Joseph Prince uses the Prosperity Gospel as an excuse to trumpet his financial giving to Singapore churches – By Rev George Ong (Dated 11 Nov 2022)
… let me caution Pastors of churches and Heads of Christian Organisations from receiving any financial gifts from Joseph Prince by sharing 2 incidents:
First, I had a meeting with a senior figure, who is known in the Singapore Church scene several years ago. He began by talking about Kong Hee. He was very perturbed with Kong Hee, and spoke about his unhappiness, objections and the wrong things that Kong Hee did…
But when this senior figure talked about Joseph Prince, it was a complete change from the way he talked about Kong Hee. He had so many good and positive things to say about Joseph Prince…
Second, I had a conversation with a fellow Pastor…
I shudder to think how many Pastors, churches and Christian organisations in Singapore have received or are still receiving financially from Joseph Prince?
For details, please read the rest of the article.
(This article was also sent to Rev Dr Ngoei Foong Nghian, General Secretary, National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS) office, and for the attention of the Executive Committee Members.)
In a weekly Sunday sermon aired on YouTube on 6 Nov 2022, 5 days ago, Joseph Prince said;
Please click here to view the 2-minute video:
“And really, we are helping other churches. One of the first things we did when we went into the pandemic in 2020. One of the first things we did, and Pastor Lawrence is here, is that, now you can focus on Pastor Lawrence, whether he agree or not.
So, Pastor Lawrence remembers that one of the first things we did was to sit down and discuss churches in Singapore and around the region, but basically at that time, Singapore that are suffering, that need help. Alright, financial help, because we hear that many of them, uh, they are not getting the help. Amen.
And the thing is that must do it anonymously. You’ll never find their names. We want to do it anonymously. The record is there but we won’t announce to you their names, which church and all that because I don’t want the pastor to be embarrassed. One thing we tell them when we support you, please don’t say it’s New Creation Church. Don’t have to tell anybody except those you are accountable to in your church council and all that, but don’t mention us.”
Now, are we putting a feather on my cap by sharing? I think it’s probably the first time right, Lawrence, I’m sharing publicly for the first time.
I’m just telling you that is what a good prosperity teaching is all about, to be a blessing. It is not to be greedy. It’s not the love of money. Ya, give Jesus the praise Amen. This is your church, Amen.
But many many places of the pandemic, they are suffering financially. Some churches are shutting down. Some can’t pay their rent. And then we got teachings coming up,
‘Oh, you know, we know we don’t believe in prosperity. Christians rising up. You are prosperous, keep quiet. Amen. Don’t rob people of the truth.’”
Joseph Prince said;
“And the thing is that must do it anonymously.
The great irony is, when such financial giving by New Creation Church to the Singapore churches which is supposed to be anonymous and not to be announced, Joseph Prince is now mentioning it to the whole world that it is New Creation Church that gives money to churches in Singapore.
See the double-talking here!
Before Joseph Prince announces this publicly to the world, ‘no one’ knows, but now the whole world knows because Joseph Prince has chosen a worship service on 6 Nov 2022, 5 days ago, to make it known to the whole world.
“… don’t mention us,” said Joseph Prince, but now Joseph Prince is mentioning to the whole world about their financial giving to the Singapore churches.
“… please don’t say it’s New Creation Church,” said Joseph Prince, but now everyone knows it is New Creation Church that has given money to the churches in Singapore.
See the insincerity of it all!
Joseph Prince said;
“The record is there but we won’t announce to you their names, which church and all that because I don’t want the pastor to be embarrassed.”
Because Joseph Prince has now made known their financial giving to the Singapore churches, members of churches whose Pastors have received money from New Creation Church, may ask their pastors about this matter.
Do you expect these Pastors who have received money from New Creation Church to deny and tell a lie that they didn’t receive any finance from New Creation Church?
And if these Pastors tell their members the truth that it is New Creation Church that gives them money, we would have to ask Joseph Prince, would they be embarrassed?
So by Joseph Prince’s public announcement that it is New Creation Church that gives money to Singapore churches, he is effectively the one who embarrasses these Pastors.
Joseph Prince said;
“Now, are we putting a feather on my cap by sharing? I think it’s probably the first time right, Lawrence, I’m sharing publicly for the first time.”
Here Joseph Prince is pretending that he doesn’t have a sense of logic.
Whether it is the first time, or the second time, or the third time, it’s immaterial.
The fact is when it is shared, regardless of whether it’s the first time or the last time, the whole world will know and that’s what Joseph Prince wants – to be known.
What was supposed not to be known, now becomes known to the world because Joseph Prince had announced it.
Joseph Prince said;
“I’m just telling you that is what a good prosperity teaching is all about, to be a blessing. It is not to be greedy. It’s not the love of money. Ya, give Jesus the praise Amen. This is your church, Amen.”
What is worse is Joseph Prince is using the financial giving of New Creation Church to the Singapore churches, which Prince announced it publicly, to support the efficacy of his Prosperity Gospel teachings.
It is a known fact that the vast majority of the Singapore churches don’t subscribe to the Prosperity Gospel doctrine that Joseph Prince preaches.
So, what happens to these churches that don’t subscribe and even preach against the Prosperity Gospel of Joseph Prince, but have received money from New Creation Church that champions this doctrine?
You know what’s going to happen.
Because they have received money from New Creation Church, they may be beholden to Joseph Prince and his church, and would even avoid speaking against such teachings of Joseph Prince from then on.
So, can you see what is really happening?
In this particular sermon on 6 Nov 2022, 5 days ago, Joseph Prince spent much time defending his Prosperity Gospel doctrine.
He makes the argument that the Prosperity Gospel is not about greed or materialism or love of money. It is prosperity with a purpose of blessing others with the blessing one has received – like what he did by giving financially to the Singapore churches.
Of course, we agree with Joseph Prince that believers shouldn’t be greedy or materialistic, and that we should bless others with the blessings that we have received from the Lord. But all these that Prince mentioned are not even the issues at hand.
Let me repeat: but all these that Prince mentioned are not even the issues at hand.
Joseph Prince is deceptively using these side issues as a smokescreen to cloud the real issue.
The real issue is, is the Prosperity Gospel doctrine of Joseph Prince biblical or can it be supported from New Testament scriptures?
The fact is, regardless of whether one is greedy or not, regardless of whether one is blessing others with the blessing that one has received from God or not, the Prosperity Gospel teaching of Joseph Prince cannot be justified from New Testament scriptures for New Covenant believers.
What is the Prosperity Gospel of Joseph Prince in short?
It is that
every New Covenant believer has the covenantal right to be very rich as Abraham was,
and every New Covenant believer has the covenantal right to enjoy the perfect health of the ascended Lord Jesus as He is enjoying.
Tell me, which church in Singapore believes in and teaches such a Prosperity Gospel doctrine that Joseph Prince holds to?
Joseph Prince would have to tell us how many Singapore churches agree with his Prosperity Gospel doctrine.
Joseph Prince said;
“But many many places of the pandemic, they are suffering financially. Some churches are shutting down. Some can’t pay their rent. And then we got teachings coming up,
‘Oh, you know, we know we don’t believe in prosperity. Christians rising up. You are prosperous, keep quiet. Amen. Don’t rob people of the truth.’”
Joseph Prince is implying that only those who believe in his Prosperity Gospel doctrine could get out of their financial problems. What a bogus claim!
I’m very sure there are many churches that don’t believe in the Prosperity Gospel of Joseph Prince, and even fight against such ungodly doctrine, are helped out financially by God through the generosity of fellow churches, who also do not subscribe to such unbiblical teachings.
When Joseph Prince said;
“And then we got teachings coming up,
‘Oh, you know, we know we don’t believe in prosperity. Christians rising up. You are prosperous, keep quiet. Amen. Don’t rob people of the truth.’”
Imagine, Joseph Prince, the world’s guru on grace, doesn’t even possess a sense of logic.
Joseph Prince is implying that just because a believer is rich, he or she isn’t allowed to speak out against false teachings, particularly his Prosperity Gospel teachings.
That just because one is rich, he or she automatically forfeits his or her right to teach against Prince’s Prosperity Gospel doctrine?
The truth is, whether one is rich or poor, if a doctrine is false, they must speak up.
Speaking up against the Prosperity Gospel doctrine has nothing to do with whether one is rich or poor.
The nonsensical teaching is, according to Joseph Prince, if one is rich, he should just shut up and mind his own business, even though he knows that the Prosperity Gospel doctrine is grossly false.
Finally, let me caution Pastors of churches and Heads of Christian Organisations from receiving any financial gifts from Joseph Prince by sharing 2 incidents:
First, I had a meeting with a senior figure, who is known in the Singapore Church scene several years ago.
He began by talking about Kong Hee. He was very perturbed with Kong Hee, and spoke about his unhappiness, objections and the wrong things that Kong Hee did.
I can understand where he was coming from, as I, too, did not agree and object to the actions of Kong Hee at that time. (But as you know, Kong Hee has since repented).
But when this senior figure talked about Joseph Prince, it was a complete change from the way he talked about Kong Hee.
He had so many good and positive things to say about Joseph Prince.
Then he told me that Joseph Prince gave him (from my memory) – it is definitely either an expensive gift or Joseph Prince paid for his vacation abroad.
Can you see how easily one’s perspective can be clouded about someone when we have received a financial gift from that same person?
Second, I had a conversation with a fellow Pastor, who was in charge of organising trips for Pastors to Israel.
I’m not entirely sure whether these trips were entirely sponsored or heavily subsidised by Joseph Prince’s New Creation Church for every Pastor.
But what I’m sure is that this particular Pastor’s trip was paid for by New Creation Church.
This Pastor was very against Joseph Prince’s grace teachings, but this was what he said;
“George, you know lah, I am very against Joseph Prince’s teachings, but he gives free trip, you know; free trip, take lah!”
Again, if one has received such a financial favour from Joseph Prince,
do you think this Pastor would dare to speak against the heresies of Joseph Prince anymore,
even though he is strongly against it?
Am I saying we shouldn’t give any financial gift to anyone, or receive any financial gift from anyone?
Of course not.
Any Pastor, regardless of whether he is Joseph Prince or George Ong, has the prerogative to give anything he wants to whoever he wishes.
(And by the way, Joseph Prince gave 200,000 dollars to Hillsong church, whose Senior Pastor, Brian Houston, has recently fallen from grace.
Please click on the link below to view this video that showed Brian Houston appreciating Joseph Prince for the $200,000 gift.

Likewise, any Pastor is free to receive any financial gift from anyone.
But when it comes to Joseph Prince, the heretic, we ought to be very cautious about it.
If you have received a gift or financial support from Joseph Prince, the heretic, you are unlikely to speak out against his heresies, even though you may be against them because you are now beholden to him.
I shudder to think how many Pastors, churches and Christian organisations in Singapore have received or are still receiving financially from Joseph Prince?
If they have been receiving financially from Joseph Prince, is that the reason why these Pastors of churches and heads of organisations are hesitant to speak up against Joseph Prince’s false teachings?
What is worse is, they may even be tacitly supporting Joseph Prince by opposing those who contend against his heretical teachings.
Joseph Prince’s hypocrisy is exposed as he uses fear to get his people back to New Creation Church – By Rev George Ong
(This article was also sent to Rev Dr Ngoei Foong Nghian, General Secretary, National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS) office, and for the attention of the Executive Committee Members.)
Joseph Prince has been trying very hard and on many occasions in his Sunday sermons to get his people back to attend the Sunday services at New Creation Church.
You have to believe me as I view Joseph Prince’s sermons every Sunday.
But the most disturbing thing of all is that Joseph Prince, probably out of desperation, has resorted to fear in order to get his people to come back to Church.
What is repulsive is that Joseph Prince, who accuses his critics of using fear to frighten people (which is untrue), is now using this same tactic of fear to frighten his people into coming back to New Creation Church.
This shows that the attendance at New Creation Church has probably dwindled; and by how much, only Prince knows, but he is keeping absolutely quiet about the current attendance, as his pride and ego is at stake.
Here is how Joseph Prince, under the guise of scripture and the convenient use of the devil as a roaring lion, uses fear to frighten his people to come back to his church:
In a weekly Sunday sermon aired on YouTube on 6 Nov 2022, 5 days ago, Joseph Prince said;
Please click here to view the 2-minute video:
“That people can come together. Amen. To worship the Lord in a place where they can be not forsaking the assembling.
So it wasn’t meant for you to watch from home actually. It’s meant for you to come here. It’s meant for you to come here. Be together.
You know the Bible talks about, and they came together in one place. So the idea of not forsaking, actually, is a physical gathering, coming together, all the more, the Bible says, as you see the day approaching.
You know, the Bible says the devil comes like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. You know what the roaring lion does?
The Bible says the devil is like a roaring lion… you will find that the way, from what I notice, the lions, they go really slow and they are very patient. And when they see a group of gazelles or zebras and all that, they mark someone that is weak, and then they take their time. They follow the herd. They don’t attack. They never attack when the herd are really strong and together. They attack when the herd is confused or they leave behind a straggler who is injured or whatever. They wait, they wait until you are out of fellowship. You are isolated. When you are alone.
So when you think about it, the analogy that the Holy Spirit use, Satan, like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, there’s safety in being together, physically. There’s something I cannot explain it; something spiritual, something there’s a divine protection.
Have you noticed the Gadarenes demoniac, the most demonised man in the Bible? The Bible used this phrase of him. He was alone. He was alone. I can’t begin to tell you that there are forces is beyond the physical.
When people are alone, they think crazy thoughts. When they are alone, they have a lot of depression. That’s when depression reigns in their minds.”
The crux of Joseph Prince’s argument is that when you attend New Creation Church on Sunday, you are not alone because you are together with other believers.
It is this togetherness with others on Sunday that would put you under divine protection.
But if you don’t attend his church on Sunday, you are alone.
And when you are alone, you will not only be beset by depression, but you are also opening yourself to be attacked by the devil, the roaring lion, because lions attack those who are alone.
Why does Joseph Prince have to assume that just because his members are not attending his church, they are alone?
They may perhaps have seen through the heresies of Joseph Prince, and are now attending another church that teaches the true grace of God.
They may have their Christian friends around them to fellowship and to encourage them.
Joseph Prince has nonsensically concluded that just because his members have stopped coming to New Creation Church, they are necessarily alone.
Furthermore, Joseph Prince is preaching out of context.
When Hebrews 10:24-25 talks about don’t forsake the assembling of yourselves, it is in the context of small and house churches, not in Prince’s humongous physical church building that is filled with multitudes of people.
It would have been a bit more convincing if Joseph Prince were to pitch his call, to get them back to attend the cell groups in his church.
It is only in a small group of believers that meaningful ministry can take place.
What’s the use of coming back to a humongous and impersonal crowd of thousands of people in a big church building for Sunday services.
In fact, it is in the midst of such a big mass of people that the person may feel even more alone.
And Joseph Prince is more interested in getting them back to attend the Sunday services just to boost and beef up his ego – that he has more people to preach to, and probably to address the problem of dwindling attendance at New Creation Church.
But what is repulsive is that this grace teacher, Joseph Prince, who frequently and falsely attacks his critics of using fear to control people, is using the same tactic on his people just to get them to come for Sunday services.
Joseph Prince said;
“Have you noticed the Gadarenes demoniac, the most demonised man in the Bible? The Bible used this phrase of him. He was alone. He was alone.”
Did you know that Joseph Prince used the same example of this Gadarenes demoniac in his sermon on 18 Sep 2022, to frighten his people, that if they are alone by not attending New Creation Church, they may end up in the same pathetic situation as this Gadarenes demoniac?
Now Prince is repeating this ‘threat’ again in his sermon on 6 Nov 2022, 5 days ago.
When a preacher has to resort to fear to frighten you, you can be sure he is not acting out of love, but out of his own insecurity and ego because of a less than ideal-size-crowd to preach to every Sunday.
Finally, the use of fear to frighten his people is not new.
Joseph Prince has been using Galatians 1:8-9, every now and then, to scare his people never to return to the ‘law churches’ but to always stay faithful to New Creation Church, which teaches grace (but false grace), failing which, they will come under a double curse.
And it is because many in New Creation Church are fearful of coming under a double curse that they are compelled to stay in New Creation Church.
