Joseph Prince said he would live to 120 years & for as long as he wants and as long as he is satisfied, and that is God’s will; hence, God would fulfil his wish – is literally making us God & God as our servant

3. Joseph Prince is making us God and God as our Servant
In sermon 1 on 13 August 2023, 2 Sundays ago
and sermon 2,
Joseph Prince spoke about the blessing of long life
as an unqualified promise
that every New Covenant believer is entitled to.
Sure, believers who are blessed with long life
are something glorious to celebrate and praise God for.
We should not begrudge those
whom God has blessed with long life
but we should rejoice with them for this wonderful blessing.
But Joseph Prince, who teaches
that every New Covenant believer
is entitled to live long life
– for as long as he wants and as long as he is satisfied,
is a different matter altogether.
This teaching is gravely erroneous,
flippantly presumptuous and so bizarre
that any sensible Christian
would have no second thoughts
in rejecting this as a false doctrine.
What is most disturbing is that Joseph Prince
literally teaches that how long you wish to live
is your choice and up to your satisfaction.
If you choose to live beyond 90,
God, as your Genie, will grant that to you.
If you wish to reach the age of 100,
God will fulfil your request
as long as you are satisfied.
You alone determine the length of your days on earth
and God will have to go along with your wish
as long as you are satisfied.
In other words, it is you (according to your satisfaction)
who determine how long you will live on earth
and when you are ready to die;
and God will have to fulfil it.
By doing that,
Joseph Prince is literally making us God
who can decide how long we want to live
and God as our servant
to merely carry out our wishes.
If Joseph Prince can teach
such outrageous and abominable doctrines
how can he not be a heretic?
How can a Singapore Methodist Bishop
and Singapore Presbyterian Pastor
say Joseph Prince is not a heretic?
Friends, the sober issue of life and death
lies in the hands of God and God alone,
and it is not a trivial matter that man can decide.
Third Important Excerpt taken from the Article:
For Joseph Prince to teach that the promise of long life
is an unconditional promise for every New Covenant believer,
when he said in sermon 2:
“The promise for every believer who are in Christ…
But the criteria in the New Covenant,
God says, ‘With long life will I satisfy you’,”
which isn’t true at all from the witness of scriptures
in both the Old Covenant and the New,
is tantamount to telling a lie!
Joseph Prince is proven to be a serial-liar
as he had, once again, lied against the scriptures!
(This article was also sent to Rev Dr Ngoei Foong Nghian, General Secretary, National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS) office, and for the attention of the Executive Committee Members.)
In a weekly Sunday sermon aired on YouTube
on 13 August 2023, 2 Sundays ago (sermon 1), Joseph Prince said;
Please click here to view the 2-minute video:
“We know with long life I will satisfy him.
I mean, you are well-taught.
But you know that this is not well-taught outside.
It is well-taught here.
I hope you better appreciate
what you have in this New Creation Church.
We keep on banging back home;
always with long life will I satisfy you.
So, this is Psalms what?
Psalms 90.
We live in Psalms 91, right.
So, Psalms 91 says what?
‘With long life I will satisfy him.
And show him my salvation.’ (Psa 91:16)…
So, Psalms 91; it’s just back-to-back,
side by side, Psalms 90.
It’s like God is saying,
‘Where do you want to live?’
If you live under the law, Psalms 90,
and I tell you Psalms 90 is a Psalm by Moses, not David.
Some people believe that Moses also wrote Psalms 91
but many people believed that David wrote Psalms 91.
But for sure, Moses wrote Psalms 90…
Now, these are people under the law (Psalm 90).
These are people under the law (Psalm 90).
But we don’t live 70, 80 years (Psalm 90).
We live with long life will I satisfy him (Psalm 91).
That means if you are not satisfied at 80,
you want to be satisfied at 90, go ahead.
God’s criteria, God didn’t say,
(God says) my will is the criteria.
God says my will is that your satisfaction…
Satisfied, that’s God’s criteria.
Are you listening?
‘But Pastor what if it’s God’s will?’
God’s word is God’s will.
God’s will is in God’s word.
He does not will something for you
that’s not in His word.
And these people say,
you know, what is God’s will for you.
You ask them what’s God’s will for you.
And it’s always something vague…
But these things are very clear in the word.
God’s word is God’s will.
God’s will is God’s word.
Satisfied…
So, when God says with long life will I satisfy you,
the criteria is that, your satisfaction;
you must be satisfied.”
In another weekly Sunday sermon (sermon 2), Joseph Prince said;
Please click here to view the 1-minute video:
“The promise for every believer who are in Christ;
the Bible says, you are under the shadow,
under the protection of the Almighty
and the Almighty here is Shaddai.
And then this promise, this entire Psalm, ends with
‘With long life, God satisfies you’ (Psa 91:16a).
So, we see that God wants to satisfy us with long life.
Now, by the way, if it says with long life will I satisfy him;
notice there’s no age mentioned there.
The only criteria is your satisfaction.
With long life, will I satisfy him.
So if you’re not satisfied at 90,
you want to go further, go on.
God is saying the criteria will be long life,
according to your satisfaction.
If you are satisfied with life, at a hundred
and you say, ‘It’s time to go,’
then you can talk to the Lord about it.
But the criteria in the New Covenant,
God says, ‘With long life will I satisfy you’.
Be satisfied with your life,
and then, you can decide to go
if Jesus tarries.”
In yet another sermon (sermon 3), Joseph Prince said;
Please click here to view the 40-second video:
“You don’t have to quote chapter and verse all the time.
Many of you believe the right things now.
But are you saying it.
‘In my heart I believe, Pastor.’
It’s not enough.
The spirit of faith, I believe, therefore I spoke.
Speak it out.
Find someone and tell the person.
Someone says,
‘I have never seen anyone live to 120.’
Well, I’d be the one.
The first in Singapore, in Jesus’ name.
Say it.
And God looks down and say,
‘That’s my boy. That’s my daughter.’
Say it, don’t have to be chapter and verse all the time.”
1. No sensible Pastor or church would teach that New Covenant believers can live for as long as they want and to their satisfaction, and God, as our Genie, will have to grant or fulfil it, except for Joseph Prince.
Joseph Prince said (sermon 1):
“We know with long life I will satisfy him.
I mean, you are well-taught.
But you know that this is not well-taught outside.
It is well-taught here.
I hope you better appreciate
what you have in this New Creation Church.
We keep on banging back home;
always with long life will I satisfy you.”
Joseph Prince boasted about the fact
that the doctrine that we can live long life to our satisfaction
is not taught outside in other churches
but in New Creation Church.
But are you aware that no sensible Pastor or church
would dare to teach such nonsensical doctrine
except for Joseph Prince in New Creation Church?
If you don’t believe me,
just ask any true Evangelical Pastor or church in Singapore
whether any of them have ever taught
that New Covenant believers
can live for as long as they want and to their satisfaction,
and God, as their Genie, will have to grant or fulfil it.
I can bet with you that none would dare.
That is why I said that Joseph Prince is a Lone ranger,
teaching many strange doctrines
that Pastors or churches wouldn’t even dare to teach.
Joseph Prince said that his members
had better appreciate that they are in New Creation Church
as they are taught this long-life doctrine,
that isn’t taught outside in other churches.
Friends, it is not a blessing
to be in New Creation Church,
as Joseph Prince tried to posture,
but a curse,
as they are exposed, influenced and corrupted
by the many bizarre teachings
that Joseph Prince spewed out of his mouth.
2. Both Psalm 90 and Psalm 91 were written under the Old Covenant Law (ironically, according to Joseph Prince’s teaching).
Joseph Prince said (sermon 1):
“So, Psalms 91; it’s just back-to-back,
side by side, Psalms 90.
It’s like God is saying,
‘Where do you want to live?’
If you live under the law, Psalms 90,
and I tell you Psalms 90 is a Psalm by Moses,
not David.
Some people believe that Moses also wrote Psalms 91
but many people believed that David wrote Psalms 91.
But for sure, Moses wrote Psalms 90…
Now, these are people under the law (Psalm 90).
These are people under the law (Psalm 90).
But we don’t live 70, 80 years (under law in Psalm 90).
We live with long life will I satisfy him (Psalm 91).”
Joseph Prince is teaching rubbish
that can be chucked down the rubbish chute.
So, what if Psalm 91 wasn’t written by Moses but David?
What difference does it make?
Joseph Prince is trying to make the case
that while Psalm 90, written by Moses, was under law,
Psalm 91 was not under law but under grace
(though he didn’t say it, but that’s what he meant)
because it was written by David.
But doesn’t Joseph Prince know that David came after Moses?
And according to Joseph Prince’s own Dispensational and Grace Theology,
anything that came after Moses
after he gave the law in Exodus 19-20
was under law,
until the coming of Jesus Christ.
Joseph Prince has always been preaching in his sermons
using John 1:17 (NIV):
17 For the law was given through Moses;
grace and truth came through Jesus Christ,
So, according to his teaching,
everything that came after Moses, till before Christ
was under law.
So, David, who came after Moses, was under law.
(This doesn’t mean I agree with his Dispensational doctrine
but this is what he teaches.)
Hence, whether it was David or Moses
who wrote Psalm 91, is immaterial;
the fact remains that both Moses and David
were under law (according to Joseph Prince’s teaching).
Both Psalm 90 and Psalm 91,
and most of what were written in the Old Testament
were under the Old Covenant law (according to his teaching.)
Regardless of who wrote Psalm 90 and 91,
both Psalms were written under law.
Do you see how Joseph Prince
tries to pull a wool of deception
over the unsuspecting eyes
that there is a difference
between Psalm 90 (under law) and Psalm 91 (under grace)
when both Psalm 90 and Psalm 91
were written under law (according to his teaching).
The joke is in trying to make such a distinction,
to support his long-life doctrine
he ended up contradicting his own Dispensation Theology
without him even knowing it.
If Joseph Prince still insists that Psalm 91
was written by David and not Moses,
and hence, it is not under law but under grace,
what about all the rest of the Psalms in the Bible
that were written by David?
Does this mean that all these Psalms written David
were not under law?
Can you see how self-contradictory and nonsensical
Joseph Prince’s argument is?
Furthermore, does Joseph Prince really know how long did King David live?
About 70 years!
Here is Joseph Prince making the point
that we don’t live under Psalm 90
because it was written by Moses
and Psalm 90 is under law;
and because of that
people lived to only 70 or 80 years (Psalm 90:10).
But because Psalm 91 was written by David,
and presumably under grace,
believers can live long lives to their satisfaction (Psalm 91:16)
But the fact that David lived to 70
under grace in Psalm 91,
which is about the same as those who lived to 70 or 80 years
under law in Psalm 90,
is somewhat a contradiction
to what Joseph Prince is arguing for.
3. Joseph Prince is making us God and God as our Servant
In sermon 1 on 13 August 2023, 2 Sundays ago
and sermon 2,
Joseph Prince spoke about the blessing of long life
as an unqualified promise
that every New Covenant believer is entitled to.
Sure, believers who are blessed with long life
are something glorious to celebrate and praise God for.
We should not begrudge those
whom God has blessed with long life
but we should rejoice with them for this wonderful blessing.
But Joseph Prince, who teaches
that every New Covenant believer
is entitled to live long life
– for as long as he wants and as long as he is satisfied,
is a different matter altogether.
This teaching is gravely erroneous,
flippantly presumptuous and so bizarre
that any sensible Christian
would have no second thoughts
in rejecting this as a false doctrine.
What is most disturbing is that Joseph Prince
literally teaches that how long you wish to live
is your choice and up to your satisfaction.
If you choose to live beyond 90,
God, as your Genie, will grant that to you.
If you wish to reach the age of 100,
God will fulfil your request
as long as you are satisfied.
You alone determine the length of your days on earth
and God will have to go along with your wish
as long as you are satisfied.
In other words, it is you (according to your satisfaction)
who determine how long you will live on earth
and when you are ready to die;
and God will have to fulfil it.
By doing that,
Joseph Prince is literally making us God
who can decide how long we want to live
and God as our servant
to merely carry out our wishes.
This is both outrageous and abominable!
This is because the sober issue of life and death
lies in the hands of God and God alone,
and it is not a trivial matter that man can decide.
4. If the long-life doctrine doesn’t even work for New Creation Church, this only proves that Joseph Prince is a charlatan.
Can we ask Joseph Prince,
whose mother passed away this year,
how old was she when she passed away?
Was she 110?
Of course not!
Not just his mother,
but Joseph Prince has many members in New Creation Church
who have since passed away
during the 30 odd years of his ministry.
And may I ask how old were most of them?
100-110?
Come on, who is Joseph Prince trying to kid?
He said his congregation is very fortunate
to sit under his long-life teaching
that isn’t not taught outside – meaning in most or all churches,
then why do most in New Creation Church
passed away below 100 (fair and accurate assumption.)
Joseph Prince is a specialist
at using the many so-called testimonies of healing,
which are read at worship services almost every Sunday
to prove that he is preaching the correct doctrine.
But why isn’t there any on long-life so far
– that because of Joseph Prince’s teaching
this member or that member lived to 110?
In fact, one testimony isn’t enough,
but we need many testimonies
of New Creation Church members living beyond 100
to prove his long-life doctrine beyond any reasonable doubt
If the principle of living a long life to one’s satisfaction
which is only taught by him in his church,
cannot even produce concrete results,
that simply means Joseph Prince is a charlatan.
If it doesn’t even work in his church,
how dare Joseph Prince preach it so confidently
as a golden truth that this long-life principle
is a promise for every New Covenant believer.
5. Joseph Prince said he would live to 120, but I (George Ong) want to live to 2,000 years and more.
In sermon 3, Joseph Prince said:
“Someone says,
‘I have never seen anyone live to 120.’
Well, I’d be the one.
The first in Singapore, in Jesus’ name.
Say it.”
Wow, Joseph Prince is so presumptuous
that just by believing and saying that he could live to 120,
God would have to grant that to him.
Do you know in my carnal self,
I would, without batting an eyelid,
place a bet with anyone
that Joseph Prince won’t live to 120
for 10 million dollars (not that I have 10 million)?
But, of course, as a believer, I can’t and I won’t.
I’m just making the point
that Joseph Prince has become so arrogant,
imagining himself as God,
that he could even say
that he would be the first in Singapore to live to 120!
Joseph Prince is treating all Christians as fools.
Let me explain.
If Joseph Prince’s long-life doctrine is correct
and believers are ‘really, really, really’ (Singlish) given a choice.
I dare say that the majority of believers
would opt to live long lives to their satisfaction,
to even beyond 120 years and more.
Unless there are personal and good reasons,
they would be stupid to refuse
such a generous offer from God.
Do you know that from one angle,
Joseph Prince is rather foolish
to claim that he would live to only 120?
If I were Joseph Prince,
I would not be that stupid as him to stop at 120.
but I would dare to ask God for much more.
If I were an Old Covenant believer,
I would say to God that I want to live to 2,000 years and more
so as to welcome Christ’s first coming.
(assuming that Joseph Prince’s teaching on long life is true.)
“Wow, George, you are even more presumptuous
and daring than Joseph Prince.”
But why can’t I ask God to live to 2,000 years and even more?
Did Joseph Prince say there is a limit to the number of years?
No!
In sermon 2, Joseph Prince said:
“Now, by the way,
if it says with long life will I satisfy him;
notice there’s no age mentioned there.
The only criteria is your satisfaction.”
So, Joseph Prince himself said that age is no limit.
The only limit that Joseph Prince teaches
is that it must be up to one’s satisfaction.
So, if living to 2,000 years and more is up to my satisfaction,
can God say no to my request?
No, He can’t.
Because God’s will to grant me long life
as Joseph Prince teaches, is up to my satisfaction.
And if my satisfaction is to live to 2,000 years and more
God would have to grant it to me.
At this juncture, Joseph Prince may say to me,
“Come on, George, please be reasonable.
Asking God to live to 120, as in my case, is one thing,
but asking Him to let you live to 2,000 years and more
is too farfetched.”
I would say to Joseph Prince:
“But why didn’t you say
that there is a limit to the number of years of 120
that God can grant me?
I thought you said there’s no age limit
and that the limit is up to my satisfaction?
So, if I want to live to 2,000 years and more
and that is up to my satisfaction,
why can’t I ask God for it?”
By now, you ought to realise what I am driving at.
Imagine the totally bizarre and weird teachings
that Joseph Prince is feeding New Creation Church.
Such a stupid and an idiotic teaching
is only for fools, and only fools would believe him.
And yet, unbelievably, the majority in New Creation Church
and the millions of so-called believers in the other nations
are so downright stupid to believe him.
Why? Why? Why? (Singlish)
Because Joseph Prince is empowered by Satan
to keep these multitudes under deception
and under his control
even though he is preaching such idiotic stuffs.
6. Joseph Prince is a specialist at using half-truths to deceive the multitudes.
In sermon 1, Joseph Prince said:
“We live with long life
will I satisfy him (Psalm 91).
That means if you are not satisfied at 80,
you want to be satisfied at 90, go ahead…
God says my will is that your satisfaction…
Satisfied, that’s God’s criteria…
God’s word is God’s will.
God’s will is in God’s word…
But these things are very clear in the word.
God’s word is God’s will.
God’s will is God’s word.
Satisfied…
So, when God says with long life will I satisfy you,
the criteria is that, your satisfaction;
you must be satisfied.”
Joseph Prince quoted only half
of what God said and what is stated in the scriptures in Psalm 91:16.
It is his half-truth deception at play again.
What about the following two Old Testament verses
that Joseph Prince has ‘hidden’ from you:
1 Samuel 2:6-7 ESV
6 “The Lord kills and brings to life; he brings down to Sheol and raises up. 7 The Lord makes poor and makes rich; he brings low and he exalts.”
1 Samuel 2:6-7 NCV
6 “The Lord sends death, and he brings to life. He sends people to the grave, and he raises them to life again. 7 The Lord makes some people poor, and others he makes rich. He makes some people humble, and others he makes great.”
Deuteronomy 32:39 ESV
39 “‘See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god beside me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand.”
Deuteronomy 32:39 NCV
39 “Now you will see that I am the one God! There is no god but me. I send life and death; I can hurt, and I can heal. No one can escape from me.”
What this means is that
not only is God the one who gives life and even long life
(with conditions, not unconditionally as Joseph Prince falsely preaches)
to Old Covenant believers,
but He, too, can send death to kill them
and shorten their lives.
This means the Old Covenant believers who are killed by God,
(which God did many times)
and have their lives shortened,
do not enjoy a long life.
Hence, the blessing of long life
is not a blanket and unconditional promise
even to every Old Covenant believer.
Let’s take a look at the following New Testament verses
which Joseph Prince has ‘hidden’ from you:
Romans 14:7-8 NIV
7 “For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. 8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.”
Philippians 1:20-21 NIV
20 “I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
Paul not only did not teach that long life
is an unconditional promise for every New Covenant believer,
he teaches that our lives can be cut short.
But whether we live or die,
we do it for the Lord
And the Lord must be exalted
both through our living
and our dying (when our lives are cut short).
Let me list for you many other verses
which represent the other half of the truth
that Joseph Prince has deceptively and deliberately
‘hidden’ from you.
What about verses such as
John 21:18-19 NIV
18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!”
This is a well-known passage about Jesus’ prophecy
that Peter would die a martyr’s death.
Peter has every right to say
(assuming that Joseph Prince lived during his time,
and that Prince’s doctrine is correct, doctrinally):
“Jesus, this is not fair.
I heard from Joseph Prince
that I can live long life to my satisfaction.
I really want to live a long life
that Father God and you (who is God Himself) have promised.
But why are you cutting short my life
and ending my life before my time is up?
So, is long life an unconditional promise
for every New Covenant believer
as Joseph Prince teaches?
Well, at least, not in Peter’s case.
And as we shall see, Peter was not the only one
whose life was cut short by Jesus,
but there were millions of others
whose lives were shortened and so didn’t live long lives
because both Father God and the Lord Jesus
had called them to martyrdom for their glory.
In sermon 1, Joseph Prince said:
“God says my will is that (you live to) your satisfaction…
Satisfied, that’s God’s criteria…
God’s word is God’s will.
God’s will is in God’s word…
But these things are very clear in the word.
God’s word is God’s will.
God’s will is God’s word.”
We can also say to Joseph Prince
that Jesus’s plan for Peter to die before his time was up,
instead of allowing him to live a long life
is in God’s word,
and God’s word is God’s will,
and God’s will is in God’s word.
So, how, Joseph Prince (Singlish)?
Let me quote another passage,
which Joseph Prince has hidden from you:
Matthew 16:24-26 NIV
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
In context, when Jesus said that we are to take up the cross,
it means that, if necessary,
we are to take up our cross
and be ready to die as martyrs for Him
Jesus further said:
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
As a matter of fact, throughout the course of history,
multitudes of believers have given their lives
for the sake of Christ.
From the internet, I had gathered
some information about martyrdom:
“More than 70 million Christians have been martyred in the course of history. More than half were martyred in the 20th century under communist and fascist government (Gordon-Conwell Resources). In the 21st century, roughly 100,000 to 160,000 Christians were killed each year (Gordon-Conwell Resources and World Christian Database, respectively). Roughly 1,093,000 Christians were martyred, worldwide, between 2000 and 2010 (World Christian Database). Modern, Global Church Persecution Statistics.”
Did these more than 70 million believers
live long lives to their satisfaction
as taught by Joseph Prince?
Of course not!
They had their lives terminated
for the glory of the Lord Jesus.
We can also say to Joseph Prince
that Jesus’s plan for these multitudes of believers (70 million)
to have their lives cut short by martyrdom
instead of allowing them to live long lives to their satisfaction,
is in God’s word,
and God’s word is God’s will,
and God’s will is in God’s word.
So, how, Joseph Prince (Singlish)?
Let me list 3 other verses
that Joseph Prince has ‘hidden’ from you:
Philippians 1:29 NIV
29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him,
2 Timothy 3:12 NIV
12 In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
1 Peter 4:12 NIV
12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.
What we know about New Testament Christianity
is that suffering and persecution
is a common lot of believers.
As many of you are aware
that from the witness of Church history,
it is not uncommon for New Covenant saints
to suffer and be persecuted to the extent
that they had to give up their lives
for the sake of the Lord Jesus.
Instead of enjoying a long life to their satisfaction
that Joseph Prince teaches,
many had their lives cut short because of martyrdom.
We can also say to Joseph Prince
that Jesus’s plan for the multitudes of believers
to have their lives cut short by martyrdom
instead of allowing them to live long lives to their satisfaction,
is in God’s word,
and God’s word is God’s will,
and God’s will is in God’s word.
So, how, Joseph Prince (Singlish)?
Now, take a look at these verses
which Joseph Prince has ‘hidden’ from you:
Luke 14:25-27, 33 NIV
25 “Large crowds were traveling with Jesus, and turning to them he said: 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters – yes, even their own life – such a person cannot be my disciple. 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.” 33 “In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.”
Not only has Christ not promised
that we could live long lives,
but He stated that He could take away our lives,
because discipleship involves
the giving up of everything and even our lives
for the sake of Christ.
While not every New Covenant disciple
will be required to give up their lives,
they must be prepared to do so
if called upon by Christ.
We can also say to Joseph Prince
that Jesus’s plan for His disciples to give up their lives
instead of allowing them to live long lives to their satisfaction,
is in God’s word,
and God’s word is God’s will,
and God’s will is in God’s word.
So, how, Joseph Prince (Singlish)?
Now, one more passage
that Joseph Prince has ‘hidden’ from you.
Didn’t Jesus say to the Church of Smyrna,
a New Covenant Church,
Revelation 2:10 NIV
“Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you; the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown”
Throughout the centuries of Christianity,
many New Covenant believers had not only suffered much,
but they had paid with their own lives
in order to remain loyal to Christ.
Many were called to walk the same road
as the church of Smyrna did.
They were faithful to Jesus
‘even to the point of death.’
We can also say to Joseph Prince
that Jesus’s plan was for some New Covenant believers
to be faithful to Him even to the point of death,
instead of allowing them to live long lives to their satisfaction,
is in God’s word,
and God’s word is God’s will,
and God’s will is in God’s word.
So, how, Joseph Prince (Singlish)?
These many verses that I have quoted are not the only ones
but there are also many similar verses
that are found throughout the New Testament.
But what is more instructive is that
the best that Joseph Prince could do
is to show you an Old Testament text,
under the Old Covenant,
Psalm 91:16 NKJV
‘With long life I will satisfy him.
And show him my salvation.’
However, most of the passages that I have shown you
are New Testament texts under the New Covenant:
John 21:18-19; Matthew 16:24-26; Philippians 1:20-21, 29;
2 Timothy 3:12; 1 Peter 4:12 & Romans 14:7-8;
Luke 14:25-27, 33 & Revelation 2:10.
Do you know what I am driving at?
Here is Joseph Prince
trying to prove a New Covenant principle of long-life
through an Old Testament text.
Here I am
showing you many New Testament texts
that disprove Joseph Prince’s long-life blessing
is for every believer under the New Covenant.
7. The Blessing of Long Life is not unconditional both under the Old Covenant and the New.
Furthermore, Joseph Prince, being the unrepentant deceiver,
has once again used the half-truth strategy to mislead people.
He flashes out Psalm 91:16
but he hides Psalm 91:14-15 from you.
He only shows you Psalm 91:16
but he keeps you from noticing other relevant verses
such as Deuteronomy 30:19-20; 5:32-33; 6:2;
Proverbs 10:27; 3:1-2; 9:10-11; 1 Kings 3:14
and Exodus 20:12 (see below).
If you read Psalm 91:14-16 (and not just Psalm 91:16 alone),
you would realise that the promise of long life
isn’t an unqualified promise for every believer
that Joseph Prince has made it out to be.
Long life isn’t an unconditional promise
for every believer even under the Old Covenant.
There is a condition that must be fulfilled
before one can claim the promise.
The promise of long life in Psalm 91:16a
is only given to one
who has fulfilled the condition in Psalm 91:14a:
one who “has his heart set on me,” (CSB),
or “trusts me,” (ERV)
or “lovingly devoted to Me,” (HCSB)
or “loves me,” (NCV):
Psalm 91:14-16 CSB
14 Because he has his heart set on me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows my name. 15 When he calls out to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and give him honor. 16 I will satisfy him with a long life and show him my salvation.
Psalm 91:14-16 ERV
14 The Lord says, “If someone trusts me, I will save them. I will protect my followers who call to me for help. 15 When my followers call to me, I will answer them. I will be with them when they are in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them. 16 I will give my followers a long life and show them my power to save.”
Psalm 91:14-16 HCSB
14 Because he is lovingly devoted to Me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he knows My name. 15 When he calls out to Me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble. I will rescue him and give him honor. 16 I will satisfy him with a long life and show him My salvation.
Psalm 91:14-16 NCV
14 The Lord says, “Whoever loves me, I will save. I will protect those who know me. 15 They will call to me, and I will answer them. I will be with them in trouble; I will rescue them and honor them. 16 I will give them a long, full life, and they will see how I can save.”
What Joseph Prince has done
is that he had quoted the half-truth of Psalm 91:16,
Psalm 91:16 NKJV
16 I will give them a long, full life, and they will see how I can save.”
but he has deceptively ‘hidden’ from you
the other half of the truth in Psalm 91:14-15:
Psalm 91:14-15 NKJV
14 The Lord says, “Whoever loves me, I will save. I will protect those who know me. 15 They will call to me, and I will answer them. I will be with them in trouble; I will rescue them and honor them.
Even in the larger context of the entire Old Testament,
several other relevant passages
prove that the promise of long life
isn’t an unconditional promise at all.
It is only promised to those
who love the Lord, listen to His voice, cling to Him (Deut 30:19-20),
obey God, follow Him, live the way God has commanded (Deut 5:32-33),
fear and obey God (Deut 6:2),
keep God’s laws (1 Kgs 3:14),
obey the Lord (Prov 10:27),
remember His teaching (Prov 3:1-2),
honour one’s parents (Ex 20:12)
and fear Him (Prov 9:10-11):
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 EHV
19 I call the heavens and the earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, a blessing and a curse. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live 20 by loving the Lord your God, by listening to his voice, and by clinging to him, because that means life for you, and you will live a long life on your land that the Lord swore to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Deuteronomy 5:32-33 ERV
32 “So you people must be careful to do everything the Lord commanded you. Do not stop following God! 33 You must live the way the Lord your God commanded you. Then you will continue to live, and everything will be fine with you. You will live a long life in the land that will belong to you.
Deuteronomy 6:2 NLT
2 and you and your children and grandchildren must fear the Lord your God as long as you live. If you obey all his decrees and commands, you will enjoy a long life.
1 Kings 3:14 GNT
14 And if you obey me and keep my laws and commands, as your father David did, I will give you a long life.”
Proverbs 10:27 GNT
27 Obey the Lord, and you will live longer. The wicked die before their time.
Proverbs 3:1-2 ERV
1 My son, don’t forget my teaching. Remember what I tell you to do. 2 What I teach will give you a good, long life, and all will go well for you.
Exodus 20:12 NLT
12 “Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Proverbs 9:10-11 ERV
10 Wisdom begins with fear and respect for the Lord. Knowledge of the Holy One leads to understanding. 11 Wisdom will help you live longer; she will add years to your life.”
What is more damaging to Joseph Prince’s position,
is that not just the Old Testament,
but the New Testament
doesn’t even have a single text
that supports his ‘long life-is-for-every-believer’ doctrine.
Joseph Prince has alluded to Ephesians 3:1-3
in his other sermons to prove his doctrine.
However, this passage also comes with the condition
that one should obey and honour his parents
before the blessing of long life could be claimed:
Ephesians 6:1-3 NIV
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
Yes, there are promises in the Bible
about the blessings of long life.
But there isn’t anywhere in the entire Bible
that teaches that the blessing of long life
is an unconditional promise for every believer,
both in the Old Covenant and the New.
If the promise of long life
isn’t an unqualified promise for every believer
even under the Old Covenant,
how can Joseph Prince,
based on an Old Testament text in Psalm 91:16,
teach that the same promise
is unconditionally given to every believer
under the New Covenant?
What is most detrimental to Prince’s position
is that the New Testament doesn’t even have a single text
that supports his ‘long life-is-for-every-believer’ doctrine.
8. The Joke is that Joseph Prince is trying to prove his New Covenant’s Long-life Doctrine from the Old Covenant.
The fact that Joseph Prince didn’t show you
any New Testament text under the New Covenant,
but only an Old Covenant text under the Old Covenant in Psalm 91:16
to prove his case,
indicate that something is indeed very fishy
about his assertion that every New Covenant believer
can live long lives to their satisfaction.
The chief scandal of Joseph Prince
is that he mainly uses the Old Covenant scriptures,
to showcase and prove his New Covenant long-life doctrine.
This goes to show that Prince is utterly inconsistent.
Prince has always been teaching
that the way God relates with the Old Covenant people
is different from how He relates with the New Covenant people.
He is at pains to stress
that much of Old Covenant doctrines
is not binding on New Covenant believers
because of the finished work of the cross.
He never gets tired about making the point
that the finished work of Christ
has, indeed, made the difference
between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant.
He teaches that the God of the Old Covenant
who is angry, punishes, judges, curses the Old Covenant people,
will never do the same with New Covenant people.
But when it comes to the long-life,
he changes his tune entirely.
He uses an Old Covenant passage in Psalm 91:16 and several others
to prove his long-life doctrine.
He relies heavily on Old Testament foundations
and teaches that
just as God had blessed the Old Covenant people with long-life,
He will do the same for New Covenant people.
So, Joseph Prince is really confusing all of us
– are we in the Old Covenant or the New Covenant?
Joseph Prince, by using the Old Covenant principles,
is effectively saying we, the New Covenant believers
are still under the Old Covenant.
Do you see how inconsistent and self-contradictory Joseph Prince is
when it comes to his doctrine of long life?
On the one hand,
Joseph Prince says that much of the Old Covenant scriptures
are not binding on New Covenant believers,
and so, our priority and focus
should be the New Covenant scriptures.
On the other hand, when it suits his agenda
to support his Grace Theology,
such as the long-life doctrine,
he switches frequency
and harks back to Old Covenant passages.
Instead of harking back to the Old Covenant scriptures,
Joseph Prince ought to build his long-life doctrine
purely based on New Covenant passages
since he is the champion and leading voice
of the New Covenant Theology.
But the trouble is he can’t anyway.
This is because there is no text or verse
in the New Testament
that teach that the unconditional promise of long life
is for every New Covenant believer.
9. Joseph Prince’s long-life doctrine contradicts his core doctrine about the demarcation between the Old Covenant and the New.
I thought Prince frequently said and taught
that the Old Covenant before the cross
does not apply to New Covenant believers after the cross.
Despite that, Joseph Prince alludes
to an Old Testament text in Psalm 91:16
to support ‘his long life to your satisfaction’ New Covenant doctrine:
16 With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”
In doing so, Joseph Prince is blatantly contradicting himself.
This is because, according to his grace doctrine,
Psalm 91:16, which happened before the cross,
is under the Old Covenant
and does not apply to New Covenant believers at all.
In ‘Grace Revolution’, Joseph Prince wrote:
“You can’t simply take something
that was recorded and spoken
during the dispensation of the law of the old covenant,
and apply it to new covenant believers today.
Likewise, you cannot take what was recorded and spoken
before the cross of Jesus
and apply it to new covenant believers today.”
In ‘Unmerited Favor’, Joseph Prince wrote:
In fact, the new covenant
begins after the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Hence, the cross is our clearest marking point
of where the new covenant begins.”
In ‘Destined To Reign’, Joseph Prince wrote:
“The new covenant
only begins after the cross,
when the Holy Spirit was given on the day of Pentecost.”
If the New Covenant only begins after the cross,
as Joseph Prince has written,
how can he use Psalm 91:16,
which happened before the cross
and under the Old Covenant
to support his New Covenant
‘long-life is to your satisfaction’ doctrine?
Can you see how self-contradictory this unprincipled man is?
How on earth could people ever trust this fellow
for the inconsistent and self-contradictory way
he handled Bible texts?
In the light of the above,
when passages in the Old Testament go against his teaching,
Joseph Prince would say,
“Oh, these are Old Covenant passages
that say that God is angry with Old Covenant believers,
but they are no longer relevant to us
as God can never get angry with New Covenant believers.”
But when Old Covenant passages
suit his grace theology, like in this case
when he invoked Psalm 91:16
as the basis to teach that long life
is for every New Covenant believer,
Joseph Prince would say,
“Well, though Psalm 91:16 is an Old Covenant passage,
it can be seen through New Covenant lenses,
and interpreted in the light of the New Covenant
and Christ’s death on the cross.”
This is yet another case of blatant double-talking,
proving that Joseph Prince,
is, indeed, a serial double-talker.
If Joseph Prince still insists on using Psalm 91:16
as the basis for teaching the New Covenant truth
that every New Covenant believer
can live life for as long as he wants to his satisfaction,
then he has to publicly recant the following:
If Joseph Prince refuses to recant the above,
this means he is not permitted to use Psalm 91:16
as the basis to teach his New Covenant long-life doctrine.
His refusal also means
he is not only contradicting
but he is also lying against his own teaching.
10. Joseph Prince’s use of only Old Covenant characters instead of New Covenant characters, to prove his New Covenant long- life doctrine is indeed fishy.
In the sermon (sermon 1) on 13 August 2023, 2 Sundays ago,
Joseph Prince alluded to the examples of
Abraham in Genesis 25:8,
Isaac in Genesis 35:29,
David in 1 Chronicles 29:28
and Job in Job 42:17,
who had lived long lives
to prove his long-life doctrine.
(This was not reflected in sermon 1
because of time and space.)
But why is Joseph Prince using Old Testament characters
under the Old Covenant
to prove his New Covenant doctrine
that every New Covenant believer can live long lives?
But why didn’t Joseph Prince use New Testament characters
such as Paul, Peter, James and Stephen (deacon) etc?
Isn’t Paul, Peter, James, and Stephen
who are New Covenant saints,
more fitting choices
than Abraham, Isaac, David and Job
who were Old Covenant believers
– as, after all, we are in the New Covenant?
Isn’t Paul Joseph Prince’s hero
– as he has constantly been telling the world
that Paul is his mentor
that he has learned much of his grace theology from?
Isn’t it logical that the poster-boy of his long-life doctrine
ought to be Paul rather than Abraham?
People of God
– you ought to realise by now,
why Joseph Prince couldn’t pick Paul
– as Paul didn’t enjoy the blessing of long life
but his life was cut short by martyrdom.
Of course, you know the reason
why Joseph Prince didn’t pick Peter, James and Stephen?
11 out of 12 disciples of Jesus, including Peter and James
and the deacon Stephen
had their lives shortened by martyrdom
and didn’t live the long lives that Joseph Prince is rooting for.
If living long life is a New Covenant promise for every believer
that Joseph Prince claimed,
why didn’t Jesus Himself and the Apostles,
being the first batch of New Covenant believers,
exemplify it?
Did Jesus Himself live a long life?
Absolutely not!
He lived a short life of only 33,
and yet, He achieved man’s salvation on Calvary’s tree.
Friends, it is not the length of your life that really matter,
but the depth of your life that really counts.
And this was so well and aptly illustrated in the life of Jesus.
Joseph Prince has always claimed to be preaching Jesus.
But why is the Jesus whom he claimed to be preaching
not exemplified in his teaching
as one who had lived a long life?
And why didn’t Jesus mention a single time
about the blessing of long life
that New Covenant believers are entitled to.
Do you sense the total disconnect
between Joseph Prince’s teachings
and that of Jesus and Paul
and the entire counsel of the New Testament scriptures?
11. If long life is a blessing for every New Covenant believer, why are the lives of about 70,000 believers cut short by COVID-19?
Joseph Prince needs to answer this question
– if living a long life is what every believer is entitled to,
why are the lives of about 70,000 believers cut short by COVID-19
(assuming a very conservative estimate
that 1% of the 6.955 million people
who had died from the disease are believers)?
If long life is a blessing that every believer can claim,
why did believers who were caught in World Wars 1 and 2,
and the most recent Russia-Ukraine war,
have their lives terminated before their time?
Conclusion
In conclusion, what is most disturbing is that Joseph Prince
literally teaches that how long you wish to live
is your choice and up to your satisfaction.
If you choose to live beyond 90,
God, as your Genie, will grant that to you.
If you wish to reach the age of 100,
God will fulfil your request
as long as you are satisfied.
You alone determine the length of your days
and how long you would live on earth
and God would have to go along with your wish and fulfil it
as long as you are satisfied.
By doing that,
Joseph Prince is literally making us God
who can decide how long we want to live
and God as our servant
to merely carry out our wishes.
Joseph Prince is so arrogant
that he is starting to act like God,
when he claimed that believers can live
for as long as they are satisfied.
and that he will be the first in Singapore to live to 120!
If Joseph Prince can teach
such outrageous and abominable doctrines
how can he not be a heretic?
How can a Singapore Methodist Bishop
and Singapore Presbyterian Pastor
say Joseph Prince is not a heretic?
Friends, life and death are sacred issues,
which are not in Joseph Prince’s hands to be bandied about,
but they belong to God alone.
Only God can decide
how long or short a life any believer (and unbeliever) can live.
