Joseph Prince has no business moralising about half-truths & lies when he is the chief culprit who perpetrates such misdemeanours – nauseating! – By Rev George Ong (Dated 12 Jul 2024)
Some comments on John 14:1-3 regarding my last article:
There is a reason why I began my last article with
the following:
You may be stunned
after viewing the YouTube video
and reading the Article.
I believe many of you were, indeed, stunned
as I had expected.
Some of you were wondering whether I was aware
that there were many excellent Bible commentators
(not of the Joseph Prince’s type)
who take the words, ‘Father’s house’
as referring to heaven.
Of course, I am aware.
For those who know me,
I am a very thorough man.
I couldn’t be that slipshod as not to examine what
many excellent Bible commentators have written
especially for a ‘controversial’ topic as this.
But you have to ask a few pertinent questions.
Did I follow the ‘rules’ and the proper process of exegesis
in my interpretation of John 14:1-3?
I believe I have.
As an example, I wrote in my article:
But there is nowhere in the entire scripture
that the “Father’s house” refers to heaven.
We cannot arbitrarily assign a meaning to this phrase
without biblical precedent.
There is no precedent in scripture
for supposing my “Father’s house” means heaven.
But the truth is the “Father’s house” in scripture
usually means the earthly temple.
In the light of this,
as for the many excellent Bible commentators
that some of you may have referred to,
did they give valid reasons why Father’s house
ought to refer to heaven?
Did they give reasons
why they are making an exception
that Father’s house in John 14:2
is referring to heaven
even though there is no precedent that Father’s house
has ever been use to refer to heaven
in the entire scriptures?
Even if they have,
did you analyse whether their reasons given are plausible.
I would encourage you to do this
instead of just saying
many Bible commentators said this or that.
Be a Berean and arrived at your own understanding
after studying the various views.
I have always said
that Joseph Prince is a Lone Ranger Heretic and he is.
But sometimes, we need to be a Lone Ranger too,
not in the Joseph Prince sense
but in this sense:
Are you aware
that Martin Luther had to contend alone
against the whole church?
Are you aware
that Jeremiah had to prophesied alone
against the whole nation?
Are you aware
that Noah had to stand alone
against the whole world?
Will you dare to be so radical
that you are willing to be the one and only person
in the whole world
to follow God and go against the tide,
criticisms, opinions of the whole world?
Well, Noah did.
One man was right;
the whole world was wrong.
One man saved his whole family of eight;
the whole world perished in the judgement of the flood.

In conclusion,
I have proven, as I had many times on this website,
that Joseph Prince,
who called himself a preacher of the grace gospel,
is a specialist at using half-truths and lies to deceive people.
For a preacher to do that is already repulsive.
But what is most disgusting and nauseating
is that the one who is commits such misdeeds
unrepentantly and with alarming frequency
is now moralizing and educating us on such dangers
that he is most guilty of.
(This article was also sent to Rev Dr Ngoei Foong Nghian, General Secretary, National Council of Churches of Singapore (NCCS) office, and for the attention of the Executive Committee Members.)
In the sermon on 7 July 2024, 5 days ago,
Joseph Prince said;
“One guy preached one time.
None of us know that we are saved or not until we die.
My Bible tells me these things are written
that you may know you have eternal life.
God’s word always deals with verilies.
And the verilies is Amen, Amen, certainties.
God deals with sureness.
Certainties, verilies,
even double verilies.
I say unto you, Amen, Amen.
Truly, truly, I say to you.
Doesn’t deal and speculate maybe, maybe so, you know.
Only the Bible can be right, middle of the road,
yet authoritative.
Doesn’t swerve in its truth.
In a world that’s filled with half-truths,
sometimes complete lies, deck up, decorated like truths.”
In Joseph Prince’s efforts to educate us
about the evils of half-truths and lies,
isn’t he aware that he is the chief culprit
who perpetrates the same half-truths and lies
that he is warning people of?
This is nauseating!
If you follow the articles on this website
you would be fully aware
that this is what Joseph Prince frequently does.
I have caught Joseph Prince time after time,
spewing out half-truths and lies
from what he said on videos
and what he wrote in his books.
When Joseph Prince said:
“My Bible tells me these things are written
that you may know you have eternal life.
God’s word always deals with verilies,”
yes, he is speaking the truth,
but he is only giving you the half-truth.
But when Joseph Prince despised what someone said:
“One guy preached one time.
None of us know that we are saved or not until we die,”
he is clouding the truth.
This is because there is some measure of truth
in the statement.
It is true that when God saves us,
He will never go back on His word.
We can certainly trust every word
that God says in His word.
Yet, there is no guarantee
that man will not walk out of his commitment to God.
He may be committed to believe at the start
But over time, he may apostatise and leave the faith.
So, in that sense,
this statement that Joseph Prince despised is true:
“One guy preached one time.
None of us know that we are saved or not until we die.”
In an interview, Michael Brown said;
So, there’s clearly no guarantee
that everyone in the Lord
will stay in the Lord.
There is a real possibility
that someone can apostatise
like we have through the whole Bible.
And there is no guarantee
that the person will come back.
So, it’s a sacred task to help bring a straying believer back.
And by bringing them back,
we saved them from death and cover a multitude of sins.
He will not force us to stay.
If someone says,
‘I do not want God anymore,’
then we can leave and walk away.
That’s always been the case.
We’ve always had the choice
and it happens throughout the Bible.
And that’s why there are so many warnings
in the New Testament.”
In a sermon, David Pawson said;
“Did you know
that there are over 80 passages in the New Testament
that warn Christians not to lose what they got in Christ?
80, and most of them are ignored or overlooked
or not preached about.
But they are serious.”
In an interview, Ben Witherington III said;
“It’s not over till it’s over.
No Christian life should be judged in advance.
There wasn’t some kind of airtight guarantee of salvation
regardless of your belief or behaviour.
Salvation has 3 tenses.
I have been saved.
I am being saved.
I shall be saved.
And until you get through all 3 tenses,
the situation is not resolved.”
From what Michael Brown, David Pawson
and Ben Witherington III said,
there is every possibility
that believers may apostatise and walk out on God.
So, in that sense, what Joseph Prince has cast scorn
over what this person, who said,
“One guy preached one time.
None of us know that we are saved or not until we die,”
is actually true in our human and our salvation experience.
But this wasn’t accounted for in what Joseph Prince said.
This is because Joseph Prince only shows you the half-truth
about passages in the Bible
that talk about the certainty of our salvation.
But Joseph Prince has hidden many passages from you
that talk about that the fact that we can lose what we got.
Let me give you an example:
In a teaching session, George Ong said;
“But the one who endures to the end,
he will be saved.”
Now, Jesus did not say this,
‘The one who is saved will endure to the end.’
Tell me the difference.
Jesus said this; He didn’t say this.
But Jesus did not say this.
Jesus said, ‘He who endures will be saved.’
If you don’t endure, you won’t be saved.
The onus is on you, you know.
I mean, of course, don’t get me wrong.
In our sanctification efforts,
we better cry out to God, ‘boy’.
‘God help me to endure.
Help me to make to; God, help me, Lord.’
But the onus is on us.
Don’t push it back to God.
Joseph Prince, clever.
He teaches a very feel-good theology.
Everything is about Christ; everything is about God.
No, it’s not about you. It’s all about Christ.
Christianity is done, done, done, not, do, do, do.
Why?
Because his Christianity is only justification.
Christ has done, done, done for us.
So, you don’t have to do, do, do.
But that’s false.
We not only have to accept
that Christ has done, done, done for us – justification.
After that, we better do, do, do.
This is one of those things we have to do.
We must endure.
If not, we give up half way, we won’t be saved.
You know Joseph Prince,
this kind of Christianity, as if it’s very spiritual.
It’s all about God. It’s all about Christ.
Not about you.
Who says it’s about you?
You endure; you’re hero.
No, no, no, it’s not about you.
It’s about God, you see, very spiritual.
That’s why people are deceived.
What does this (Matt 24:13) say?
He said, ‘You who endure.’
So, I’m only obeying the scriptures.
So, it is both about God and about you.
Justification is about God.
The righteousness of God in Christ is from God.
It’s not from you. You cannot buy it, cannot earn it.
But on the other hand, sanctification
– you have a role to play.
You must endure to the end.
We must endure.
We don’t just say
we have the righteousness of God in Christ
like what Joseph Prince teaches.
You’re alright, you’re once saved always saved.
No, he (Joseph Prince) teaches against Jesus.
Because Jesus did not say
you are once saved always saved.
He says the one who endures to the end,
he will be saved.”
In 3 teaching sessions, Derek Prince said;
“We’re going on to verse 13 (Matt 24:13):
‘But he who endures to the end shall be saved.’
The Greek is more precise.
It says,
‘He who has endured to the end shall be saved.’
So, you’re saved now, praise God for that,
but if you want to stay saved,
what do you have to do?
Endure, that’s right.
You’re saved now; to stay saved,
you and I will have to endure.
We have been clearly warned.
As I say, you’re saved now.
Will you be saved 10 years from now?
It depends on whether you have endured.
He who has endured to the end,
he will be saved.
Verse 13:
‘But he that shall endure unto the end,
the same shall be saved.’ (KJV)
Faith without endurance does not save.
The faith that saves
is a faith that will hold fast to the end.”
Now, I am sure you are beginning to understand
why Joseph Prince implied that our salvation is certain
and that it can never be shaken.
(In fact, this is what he taught in his many sermons and books
that we are once saved, always saved
and we are once righteous, always righteous,
no matter what.)
This is clearly a half-truth.
While God can never back out of His word to save us,
It is often men who walk out on him.
when they choose not to endure to the end
and lose what they got.
Many are deceived
as Joseph Prince has often hidden the other half of the truth;
verses like Matthew 24:13 from you.
(Even if he lays the verse before you,
he will twist the interpretation of it beyond recognition.)
Another half-truth verse
that Joseph Prince has hidden from you
is 1 Corinthians 15:2
In a teaching session, George Ong said;
“Okay, another verse (1 Cor 15:2 NIV).
‘2 By this gospel you are saved,
if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you.
Otherwise, you have believed in vain.’
You are saved, there is a condition.
Paul is the same as Jesus.
You are saved but there is a condition.
What is the condition? What is the condition?
You are saved; what is the condition?
If you hold firmly. If you hold firmly.
If you don’t, you have believed in vain.
So, it’s clear, you see.
How to twist this around?
So, Paul is also a sanctification (preacher).
He said,
‘Yes, you are saved but you have a part to play.’
You must keep holding on.
If you let go, you have believed in vain.’
In other words, it’s not Joseph Prince.
You don’t have to do anything.
You know, done, done, done.
Don’t have to do, do, do.
Paul said you have to do, ‘boy’.
You have to hold on, ‘boy’.
You have to hold firmly.”
The clear implication of Paul’s teaching
is that if you do not hold on to the word
that was preached to you,
you have believed in vain.
In that sense, no one can be certain about his salvation.
Yes, God will keep the end of His bargain.
He will never let us down.
But it is often men
who would let go of the faith they had placed in God.
And God will never force men to come back to Him
if this is what they want.
In the sermon on 7 July 2024, 5 days ago,
Joseph Prince said;
“You cannot appreciate the grace of God
until you see the severity of God.
The Bible says (Rom 11:22 NKJV), Paul says,
‘Behold the severity
and the goodness of God.’
But severe not to you, believers, child of God.
No.
God’s favour is on you.
His goodness is on you.
His severity, His judgment is on the wicked,
that God has given chance, time and time and time again
to believe in Him but they don’t.
They don’t want to.
Finally, the time comes.”
Joseph Prince blatantly lied in an out-of-context way
by saying that while the goodness of God applies to believers,
the severity of God only applies to unbelievers:
Romans 11:19-22 NKJV
19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.” 20 Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. 22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.
The truth is, in context,
both the goodness and severity of God
apply to believers.
In a teaching session, George Ong said;
“Romans 11:22.
Therefore, consider the kindness and sternness of God:
Sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you.
Now, Joseph Prince teach half-truth.
God is only kind.
But Paul never teach half-truth.
He says both stern and kind.
I mean it’s clear.
He can be stern to us.
Provided that you continue in His kindness.
Otherwise, you also will be cut off.
In other words, we have an important part to play.
We must continue in God’s kindness,
Otherwise, we’ll be cut off.
He (Paul) is trying to say
what happen to the Old Covenant people
will happen to us if we don’t continue.
Again, Paul is a sanctification preacher.
What you do or what you don’t do
can affect your salvation.
Those who are ‘cut off’ cannot be a reference
to those who were never saved.
Then those who want to explain
they were cut off because they were never saved,
you know what I mean,
always come up with this.
Those who are ‘cut off’
cannot be a reference to those who were never saved
because those who were never saved
never became attached.
Those who were ‘cut off’ were once attached.
A person cannot be attached to the olive tree
unless he was once in Christ.”
Paul taught that believers in the New Covenant
are no more secure than the Jews under the Old
because the position of the Gentiles
was conditional as theirs was – provided that
‘you continue in his kindness.
Otherwise you also will be cut off’ (V 22).
If God did not spare the natural branches (Jews)
he will not spare you either (Gentiles) (V21):
Romans 11:19-22 NKJV
19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.” 20 Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. 22 Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.
A plain reading of the passage will reveal that
Paul had only one audience in mind
– believers – New Covenant people.
There is no indication that in Romans chapter 11
that Paul was addressing 2 groups of people
– believers and unbelievers at the same time.
Furthermore, the Book of Romans
was written to believers, not unbelievers.
Even if it is true that goodness, not severity (only assuming)
was shown to believers,
Joseph Prince has hidden another half-truth from you
– that those who experience God’s goodness
must continue in His goodness,
otherwise, they will be cut off
and separated from God:
on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off. (Rom 11:22)
Paul’s point was that experiencing God’s goodness
doesn’t mean one is once saved, always saved
– there is a condition,
provided we continue in God’s goodness,
otherwise, we will be cut off.
Here, we are also told in V20-21
that we are not to be arrogant or haughty
but we are to ‘tremble’ (NIV) and ‘fear’ (NKJV)
because we are not unconditionally secure
as we can be cut off:
Romans 11:20-21 NKJV
20 Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either.
In other words, this means,
we need to have a healthy but solemn fear
about the fact that God can cut us off,
if we are arrogant towards Him
in a state of unbelief and disobedience.
To be cut off
means that we will forfeit our eternal inheritance in Christ.
There is something seemingly strange and unusual
given in V20-21.
The Bible, in many instances, assures us,
“Fear not, do not fear.”
You find prophets like Isaiah for example, said:
“Do not fear I am with you.”
When an angel appeared before the shepherds,
the first thing they said was,
“Do not fear.”
When the angel appeared to Mary,
the first thing the angels said,
“Do not fear.”
Throughout the Bible,
we have those assuring words,
“Do not fear, or fear not.”
But now in Romans 11:20,
it warns us to ‘tremble’ (NIV) and ‘fear’ (NKJV).
Why?
This is because Paul wanted to remind us
that though we are called not to fear
for the many issues of life,
there are certain issues
we should fear and we better fear.
Because if we walk around in wanton and wilful disobedience,
we are in grave danger of being cut off
and forfeiting the great inheritance of our salvation
which God has promised.
Let me repeat:
Those who are ‘cut off’
cannot be a reference to those who were never saved
because those who were never saved
never became attached.
Those who were ‘cut off’
were once attached.
A person cannot be attached to the olive tree
unless he was once in Christ.
So, Paul stressed that on issues
that concerns grave matters like our salvation,
we better fear and tremble.
This is totally contradictory to the teachings of Joseph Prince
– that as New Covenant believers,
we are not called to fear God,
the way that Old Covenant people feared Him.
Joseph Prince also further added another half-truth
that to fear God in the New Covenant way
is just to worship Him.
The half-truth specialist in action again.
While it is true that fearing God in the New Covenant
can sometimes be alluded to worship,
fearing God in many instances under the New Covenant
means fearing Him per se, period.
Take another look at Romans 11:20 (NKJV)
in the context of Romans 11:18-22,
and tell me whether this fear
refers to worshipping God or fearing God per se.
In conclusion,
I have proven, as I had many times on this website,
that Joseph Prince,
who called himself a preacher of the grace gospel,
is a specialist at using half-truths and lies to deceive people.
For a preacher to do that is already repulsive.
But what is most disgusting and nauseating
is that the one who is commits such misdeeds

If you read the following by Martyn Lloyd-Jones,
you will discover the many points that Lloyd-Jones made,
points starkly to Joseph Prince as a heretic, an idolater,
and his worship of false gods.
This is with regards to Joseph Prince’s false teachings

but He will never be severe with them;
and that New Covenant people should not fear God
the way Old Covenant people do.
In ‘Exposition of Romans Chapter 11, To God’s Glory,’
Martyn Lloyd-Jones said:
“God has revealed the truth concerning Himself
and for this particular object we are dealing with here
He has revealed not only His goodness
but also His severity.
And men and women get into trouble always
because instead of taking the revelation of the character of God
and His ways with respect to men
as we have it revealed in the Bible,
they substitute their own ideas for that,
or they take a part of the teaching of the Bible
and they reject the remainder.
You can see immediately
how this is so applicable at this present time.
…. There is no such thing as the wrath of God,
there is no justice, there is no severity.
… They have got partial notions; they pick and choose.
They accept what they like,
they reject what they do not like.
In other words, they do not worship God at all,
they worship an image
which they themselves have erected.”
In ‘Exposition of Romans Chapter 11, To God’s Glory,’
Martyn Lloyd-Jones said:
“But remember that the Apostle preaches and inculcates
the constant need of humility,
of godly fear, and of watchfulness.
Look at it in verses 20 and 21 (Rom 11:20-21):
‘Well; because of unbelief they were broken off,
and thou standest by faith.
Be not high-minded,
but fear.’
‘What?’ you say,
‘Is it part of the gospel of Christ
to tell people to be afraid, to fear?’
It is.
Not the popular gospel of today perhaps,
but it is the New Testament gospel.
Fear! ‘Be not high-minded, but fear’.
‘For if God spared not the natural branches,
take heed lest he also spare not thee.’
You watch the ‘take heeds’ of the New Testament in the Epistles.
‘Take heed!’ ‘Watch!’ ‘Fear!’ ‘Be careful!’”
In ‘Exposition of Romans Chapter 11, To God’s Glory,’
Martyn Lloyd-Jones said:
“Let me say finally that every failure
to realize the truth of Romans 11:22
leads to a lack of godliness,
a lack of ‘the fear of the Lord’.
It leads to a lightness, a glibness, a superficiality,
a self-contentment, and finally, this ugly boastfulness.
… How often do you hear people talking
about ‘the fear of the Lord’?
But, you see, those are the terms
that are used in the Bible.
Take for instance in that most lyrical book,
the Book of the Acts of the Apostles;
I read this in chapter 9 and verse 31:
‘Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied’.
Why is this so true of us today,
that there is not much evidence of ‘the fear of the Lord’?
We all must be bright and breezy,
back slapping and happy.
That is not in the Bible!
‘The fear of the Lord’.”
… The way in which he puts it is by saying ‘Behold therefore’.
Do not forget this word ‘therefore’.
It means that the doctrine which he is going to put before them
is obviously the conclusion they ought to arrive at.
‘Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God’.
The answer to all our troubles
is to know the truth about God,
to believe it, and to be subjected to and pervaded by it.
Well, what is this and how do we obtain it?
The answer is we obtain it only through God’s own revelation.
You have got to start with that.
You must not start by saying,
‘Now I cannot believe that God can … ’
The moment you say that, you have left the Bible,
you have rejected revelation,
you are thinking of yourself
and are making your own ‘god’.
You are guilty of idolatry.
Very well, we start with this revelation,
but – and this is the thing that the Apostle emphasises here
and which we must emphasise
– you must not only submit yourself utterly,
absolutely to the revelation
which God has so graciously given of Himself
and recorded in the Bible, you must take it as it is.
What do I mean?
Well, I mean that you must take to heart the word
‘and’ in the expression
‘the goodness and severity of God’.
‘What do you mean?’ asks someone.
What I mean is that
‘Behold therefore the goodness of God’
is the modern cry.
Only goodness!
Not goodness and severity.
And it is because the modern world
and the modern church
is leaving out this ‘and’ that things are as they are,
and I see no hope of restoration until we have restored it.
I do not see any hope of revival
until people have got hold of this,
then they will be humble.
We have got to take the revelation as it is.
If you pick and choose with revelation
you might as well be a philosopher,
because you are acting as if you were one.
The philosopher as such is not interested in the Bible at all.
He starts with his own thoughts and works it out.
You say, ‘Ah no! No, no, I believe the Bible’.
But do you believe the Bible?
If you say you do, then believe it as it is.
Do not take one aspect only;
do not say ‘I believe in the goodness of God’.
No, you have got to believe also in the severity of God.
Goodness and severity.
How much do we know about the severity of God?
How much time have we given
to a consideration of the severity of God?
… Indeed it seems to me
this is creeping even into Evangelicalism.
Only one side is represented
– the goodness, the love of God, the mercy,
the kindness and the compassion,
and we are hearing less and less and less
about the severity,
the justice, the righteousness,
the wrath of God upon sin.
That is where all our troubles come from.
That is why the church is as she is.
Now I would put this point in this way,
that we have got to realize, says the Apostle here,
that when God acts, the whole of God acts.
God does not act in parts.
God acts always in the light of all His attributes
and they are all in operation at exactly the same time.
All the attributes of God are always displayed together
– ‘the goodness “and” the severity’ of God.
And we must never isolate any one of the attributes of God
– that is the modern heresy
– the love of God has been isolated from all the others.
And it is a form of idolatry,
it is a form of unbelief,
it is a form of philosophy and speculation.
We must not only not isolate any one of the attributes of God,
still less must we ever ‘play’ one of the attributes
against the others.
That is equally bad.
Often men have done that
– they have set the righteousness of God against the mercy of God,
and the mercy of God against the righteousness of God.
In this same way goodness
has been opposed to severity and vice versa.
You must not set them against one another.
Not only do not isolate them,
do not play them against one another.
God is everything that He is, always.
He is goodness, severity, love, holiness and light.
All these things are always true of God
and they are always true at the same time.
Goodness and severity;
justice and mercy;
righteousness and peace;
holiness and love
– and so on.
And this is of course the very special point
that the Apostle is making here and is emphasising.
He says, You know if you begin to extract certain things,
as it were, out of the character of God
you will soon be in trouble, you will soon go astray,
and it will happen to you as it has happened to these Jews
against whom you are now boasting;
but you are travelling the same road.
That is exactly the mistake they made,
they say ‘Ah, God has chosen us,
and because God has chosen us we are all right’.
They had forgotten the justice and the righteousness of God,
they had forgotten what God had said to them through Moses,
recorded there in the Book of Deuteronomy
– ‘I am leading you into this land; do not trust in yourselves and say, “We are all right for ever”. If you do not keep on, then . . .’
That is God!
