In a Sunday sermon, Joseph Prince said;

“But actually, what was He (Jesus) saying?

He’s (Jesus) saying,

‘You sure you want to come after me,’

like a rabbi teacher kind of thing.

‘Now, you don’t realise,

you got to forsake everything that you have.’

It’s almost like, you feel like,

He’s not comfortable in His response.

He didn’t want that.”

So, Joseph Prince said that

Jesus does not want His disciples to call Him teacher,

and is, in fact, uncomfortable with it.

This is not the only time Joseph Prince teaches that,

but also on several occasions in his other sermons.

In a Sunday sermon, Joseph Prince said;

Please click here to view the 25-second video:

“If you have a message by the Apostle Paul, and you said,

‘Paul, will the real gospel please stand up,’

because nowadays,

when I go to YouTube, it’s so confusing.

There’s this Lordship salvation.

People say that unless He’s Lord of all, He’s not Lord at all.

Finished.

That’s not the gospel.

It’s one of the things that’s very rampant.

It’s unfortunate when people are hungry,

they go to YouTube or social media.

A lot of these is out there.

Lordship salvation.”

So, Joseph Prince teaches that the Lordship salvation,

in which we must not only accept Jesus as Saviour,

but also as Lord,

is not the gospel.

But in a Sunday sermon aired on YouTube

5 days ago, on 28 Jan 2024, Joseph Prince said;

Please click here to view the 15-second video:

“And by the way, notice the inversion Jesus used

‘You call me Teacher and Lord,’

Jesus answered.

‘If I then your Lord and Teacher,’

there’s inversion.

So, a lot of people want to follow Jesus as an example, then Lord.

Jesus says, accept me as Lord, and then you can do.”

Frankly, what Joseph Prince attempts to explain about the text

in John 13:13-14 is not important.

But what’s important is that

Joseph Prince flashed the text in John 13:13-14

to hang himself:

Jn 13:13-14 NKJV

13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.

Hey Joe, you aren’t that intelligent, are you?

You have just revealed a text

that is tantamount to shooting yourself in the foot!

This text will show that you are a recalcitrant double-talker

and an unrepentant liar.

Li Pichiak Lobang Liao (your false teaching is exposed).

Now, I am speaking to the audience.

Is it not clear to you that from the text in John 13:13-14,

it was Jesus’ desire for His disciples

to call Him both as Lord and Teacher?

John 13:13-14 NKJV

13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher,

No one, not even a primary 6 student can miss that.

In a previous sermon video,

Joseph Prince said that

Jesus does not want His disciples to call Him teacher.

In another previous sermon video,

Joseph Prince teaches against the Lordship salvation

– the teaching that we must not only accept Jesus as Saviour,

but also as Lord.

But in this sermon on 28 Jan 2024, 5 days ago,

in the text of John 13:13-14,

that Joseph Prince flashed on the screen,

it is as clear as daylight

that it was Jesus’ desire for His disciples

to call Him as both Lord and Teacher.

If Joseph Prince changes his mind

– that Jesus is to be called both as Lord and Teacher,

as reflected in John 13:13-14,

then he has to recant what he said

in the 2 previous sermon videos.

where he teaches against Lordship salvation

and against treating Jesus as Teacher.

If he refuses to recant,

then Joseph Prince is clearly not only contradicting himself

between what he said in this sermon on 28 Jan 2024, 5 days ago,

and what he said in those 2 previous sermons,

but he is also lying against the desires of Jesus

that He wanted to be called Lord and Teacher

by His disciples.

How can Joseph Prince

who lied against the call and desires of Jesus

be said to be Christ-centred

and be preaching the Jesus of the Bible?

Friends, Joseph Prince is a son of the devil

and he is empowered by Satan to do his bidding.

This is not the first time Jesus’ disciples called Him Lord and Teacher (Jn 13:13-14).

In ‘The New International Commentary on the New Testament, The Gospel of John,’

J. Ramsey Michaels wrote:

“This is in keeping with the address, “Rabbi,” or “Teacher,”

which the disciples have used from the start,

with the single exception of Jn 6:68,

where Simon Peter on their behalf addressed Jesus as “Lord.”

Interestingly, it was at that point that Jesus first called them “the Twelve” (Jn 6:70).

In this chapter John 11,

the terminology changes to “Lord,” on the lips of the disciples (v. 12),

Mary and Martha (see vv. 3, 21, 27, 32, 34, 39),

and the disciples consistently thereafter (see 13:6, 9, 25; 14:5, 8, 22; 21:15, 16, 17, 20, and above all 20:28).

Jesus, however, endorses both titles (Jn 13:13),

and the distinction should not be exaggerated (see Jn 11:28,

where Martha refers to him as “the teacher,” and 20:16).”
