the Senior Pastor of Covenant Evangelical Free Church,
whom my wife, Kwee Siew and I have known
for 36 years,
for conducting the funeral of my father-in-law
yesterday, 16 Oct 2024.
Through my sister-in-law, Jade Ng,
who is a member of the church,
Rev Tony Yeo led my father-in-law
in the nick of time to Christ.
I do not have the luxury of space to elaborate
but suffice to say
that it is through a series of God-orchestrated incidents,
that my father-in-law
finally came to know Christ on his death-bed
and we can testify that his salvation is genuine.
We thank the many family members,
relatives and friends,
who have prayed fervently
for the salvation of my father-in-law.
My wife, Kwee Siew,
has prayed for the salvation of her family
for about 50 years.
Kwee Siew was the first who came to know Christ,
in her family of 6 in 1974.
And God gave her the assurance
that her whole household (Acts 16:31)
comprising her 3 other siblings and her parents
will be saved.
Indeed, this came true.
One by one, all her family members were saved,
except for her father.
If you know the character of my father-in-law,
who is a very strong-willed man
and has been resisting the Gospel for so many years,
you will agree that it is indeed a miracle
that he was finally saved.
As my wife has shared in the funeral service,
it was indeed God who had granted her birthday wish
whose birthday is on 7 Oct,
because her father accepted Christ on 6 Oct 2024.
Rev Tony Yeo led my father-in-law
to say the sinner’s prayer
about 1 week before his death,
and baptised him on 12 Oct 2024
about 5 hours before he passed on from this earth
on 13 Oct 2024 at about 1 am.
It is our joy to know that he is living eternally
in the presence of God.

Kwee Siew shared her 3-minute eulogy
at her father’s funeral yesterday, 16 Oct 2024.
May her testimony
about how she persistently prayed for 50 years
for the salvation of her family
and especially her father,
which was graciously answered by God,
encourage you to pray
for the salvation of your loved ones.
I can testify that my father-in-law
nearly didn’t make it because of his strong will.
But thank God that God finally came through for him
in the nick of time.
His grace and mercies indeed endure forever.

Note that deathbed conversions, such as the dying thief,
are the exceptions rather than the norm.
The norm for true conversions,
besides justification,
is a life of sanctification and discipleship.

of Joseph Prince’s false word of knowledge
and false prophecy
in my last Article,
be warned that Joseph Prince,
especially from now onwards
will scheme with his people in New Creation Church
even more
to lie about their healings
just to prove that his word of knowledge
or prophecy is vindicated.
They can lie in 2 ways.
One is deliberately lying that they are healed
when they aren’t.
The other is that they would say they are healed
or a certain growth has disappeared,
even though they aren’t healed
or the growth is still there
because they are following Joseph Prince’s teaching
that they must act healed,
with the belief that that is a statement of faith
to eventually be healed
or to see the growth disappeared.
So, when these people were to testify publicly
in the worship services that they are healed,
you must take it with a pinch of salt.
Most of his people are ardent followers
and cult members of Joseph Prince,
and they would go to ridiculous lengths,
even to lie,
to make Joseph Prince succeed.
I will only believe Joseph Prince
and the testimonies of people that he belts out
of people healed,
if he were to conduct regular healing meetings
by opening them to the public,
who are not supporters of Joseph Prince.
But Joseph Prince will never dare to do it
as his supporters are not there
to play the healing game with him,
and he will be exposed
for his healing and word of knowledge scam.

Joseph Prince and especially
his right-hand man, Lawrence Lim
is getting more worried,
especially after I had exposed Lawrence Lim
for falsely declaring someone was healed
when she wasn’t.
And I had also exposed him
for solemnising or officiating or blessing
the third marriage of a Singapore DJ, Glenn Ong
who is twice-divorced.

George Ong’s comments:
Charles Spurgeon made 2 crucial points:
First, one cannot profess the name of Jesus
without knowing what discipleship involves.
Second, there is no salvation
apart from true discipleship.
This means Joseph Prince, who rejects discipleship
as being necessary for New Covenant believers,
isn’t saved to begin with.
This includes the millions of souls
that Joseph Prince has deceived
– that there is no discipleship
in the New Covenant.

In a sermon 4 days ago, 13 Oct 2024, Joseph Prince said;
“If God speaks,
but even an angel appears and all that,
and is not consistent with the Bible,
it’s not God.
It’s an angel of light.
It’s demonic,
a scammer.”
I’ll prove to you
that by Joseph Prince’s own words
and doctrines which are inconsistent with the Bible,
such as discipleship,
he has confirmed for himself
that he is under the angel of light (Satan),
and the influence of the demonic
and a scammer
because he claims that he’s speaking the oracles of God,
but in actual fact, he’s preaching things
that are blatantly inconsistent with the Bible.
For those who are following my website closely,
you will know that there are many proofs
that I have marshalled on this website.
But let me just show one proof.
In a sermon, Joseph Prince said;
“And the disciples
were first called ‘Christians’ in Antioch (Acts 11:26).
What are you?
You are not a disciple anymore.
The disciples are now called Christians.
So, He (Holy Spirit) renamed the disciples for the first time.
In Acts again, He (Holy Spirit) named them what?
The disciples were first called ‘Christians’ in Antioch.
So, which is more important?
The disciples the names are changed to Christians.
We should be calling each other sons of God or Christian.”
The fact that ‘the Holy Spirit’
isn’t found in Acts 11:26 at all,
and is completely absent in Acts 11:26,
Joseph Prince’s stand that it was the Holy Spirit
who called the ‘disciples’ ‘Christians’
is wildly adding into God’s word
and blatantly lying.
In order for Joseph Prince’s view
that it was the Holy Spirit
who called ‘disciples’ ‘Christians’
and that it was the same Spirit
who replaced ‘disciples’ with ‘Christians’
to stand,
Prince had to add the words, ‘the Holy Spirit’
into the text of Acts 11:26.
Adding into God’s word is a forbidden sin
that any true teacher wouldn’t even dare to venture in
– yet, Joseph Prince has committed this audacious act again!
But even if it was true that the Holy Spirit was the one
who called ‘disciples’ ‘Christians’ in Acts 11:26
as Joseph Prince has postured,
there is never anywhere stated in Acts 11:26
and the entire scriptures
that the Holy Spirit has replaced ‘disciples’ with ‘Christians’.
Please take another closer look at Acts 11:26,
and tell me whether
you can find the word, ‘replaced’ or its equivalent
in the text?
Not an iota!
The text in Acts 11:26 plainly says:
“… The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.”
Joseph Prince has magically transformed
and twisted the words,
“were called” to “replaced by”
in the text.
Indeed, Joseph Prince has daringly lied against the Holy Spirit
by putting his words into the Holy Spirit’s mouth
when there isn’t a single piece of evidence
in the entire scriptures
that the Holy Spirit has replaced ‘disciples’ with ‘Christians’.
Again, assuming if it was true that the Holy Spirit
was the one who called ‘disciples’ ‘Christians’
as Joseph Prince has asserted,
plain logic, let alone Bible exegesis,
would dictate that
that doesn’t mean ‘Christians’ has replaced ‘disciples’.
Let’s take our former and late Prime Minister,
Mr Lee Kuan Yew, as an example.
Many of us would know
that Mr Lee Kuan Yew was also known as Harry,
and some of his friends called him ‘Harry’.
However, the fact that others called him Harry
doesn’t mean he is no longer called Lee Kuan Yew,
or that Harry (his ‘Christian’ name)
has replaced Lee Kuan Yew (Chinese name).
He was known as Lee Kuan Yew as most have addressed him,
or, alternatively, Harry, as some have called him.
This simply means that the former Prime Minister
can be called either Lee Kuan Yew or Harry,
depending on who called him,
and they would all be right
because they were referring to the same person.
Similarly, Acts 11:26,
26 … The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch,
doesn’t mean that ‘Christians’ have replaced ‘disciples’;
but that disciples,
which is the most common word for denoting believers,
are also now called Christians.
In other words,
whether people called them ‘disciples’ or ‘Christians’,
they are referring to the same people.
In a teaching session, George Ong said;
Why do I know,
how do I know that a disciple
and a Christian is the same thing?
These 2 words (large crowds)
or great multitudes as used in the NKJV.
Jesus places conditions of discipleship not to believers.
He gave this discipleship challenge to who?
Who are these people?
Yeah, they are large crowds.
They are unbelievers.
You know these are large crowd,
great multitudes following Him.
He is saying to unbelievers,
“You want to be my disciple,
you give up everything.”
So, Jesus is not talking to Christians
to make them better Christians, to be disciples.
That’s why many churches are still having this idea
that a disciple and a Christian
are 2 different persons.
They are the same person.
If you are not prepared to be a disciple,
you aren’t saved.
A disciple is a Christian.
A Christian is a disciple.
Joseph Prince has deceptively hidden this important fact from you
that even though ‘disciples’ were called ‘Christians’ in Acts 11:26,
they were still called ‘disciples’
in many other later passages in Acts:
Acts 13:52; 14:20; 14:21; 14:22; 14:28; 15:10; 16:1; 18:23; 18:27; 19:1; 19:9; 19:30; 20:1; 20:30; 21:4; 21:16.
This clearly indicates that the word ‘disciples’
has not fizzled out after Acts 11:26,
and provided concrete proof
that the name ‘Christians’ has not replaced ‘disciples’
but that both were synonymous names
used for New Covenant believers in Acts.
Joseph Prince has also hidden another fact from you
that while the word ‘Christians’ appeared only 2 times in Acts
and 3 times in the entire New Testament,
the word ‘disciples’ was mentioned 28 times in Acts
and a hefty 280 times in the New Testament
– clearly indicating that disciples
was a far more common term used to denote believers,
rather than Christians.
During Jesus’ earthly ministry,
those who believed in Him and chose to follow Him
were called disciples.
After Jesus’s death and resurrection,
the term ‘disciples’ was still used in Acts
and didn’t disappear from the scene.
Whenever the word disciple is used in the Book of Acts,
it refers to believers without exception.
All believers are called disciples.
Those who believed in Jesus
and were saved in the Book of Acts,
are called disciples.
One becomes a disciple
when he decides to become a believer.
In other words,
the terms ‘believers’ and ‘disciples’ are synonymous.
They refer to the same person.
In a teaching session, Derek Prince said;
“…And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.”
In other words,
Christian only occurs three times in the New Testament.
That’s one of its uses.
What kind of people were called Christians?
Disciples.
That’s right.
Those who are not disciples,
have no right to call themselves Christians.
No Biblical right.
I’ll tell you the problem about making church members
who are not disciples.
Number one, they give the world a false picture
of what Christianity is.
How many times have you heard people says,
“Well, if that’s what Christianity is
I don’t want any part of it.”
I wouldn’t either.
But it isn’t what Christianity is.
The demonstration of Christianity
is disciples.”
Furthermore, there are many other synonyms
used to refer to those who are believers in Christ:
‘disciple’, ‘Christian’, ‘saint’, ‘brethren’,
‘the elect’, ‘people of God’, etc.
These have not replaced one another
but, generally speaking,
they can be used in place of one another.
Disciples are also called ‘Christians’,
in the same way
that they can also be addressed as ‘saints’
or ‘the people of God’ or ‘the elect’,
because they are synonyms,
and not because ‘disciples’ have been replaced by ‘Christians’
as Joseph Prince has falsely alleged.
Disciples and believers/Christians
are terms that are used interchangeably in the Book of Acts
– definitely implying they are synonymous
and have the same meaning.
In the Book of Acts
which documents the history of New Testament Christianity,
and arising from the church’s obedience
to Christ’s Great Commission to make disciples,
those who repented and believed in Jesus
were still called disciples:
Acts 6:7 NKJV
7 Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.
On another occasion, Luke, the author of Acts,
reported another increase in converts.
But this time instead of using the term ‘disciples’,
he used the word, ‘believers’:
Acts 5:14 NKJV
14 And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,
On yet another occasion,
Luke also records that the disciples
were called Christians:
Acts 11:26 NIV
26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.
From these 3 passages (Acts 6:7, 5:14 & 11:26),
it is rather clear that Luke treated these 3 terms:
‘disciples’, ‘believers’ and ‘Christians’
as synonymous.
They have not replaced one another
but they, if used in the context of the Body of Christ,
can be used in place of one another.
To say that the name ‘Christians’
is another way of addressing ‘disciples’,
which I have proven to be so,
is totally different from saying
that the name ‘disciples’
has now been replaced by ‘Christians’.
But this is what Prince has falsely asserted
when he told a blatant lie
that the term ‘disciples’
has now been replaced by ‘Christians’
by the Holy Spirit Himself.
This is plainly using, or more correctly,
misusing and abusing the name of God, the Holy Spirit.
In ‘Revolution in the Church, Challenging the Religious System
with a Call for Radical Change,’
Michael Brown wrote:
“Many of us are at home
with the concept of being Christians.
Yet, the word Christian occurs only three times
in the entire New Testament,
once in Acts 11 (at Antioch, where the disciples were first called Christians);
once in Acts 26 (where Agrippa asks Paul if he thinks he can persuade him to be a Christian in such a short time);
and once in 1 Peter 4 (where Peter tells the believers not to be ashamed of suffering reproach because they are called Christians).
… The Word of God never calls people
to “become Christians,”
especially as we commonly use the term.
And the goal of the Great Commission
is not to win people to a new religion,
which is what “becoming a Christian” means
to most people today.
Rather, it is a call to make disciples
– true disciples, obedient to the Lord.
As Jesus commanded,
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).
Has this Commission ever changed?
Has anyone overruled the Lord
and come up with a new and better plan?
… Who changed what Jesus commanded?
What else have we to do on earth
but become disciples and make disciples?
“Being a Christian” is not a New Testament emphasis,
nor does it communicate today
what it did in the days of the apostles.
… In America today, almost everyone believes in Jesus.
The issue for us is not so much
being a “Christian” or a “believer”
but rather being a “disciple”
– a term used more than 260 times
in the entire New Testament
(including more than 230 times in the gospels
and 28 times in Acts).
How can we downplay or ignore the call
to true discipleship
when it is such a prominent theme in the Word?
What does it tell us
when the word Christian occurs just three times
in the New Testament
and the term believer only 26 times,
but there are more than 260 references to disciples,
with clear explanations about what this means?
What does it tell us
when most of us would have no problem saying,
“I’m a Christian,” or, “I’m a believer,”
but would have a much harder time saying,
“I’m a disciple”?
Just saying the words out loud
causes us to examine ourselves afresh.
“Am I really a disciple?”
Otherwise, as Augustine once warned,
“If you believe what you like in the gospels,
and reject what you don’t like,
it is not the gospel you believe,
but yourself.”
George Ong’s comments:
Michael Brown’s passionate call
that we should call ourselves disciples
instead of Christians,
is diametrically opposed to that of Joseph Prince
– that we should call ourselves Christians
and not disciples,
as ‘disciples’ has been changed by the Holy Spirit
to ‘Christians’ (false teaching and blatant lie)
Michael Brown wrote:

Joseph Prince not only downplayed discipleship,

In the light of what Michael Brown wrote,
Joseph Prince, by his own authority,
has replaced the Great Commission ‘making disciples’ gospel
with his Grace Revolution of a just-believe
but without repentance and discipleship Gospel.
Can you beat that?
Michael Brown quoted Augustine, who once warned,
“If you believe what you like in the gospels,
and reject what you don’t like,
it is not the gospel you believe,
but yourself.”
George Ong’s comments:
This means Joseph Prince, who likes his only-believe gospel
but rejected what he didn’t like
– discipleship and repentance,
the 2 cornerstones in the true gospel,
is preaching the false gospel
that leads not to heaven but hell!
In ‘The New Testament, Spurgeon’s Sermons By Each Book,’
Charles Spurgeon said:
“And no doubt many, today, profess the name of Jesus
who are not aware what discipleship really involves.
… Sitting at the feet of Jesus indicates the child-like spirit
of true discipleship.
And this is the one thing needful
– there is no salvation apart from it.”
George Ong’s comments:
Charles Spurgeon made 2 crucial points:

This means Joseph Prince, who rejects discipleship

In ‘An Expositional Commentary on Acts,’
James Montgomery Boice wrote:
“One of the first marks of our conversion
is that we obey Jesus Christ.
… Jesus said,
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’
and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46).
If you are disobeying Jesus,
you are not his disciple.
If you are not His disciple,
you are not saved.”
George Ong’s comments:
Since James Montgomery Boice wrote:
“If you are not His disciple,
you are not saved,”
it is evident that Joseph Prince,
who teaches against discipleship,
is not saved to begin with.
This means that those in New Creation Church
who have been deceived by him
that they are no disciples in the New Covenant,
also do not possess true salvation.
In ‘An Expositional Commentary on Romans Volume 1-4.’
James Montgomery Boice wrote:
“Is discipleship
necessary for one to be a true Christian?
Can you be a saved person
without it?”
The answer I gave,
the answer that should be given
by any true Bible expositor, is,
“Yes, it is necessary!
It is mandatory to follow after Christ
to be a Christian.”
George Ong’s comments:
Since discipleship is necessary to be a true Christian,
no one, including Joseph Prince, who teaches against it,
can be saved without it.
In ‘An Expositional Commentary on Romans Volume 1-4.’
James Montgomery Boice wrote:
“… to become a Christian
is to become a disciple and vice versa.
In fact, that is the way Jesus himself spoke of evangelism
in the Great Commission,
since he sent his disciples
to “make disciples of all nations” (Matt. 28:19).
… But Jesus defined salvation as discipleship.
… As I have often said,
if we are not following after Jesus Christ
in faithful discipleship,
we are not disciples.
And if we are not disciples of Christ,
we are not Christians.”
George Ong’s comments:
Anyone who rejects discipleship
cannot claim to be Christians.
This is precisely what Joseph Prince does
– he claims to be a Christian
but rejects discipleship at the same time.
Finally, we have it on record
that Joseph Prince spoke against discipleship
– that discipleship is no longer in existence.
Do you know how serious it is when Joseph Prince
said that discipleship is no longer in existence?
Joseph Prince is publicly
and openly disobeying and rebelling
against the Great Commission of Christ
to make disciples:
Matthew 28:19 NIV
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Note that when Joseph Prince speaks against discipleship,
he is speaking against the core teaching of Jesus
in the gospels.
No preacher, would dare to teach
that discipleship had ended in the New Covenant.
But Joseph Prince did.
No true preacher of God
throughout the centuries of Christianity
would dare to speak against discipleship,
which is the core teaching of Jesus.
But Joseph Prince did.
That being so,
how can Joseph Prince not be a heretic?
Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote:
“Christianity without discipleship
is always Christianity without Christ.”
Joseph Prince,
by preaching a Christianity without discipleship
is preaching a Christianity without Christ.
How can any Singapore Pastor
keep nonchalantly silent about one ‘Pastor’ in her ‘fellowship’
who is a heretic
and preaching a Christianity without Christ?
Now, let Rev Edmund Chan challenge us once again
on the need for New Testament Discipleship.
In a teaching session, Rev Edmund Chan said;
to view the 1-minute-30-second video:
“We say the world is in trouble, the Church is in need.
It’s the reverse.
The world is in need and the Church is in trouble.
The Church needs to get back to this core,
this understanding,
this radicalness of discipleship,
this key to make a difference in our world.
The key to world evangelisation
is radical New Testament discipleship.
The time is now for the Church of Jesus Christ to arise
and understand New Testament discipleship;
the following of Jesus
is the key to change our world.
We have in our hands the gospel of Jesus Christ
that will change our world
and the key is a radical New Testament discipleship
to the King of kings,
and to once again to hear His call
reverberating through corridors of time,
calling the Church to arise with these words,
‘Follow me, I will make you fishers of men.’
The key to world evangelisation
is following Jesus with everything we’ve got.
There is a need for the Church to come back
to ask a fundamental question.
And the question is not
how many people are attending our Church?
That’s not the question.
The question is what kind, what kind of disciples
are we producing?
What kind of disciples is the Church raising up?”
Have you noticed
that the agendas of Rev Edmund Chan and Joseph Prince
are worlds apart.
One, such as Rev Edmund Chan
calls us once again to radical discipleship
as this is the key to world evangelisation,
whereas, the other, Joseph Prince,
deceives us that we are no longer to call ourselves as disciples
because the Holy Spirit
has changed and renamed ‘disciples’ to ‘Christians’.
In conclusion,
Joseph Prince, indeed, by his own words
and doctrines which are unbiblical, such as discipleship,
have confirmed that he is under the angel of light (Satan),
and the influence of the demonic
and a scammer.

I have been praying for my dad for 50 years.
I became a Christian in 1974.
50 years, I have been praying because God says,

especially his last lap, at the nick of time,
he’s still have not prayed the sinner’s prayer
and he’s like a lost sheep.
And I just prayed,
“Lord Jesus, You are the Shepherd.
Please find the lost sheep.
Save him! Save him!”
And really thank God, he’s found!
And thank God that he has eternal life.
And thank God, his name,
Tan Hoe Yong is in the Book of Life.
That’s more important.
Because once you stopped breathing;
once your heart stopped breathing,
it’s the end.
It’s eternal life or eternal hell?
And before he says to Jesus,
before he was baptised,
the most important is he himself say yes to Jesus.
And so, God has been very, very amazing.
God has been perfect.
In His perfect way, He works all things beautiful.
And on 6th of October 2024,
he prayed the sinner’s prayer and he accepted Jesus.
And on the 7th, is my birthday.
And I thank him (my father).
I said, “Papa, Xie Xie Ne
(Thank you dad),
Ne Xing Yeh Su
(You believe in Jesus),
Chiu How Te Li Ooh Si Kei Wo
(You’ve given me my best birthday gift).
Wo Liu Su Liu Sui
(I am 66-years-old).
Wo Chen Te Heng Kang Xie Chu
(I sincerely thank the Lord).
Xie Xie Ne Chieh Sou Yeh Su
(Thank you for accepting Jesus Christ).
So, God has given me the best wish of my birthday gift
– that he accepted Christ.
And now, actually when I look at him, I just smile
because he has the peace, he has eternal life.
His name Tan Hoe Yong is in the Book of Life.
And that is more important than anything else.
So, in God’s time, it is beautiful.
