator of falsehoods and twisted doctrines,

with many of the flocks drawn to it, as well as non-believers

being seduced into a completely new brand of Christianity

that is totally unlike what the Church preaches.

For years, what has the Church done?

Our response…Silence…

Hence to say one is ignorant and lacks information,

that is totally inexcusable.

But to have the inertia within to do or say anything,

then that is disobedience,

a spiritual malaise to a task or responsibility

placed on every Christian

and even more so Church Leaders & Pastors!

For church leaders

to continue to treat a heretic like Joseph Prince

as a fellow shepherd is just unthinkable…

Will you continue to allow falsehood and lies

to reign in your midst?

Particularly as spiritual leaders,

you must take responsibility

and do what’s right!”

But thank God for a veteran Pastor, Rev Derek Hong, who wrote:

“I believe it’s time leadership in the Body of Christ

calls out the falsehoods

coming from the hyper-grace teachings…

But because of the enormity of what I now see,

I am compelled to do my duty as a pastor of the city

to highlight the dangers many believers are in.”

My prayer is – may God move more Pastors like Rev Derek Hong

to come forward and contend against

the dangerous and destructive heresies of Joseph Prince.

But thank God for Martyn Lloyd-Jones,

in ‘An Exposition of Ephesians 4:1-16, Christian Unity,’

who said:

“Finally, we are taught here, as elsewhere,

that all false teaching is to be hated and opposed.

We are told in the New Testament

that it was hated by our Lord and all the apostles,

and that they opposed it and warned the people against it.

But I ask again; is that being done today?

What about your personal attitude towards this?

Are you one of those people who says

that there is no need for those negatives,

and that we should be content

with a positive presentation of the truth?

Do we subscribe to the prevailing teaching

which dislikes warnings and the criticizing of false teachings?

Do you agree with those who say that a spirit of love

is incompatible with the negative

and critical denunciation of blatant error,

and that we must always be positive.

The simple answer to such an attitude

is that the Lord Jesus Christ

denounced evil and denounced false teachers.

I repeat that He (Jesus) denounced them as

‘ravening wolves’ and ‘whited sepulchres’,

and as ‘blind guides’.

The Apostle Paul said of some of them,

‘whose god is their belly,

and whose glory is in their shame’.

That is the language of the Scriptures.

There can be little doubt but that the Church is as she is today

because we do not follow New Testament teaching and its exhortations,

and confine ourselves to the positive and the so-called ‘simple Gospel’,

and fail to stress the negatives and the criticisms.

The result is that people do not recognize error when they meet it.

They accept what appears to be nice…

In their ignorant child-like condition

they often help to propagate the false teaching

because they see nothing wrong in it.

Moreover, they do not realize

that error is to be hated and to be denounced.

Imagining themselves to be full of a spirit of love,

they are beguiled by Satan, the predatory beast

who was on their track,

and who has suddenly caught them and pounced upon them

in his cleverness and subtlety.

It is not pleasant to be negative;

it is not enjoyable to have to denounce and to expose error.

But any pastor

who feels in a little measure, and with humility, the responsibility

which the Apostle Paul knew in an infinitely greater degree,

for the souls and the wellbeing spiritually of his people

is compelled to utter these warnings.

It is not liked and appreciated in this modern flabby generation,

but if it is not done

the people will be beguiled by false teachers

‘as the serpent beguiled Eve’.”

But thank God for Martyn Lloyd-Jones,

in ‘An Exposition of Ephesians 5:18-6:9, Life in the Spirit,’

who said;

“A heretic was not allowed to remain in the church;

he was to be put out,

they were not to have fellowship with him…

Then you will remember what we read in the second chapter of Galatians

about what Paul did to Peter.

Peter was not quite as clear in his mind, and in his understanding, as Paul

over the question of eating with those who had not been circumcised.

The Peter who had been so prominent was wrong in his teaching at this point.

What did the Apostle Paul do?

Did he submit himself to Peter, in the fear of Christ, and say,

‘Well, who am I to argue with Peter?

After all, he was one of the innermost three

in the circle that were with Christ.

I was never with Christ in the flesh;

I was then a blasphemer and a Pharisee.

Who am I to stand up against a great man like Peter?

I must just say nothing,

I must listen in silence and pray;

and then we must work together

in a spirit of amity and cooperation?’

How monstrous!

On the contrary, Paul says,

‘I with-stood him to the face’.

He corrected Peter in public

because Peter was wrong,

and the whole future of the Church was in jeopardy…

‘Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ’

does not mean that you accommodate yourself to wrong teaching and doctrine,

that you say nothing when falsehood is being propagated.

No!

For that is a denial of all the New Testament.

Not only that,

it is a denial of some of the most glorious epochs and eras

in the Christian church.

What are the mountain peaks in church history?

Here is one: Athanasius contra mundum.

Athanasius had to stand alone

against the whole world on the doctrine of the Person of Christ.

Martin Luther – what was he doing?

Well, here was a man standing absolutely alone

against the great Papist church and fifteen centuries of tradition.

Of course, what people said to him was this:

‘Who are you?

Why do you not submit yourself in the fear of Christ?’

‘Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of Christ”

– Who are you?’

And yet he stood and said,

‘I can do no other, so help me God’!

Why?

Because the Spirit had enlightened him.

Luther was right,

the church was wrong.”

2. The Last Straw that moved Rev Derek Hong to contend against Joseph Prince’s Heresies.

of the political and social agenda of LGBTQ activism,

as they have never been properly instructed by their pastor.

By the way, increasingly no entertainment is.

Entertainment is the world’s pulpit to preach lifestyles and values.

RuPaul is an aggressive propaganda force

driving the homosexual activist agenda

to change laws and culture.

Should a hugely expensive piece of property,

funded by the tithes and offerings of church-goers,

be used to host a show

that displays homosexual expressions as normal

when Scripture clearly stated as unacceptable?”

Michael Brown, on his website,

wrote the following:

“Drag queens reading to toddlers in libraries and schools.

Drag queens engaging in indecent acts with children in gay bars.

Drag queens performing in our churches.

If anything was a sign that God has given America over to depravity, it is this.

Rampant porn addiction is bad enough,

as is the redefining of the very meaning of marriage.

Radicals shouting their abortions

and the government openly

advocating for the chemical castration

and genital mutilation of confused children

is yet another telltale sign.

But the drag queen depravity

goes one step further.

It celebrates that which is shameful

and normalizes that which is perverse.

And it does so in the most exaggerated,

even overtly demonic form,

with Drag Queens wearing Satanic horns

while reading to tiny little children.

As proclaimed openly, proudly, and boldly

on the Drag Story Hour website,

‘DSH captures the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood

and gives kids glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role models.

Kids are able to see people who defy rigid gender restrictions

and imagine a world where people

can present as they wish, where dress up is real.’

This is called grooming!

Yes, your kids are being targeted

– impressionable, innocent children, as young as toddlers

– with the enthusiastic support of the American Library Association,

not to mention the support of parents and educators.

As reported by Fox News,

“New York City shelled out more than $200,000 in taxpayer funding

in the past five years

to have drag queens come into classrooms

and interact with schoolchildren as young as age 3.

The nonprofit Drag Story Hour NYC,

previously known as Drag Queen Story Hour NYC,

received approximately $207,000 in taxpayer funding since 2018.”

This is madness. This is depravity. This is perverse.

But this is what happens

when God gives people over to their sinful imaginations.

A clear and definite line is crossed,

as people not only tolerate evil,

they celebrate it.

That which is despicable is now honored

and that which is shameful is paraded openly.

The conscience is seared and the folly revealed.

It is as if God said,

“If that’s what you want, then have at it,

without restraint and without reserve.

The seat belts are off and the brakes do not work.

You are in free fall now.

I will let the whole world see your folly.”

In the sermon on 27 August 2023, 3 days ago, Joseph Prince said;

Please click here to view the 10-second video:

“You are the people;

the many membered body of Christ called the church.

The church is not a building.

And all those at Fairmont today,

the church is not a building.”

If the church is not the building as Joseph Prince said,

why spend such a huge sum of money

(about $800 million in total)

for a building or property

that has a relatively short time lease

(in relation to the cost).

on the building of Star Vista?

If half of the $800 million

could be poured into missions and the welfare of the less fortunate,

how much would that have achieved?

Was the congregation in New Creation Church told

that their tithes and offerings

which many may have sacrificially given to the church

would, as Rev Derek Hong said;

“be used to host a show

that displays homosexual expressions as normal

when Scripture clearly stated as unacceptable?”

In relation to this issue,

someone commented on one of my YouTube videos:

“He meant meditate on God’s word day and night

but sorry he has no control

over the use of the theatre the church owned

… so if they want to do a striptease show,

he can’t say no…

Imagine a striptease show on Saturday

and a worship service the next day

on the same stage and venue.

He’s allowing Satan to give God a slap in the face…”

3. Joseph Prince frequently boasted about the many fruits of his ministry, but he hid the many bad fruits of his ministry from being publicised.

Derek Hong wrote:

“A guy who’s divorced because of adultery says he joined

because he’s already been forgiven

without any repentance or honest examination

of how he might have contributed

to the breakdown of his marriage in the first place.

He continues to live with girl-friends merrily

while attending the church

and gets upset when friends confront him

about his ungodly practices.

A pastor friend running a family counselling centre

told me that a counselee from NCC

stomped off a session,

accusing him of condemning her

when he warned her

not to continue in an unhealthy relationship with another man

while complaining about the unfaithfulness of her husband.”

Joseph Prince frequently boasts

about the many testimonies

that his grace theology has set people free from their bondage.

However, if there are tragic testimonies

that people’s lives have been wrecked

because they practise his teachings,

he is never going to tell you,

and he would immediately disclaim responsibility

if they were to come out into the open.

I have similar experiences to Rev Derek Hong.

I have many people who came to tell me

about how the lives of their relatives and friends were wrecked

because they came under the influence of Joseph Prince’s teachings:

One Christian lady personally told me

that her son-in-law, who is a believer,

committed adultery and is still with the woman

because he was convinced by Joseph Prince’s theology

that all our sins have been forgiven: past, present and future,

and that our salvation can never be lost, no matter what.

Another sister who is a believer,

shared with me that her husband

had committed adultery for several years.

And during the period of his adultery,

guess where he was worshipping

– at Joseph Prince’s church.

A Christian brother told me that

when his wife committed adultery,

where was she and her lover worshipping?

– they were raising their hands worshipping God

at Joseph Prince’s church.

These occurrences are not at all surprising

because of Joseph Prince’s teachings

that all their future sins have been forgiven

(including adulterous sins)

and that Christians can never lose their salvation

(even though they had committed adultery without repenting.)

Mind you, these 3 cases are just a few

of the many first-hand accounts of similar stories

that I have personally heard.

I am very certain that there are many similar stories

that other Pastors and believers have also heard and could recount.

4. Joseph Prince would never attempt a book exposition as that would expose his heresies.

Rev Derek Hong said:

“Thus, you won’t hear Joseph Prince

do a thorough and systematic exposition

of a whole book of the Bible

as this would force him to deal with verses

that challenge his belief system.”

I shared the same observations as Rev Derek Hong did.

About 4 years ago, I wrote the following

– that have you noticed

Joseph Prince never expounds on a whole book of the Bible?

Joseph Prince wouldn’t dare to teach through an entire book of the Bible,

as any excellent teacher of God’s word would love to and has done.

Any excellent teacher of the Bible would love to do the book-by-book teaching approach

because they love the word of God

and they want people to know all the truth that is revealed therein,

and not just their pet doctrines.

They believe that the whole counsel of God

needs to be addressed

and not just the favourite topics

that they are passionate in.

I’m not talking about just skimming a book of the Bible

through one or two sermons,

like what Joseph Prince has done,

but a thorough exposition that may last many Sundays.

The joke is that there was once

Joseph Prince claimed that he expounded on the Book of Job.

But all he did to expound on that Book

was that he did it in just an hour of a typical sermon.

One hour and he calls that an exposition of the Book of Job!

Ridiculous!

You name any excellent teacher of God’s word,

and I can safely say they would love

and have taught through many books of the Bible

– chapter by chapter and verse by verse.

But why isn’t Joseph Prince doing it,

since many have acclaimed him as a solid teacher of God’s word?

The fact is, Joseph Prince wouldn’t dare to.

I’ll tell you why.

He wouldn’t dare to because there are plenty of verses

and passages from many books in the Bible

that would contradict and threaten his Pseudo-grace doctrine.

If he were to preach book-by-book, chapter-by-chapter and verse-by-verse,

his deceptive Pseudo-grace teachings would be immediately exposed.

All those verses and passages that contradict his doctrine will be unveiled.

If you have been observant,

he only preaches from those ‘safe’ texts

that he could find support for his theology.

It is safer for him to just cherry-pick verses and passages from each book

that seem to ‘agree’ with his doctrine

while leaving out the rest that may threaten it.

So, I have let the cat out of the bag

– the secret is out

– why Joseph Prince never teaches a whole book thoroughly

even though any excellent Bible teacher would love to do it.

I have to let this secret out

to expose him as a false teacher

whose only topic he teaches is the grace of God

– and that single agenda of grace (false grace)

is allowed to control how every single verse and passage in the Bible is interpreted.

When you forcibly filter the whole Bible,

with its multiple themes and theologies,

through the single funnel of grace,

it doesn’t take a theologian to figure out

that the grace teachings of Joseph Prince

would be grossly distorted.

Finally, let me reiterate what Rev Derek Hong wrote:

“I believe it’s time leadership in the Body of Christ

calls out the falsehoods

coming from the hyper-grace teachings…

But because of the enormity of what I now see,

I am compelled to do my duty as a pastor of the city

to highlight the dangers many believers are in.”

May many more believers,

especially the Pastors and Leaders of the Singapore Church,

follow the excellent and courageous example of Rev Derek Hong

to contend against and expose

the dangerous and destructive heresies of Joseph Prince

that could lead people to the lake of fire.
