Joseph Prince also said
that when we pray against the sins in our lives
or act against them,
we are making God’s word a lie.
He said:
“Why fight an enemy that doesn’t exist?
It’s dead.
It’s dead already.
So, God is saying count it as a fact
that you are dead to sin.
If it is dead (you died to sin)
you will not try to pray against it.
Why?
The very act of praying against it
or doing anything against it
is to say God’s word is a lie;
this is the truth.”
Joseph Prince is clearly making God a liar
and that His word contained lies.
First, the passage in Romans 6:5-11 did say
that we are dead to sin.
But from Romans 6:12 and following,
we are commanded to fight them
as they are not dead
but are still very much alive,
from the point of sanctification.
It is a half-truth
that Joseph Prince constantly and unrepentantly
uses to deceive people.
To me, a half-truth is worse than a lie
because of the insidious plot
to deceive without being detected.

In the sermon preached yesterday on 4 August 2024,
Joseph Prince said;

“And what’s the answer (for overcoming sin)?
The Bible says he who has died has been freed from sin.
And the truth about overcoming sin
is found in the word of God.
The Bible says you are already dead.
But you know it’s not in your experience.
You know now, it’s not in your feelings.
Then, where is it?
We know it’s established 2,000 years ago
when Christ died, I died with Him.
8 Now if we died with Christ,
we believe that we shall also live with Him,
9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead,
dies no more.
Death no longer has dominion over Him.
Now watch this. This is important.
10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all;
but the life that He lives, He lives to God.
11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves
to be dead indeed to sin…
Likewise, means in the same manner.
How did Christ die to sin?
Once and for all, or gradually?
Once and for all.
Likewise, how are you to die to sin?
Once and for all.
Because it’s the same manner, understand, same manner,
“but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Now look at the next verse.
Next verse must not be tied away.
Therefore (V12), based on verse 11,
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body,
that you should obey it in its lusts.
Whether that lust is a lust to hold grudge in your heart,
unforgiveness in your heart,
or is a lust that manifests itself
in pornography or fornication
or lust of the flesh or just outburst of anger,
God says the way that you don’t obey
that actually is a result of,
is actually an effect,
not an action that you do
because of verse 11.
Because of verse 11 therefore do not let sin reign;
that means what?
You are able to not let sin reign.
People always don’t read the context.
They just want to take the verse out of context.
Therefore, do not let sin reign.
You know, they don’t see the context.
Now let’s go back to the context again, verse 10.
So verse 10 says,
10 For the death that He died, He died to sin…
How often?
How often did He die to sin
the life that He lives, He lives to God?
In the same way, you must think of yourself, I’m dead
indeed.
Indeed, means what?
Like Jesus, once and for all to sin.
Now stop saying, Pastor only just now,
I had this anger arising up.
Just now I had this lust in my mind.
Just now only,
I had bad thoughts towards another sister another brother.
Stop that.
I know you experienced in your experience.
I know you experienced it in your feelings.
But God’s established fact is that you are dead to sin.
Likewise, reckon yourselves, this lust comes up,
I just listen
I’m not going to use my willpower
to suppress it.
Why fight an enemy that doesn’t exist?
It’s dead.
It’s dead already.
So, God is saying count it
as a fact that you are dead to sin.
If it’s dead (you died to sin)
you will not try to pray against it. Why?
The very act of praying against it
or doing anything against it
is to say God’s word is a lie, this is the truth.
That’s why you fall.
That’s why you don’t have victory.
That’s why we teach people,
many of them have found victory when we teach them
to confess ‘I am the righteousness of God in Christ’
in the midst of their sin.
Why because it brings them out of that lie.
But Pastor it is so real.
How can you say it is a lie.
It’s a lie because it is not based on the truth.”
At the outset, let me state
that the main argument of Joseph Prince
in this video and his sermon yesterday on 4 August 2024
is that we can overcome sin
just by believing that we have been freed from sin
in verse 7 of Romans 6,
and that we are already dead to sin in verse 11:
Romans 6:5-14 NKJV
5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,
6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.
8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him.
10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.
11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
Joseph Prince explains that when we sin,
regardless of our experiences and feelings,
we are to reckon
we are dead to sin in verse 11 of Romans 6
because we have died to sin
and we have been freed from sin in verse 7.
Up till now, I believe Joseph Prince is generally right
– half-right.
But from verse 12 of Romans 6 onwards,
the Apostle Paul switches to sanctification per se and action.
The argument is that
because we have died to sin and dead to it,
we must now act this out in our sanctification and action.
In other words, according to Paul,
the cause is verses 7 and 11,
and the effect is verse 12 (and onwards)
which is our sanctification and action.
But Joseph Prince did something absolutely deceptive and illogical.
He argues in a twisted manner
that though verse 12 is the effect of verses 7 and 11,
it is not an action that we do.
In other words,
when Paul has already moved on
to sanctification and action in verse 12,
Joseph Prince deceptively explains that verse 12
is still part of verses 7 and 11
– hence no action is required.
Joseph Prince’s argument
is that we can overcome sin
just by claiming in verses 7 and 11,
and he deceptively lumps verse 12,
which is supposed to be a sanctification verse
as part of them.
Joseph Prince has postured a half-truth
because he has obliterated
the part played by sanctification
in verse 12 and onwards.
He claims that he is doing in context
when the truth is he is out of context.
Joseph Prince has to explain Romans 6:7-12
in this convoluted manner
because of his ‘justification only
and a no-sanctification’ gospel.
This becomes clear
as I unveil the exposition of Martyn Lloyd-Jones
on Romans 6:5-12, especially from verse 12 onwards.
In ‘Exposition of Romans Chapter 6, The New Man,’
Martyn Lloyd-Jones said:
“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. (Romans 6:12-14)
With this twelfth verse we come,
in a sense, to a new section,
at any rate to a new sub-section of the argument
which the Apostle unfolds in this sixth chapter.
It brings us to the application in a practical manner
of the argument the Apostle has been working out
in the first eleven verses.
… The word ‘therefore’ (in verse 12),
introduces us to the New Testament doctrine
of holiness and of sanctification.
This is obviously a crucial matter.
… What is the first principle
in the New Testament doctrine of sanctification?
It is, obviously, that this doctrine
is something that you and I have to put into practice.
An exhortation is addressed to us:
Do not allow sin to ‘reign in your mortal body’.
… The New Testament teaching about sanctification
is not just an appeal to us to ‘look to the Lord’,
or as it is sometimes put,
‘Allow Him to live His life in you’.
We are told,
‘Your trouble is due to the fact
that you are struggling and fighting against sin;
and, of course, you are defeated.
That is where you go wrong.
You have nothing to do but to surrender yourself,
and to look to the Lord
and to allow Him to live His life in you.’
… Has not that been the teaching…
All I ask is this
– How do you reconcile that teaching with this,
‘Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body’?
That is an exhortation addressed to us, an admonition,
a call to a positive activity of the will.
… But here we are given these practical exhortations;
and we shall find the Apostle putting them in actual detail,
as he does in other Epistles.
He tells the Ephesians not to steal anymore,
and not to use foolish talking and jesting,
not to lie to one another.
He is urging them not to do such things.
Yet this other teaching (Joseph Prince’s type)
dismisses all that,
and says that we have nothing to do
but to be ‘willing to be made willing’,
and to allow the Lord to live His life in us,
and all will be well.
But the exhortation in this verse is addressed to us,
and obviously must be because of the doctrine
which Paul has been elaborating in the first eleven verses.
… Turn to Philippians Chapter 2 verses 12 and 13:
‘Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for (because) it is God that worketh in you both to will and to do.’
Of course, it is God’s work,
but this is God’s way of doing it.
He does not accomplish it by telling us to do nothing
and just to ‘look to the Lord’ or to ‘let go and let God’.
God tells us to do it in the way
taught in this twelfth verse (Romans chapter 6).
This is the New Testament method of sanctification.
… ‘Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body.’
… It does not just say to me, ‘let go and let God’,
or ‘do nothing but allow Him to live His life in you’.
Reason it out, it says, work it out.
‘Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body.’
… There, then, we have the introduction, as it were,
to the New Testament doctrine of sanctification,
introduced by this important and vital word ‘Therefore’.
In the light of the glorious doctrine of verses 1 to 11 (Rom 6),
‘Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body,
that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof’ (V12).
… so I emphasize and repeat this point.
The New Testament calls upon us to take action;
it does not tell us that the work of sanctification
is going to be done for us.
And it tells us and commands us to do so for this reason,
that we have been given the ability to do it.
If we had not been given the ability,
if we had not received the new nature
as the result of the new birth,
if we had not been given the new life,
if the Spirit was not in us,
then, of course, we should need someone to do it for us.
But as we have been given the power
and the ability and the capacity,
the New Testament quite logically,
and in perfect consistency with itself,
calls upon us to do it.
‘Do not let sin reign in your mortal body’ (V12) it says.
‘Do not present your members
as instruments unto sin or unrighteousness (V13).’
Do not do it!
This is something that you and I have to do;
it is not going to be done for us.
We are in the good ‘fight of faith’,
and we have to do the fighting.
But, thank God, we are enabled to do it;
for the moment we believe, and are justified by faith,
and are born again of the Spirit of God,
we have the ability.
So, the New Testament method of sanctification
is to remind us of that; and having reminded us of it,
it says,
‘Now then, go and do it’.
… The New Testament way
of handling holiness and sanctification
is always a command;
it is never an appeal;
it is a command.
That is a most important point.
As it is a command,
it is obviously something that we have to do;
and therefore, it is something that we can do.”
George Ong’ comments:
Martyn Lloyd-Jones has given us the correct teaching
about what holiness or sanctification is all about.
It is about responding to the call and command of God
to do something about our sins
because He has given us the ability to do so.
So, I hope by now you would realise
that Joseph Prince’s teaching of holiness or sanctification;
that it is merely about sitting down
and resting in the finished work of Christ,
and that holiness is only an accident that requires no effort,
is utterly false.
While Martyn Lloyd Jones said we must act
and even fight against sins that are in our mortal body
as part of sanctification,
Joseph Prince asserts that we shouldn’t fight them
as they are already dead.
Prince also said that when we pray against the sins in our lives

The scriptures and the Reformation Fathers
teach a salvation doctrine
that must comprise both justification and sanctification.
But Joseph Prince teaches the heresy
of a justification-only salvation.
All of us know that basically
there are 3 essential parts comprising salvation.
First justification, second sanctification, third glorification.
Glorification, as you know
is the consummation of our salvation
when we are resurrected.
Justification is nobody can save himself.
That makes Christianity very special.
There are many other religions,
you must earn your salvation.
Christianity says you must depend on
the righteousness of God in Christ at the cross
when He died on the cross for our sins.
But there is also another function, called sanctification.
Justification, everything is done by God.
But sanctification is more Holy Spirit and us
cooperating to conserve our salvation.
But I will prove to you, actually, actually,
a lot of passages is about us.
See whether I’m right.
Many passages is about us.
We must do.
We must do, if not.
Of course, we need the help of the Holy Spirit, right,
even though it’s our responsibility.”
In a teaching session, George Ong said;
to view the 40-second video:
“You know one of the things he (Joseph Prince) teaches
is Effortless Christianity. Effortless.
You know why he teaches Effortless Christianity
because his concept of salvation is just justification.
Christ has done already for you.
What you want to do?
Clever, ah, Ha.
You want to do, ah.
You want to earn salvation.
No, no, no.
That’s why his thinking is justification-only.
But he’s wrong.
He’s (it’s) half gospel.
Full gospel is both justification and sanctification.
That’s why he teaches that everything
is done, done, done for you.
No need to do, do, do.
But I will say you better do, do, do also.
Yes, everything is done, done for us, justification,
so that we must do, do, do for Him, sanctification.”
In a teaching session, George Ong said;
“The main error of Joseph Prince is that
he teaches a ‘Gospel minus Sanctification’ doctrine,
which is heresy.
You know, every Sunday after Sunday,
he keeps pounding on the justification.
You must have the righteousness of God in Christ.
You must have the righteousness of God in Christ, every Sunday
because he doesn’t believe in sanctification
as a component for salvation.
Not only that, he preaches against it.
All these are facts, you know.
When you try to be holy, you think what.
Christ done done done for you, don’t do, that’s works.
You try to obey commandments,
you think what, that’s self-preoccupied.
You must focus on Christ’s righteousness.
Half-truth, you see.
That’s why it’s very believable.
It’s as if he’s so Christ-centred.
Focus on Christ, don’t focus on you.
But that’s not what the Bible teaches.
What did it say?
Make every effort to be holy.
You better make every effort to be holy.
Without holiness, no one will see the Lord.”
In a teaching session, George Ong said;
“You see, he will say, ‘I’m not against,’
you see, play this kind of tricks.
‘I’m not against sanctification, who say,
I’m not against sanctification.’
But if you’re not against sanctification,
preach it, brother.
He doesn’t preach it.
Means he’s against it.
Do you know I asked a 20 year,
attend the NCC for 20 years.
This guy told me he never hear any sermon
on sanctification throughout his 20 years.
So, must ring a bell.
He’s preaching half-gospel.
“Joseph Prince’s grace doctrine
of a ‘Gospel minus Sanctification’
is as grave and false
as the Galatian error
of a Gospel plus circumcision.”
In a teaching session, George Ong said;
“Charles Spurgeon said:
“Justification without sanctification
would not be salvation at all.”
Meaning to say, very clear,
Joseph Prince’s justification-only salvation doctrine
is half gospel.
Half gospel is a false gospel.”
George Ong’s comments:
The Reformation and Church Fathers
also teach about the necessity of sanctification for salvation.
Martin Luther championed justification by faith
as passionately as any Reformer.
But did he believe
that sanctification is unnecessary for salvation
as Joseph Prince does?
Absolutely not!
Martin Luther wrote:
“There is no justification without sanctification…”
In other words, Luther believed that sanctification
is just as indispensable as justification for salvation.
What Luther teaches goes against the teachings of Joseph Prince,
who embraces justification
but denigrates sanctification in his salvation doctrine.
John Calvin wrote:
“Christ justifies no one
whom he does not at the same time sanctify.”
Like Luther, John Calvin too believes
that both justification and sanctification
are required for salvation
– contradicting the grace doctrine of Joseph Prince
that only justification by faith
or the imputed righteousness of Christ is all that is needed.
Martyn Lloyd-Jones said:
“There are people today
who seem to teach and to believe
… you can take justification
without taking sanctification.
They say you can get forgiveness of sins
without holiness.
It is a lie.
… The central object of salvation is holiness.
I would not hesitate to assert
that it is sinful to say
that you can stop at justification even temporarily,
or say that a man can be justified and not sanctified.
It is impossible.”
Matthew Henry wrote:
“None can know their election
but by their conformity to Christ;
for all who are chosen
are chosen to sanctification.”
FF Bruce wrote:
“If a man is not being sanctified,
there is no reason to believe
that he has been justified.”
JC Ryle said:
“Tell me not of your justification,
unless you have also some marks of sanctification.”
AA Hodge said:
“You cannot take Christ for justification
unless you take Him for sanctification.”
As Martin Luther, John Calvin, Martyn Lloyd-Jones,
Matthew Henry, FF Bruce, JC Ryle, AA Hodge had stated,
the Biblical Gospel is a salvation
that must comprise both justification and sanctification.
But in the Joseph Prince’s Gospel,
salvation is equated to just justification,
and sanctification is not only not taught,
but also spoken against.
Let me repeat what Charles Spurgeon said:
“Justification without sanctification
would not be salvation at all.”
What Charles Spurgeon said,
which is totally scriptural,
is a very solemn truth
in the light of the teachings of Joseph Prince.
This simply means
that Joseph Prince’s ‘justification only’ salvation doctrine
does not equal to saving faith, and does not save,
as the other vital half, which is sanctification,
is not taken into account.
Hence, Joseph Prince has been deceiving the millions
into thinking that just because they are ‘justified,’
they are saved
– when the truth is, they aren’t.
Joseph Prince has been deceiving the multitudes
by giving them the impression
that they are on their way to heaven,
when the truth is,
they may be headed for hell.
Finally, Joseph Prince said:
“That’s why we teach people,
many of them have found victory when we teach them
to confess ‘I am the righteousness of God in Christ,’
in the midst of their sin.”
Joseph Prince teaches that when we sin,
we are not to confess our sins
because every sin has been forgiven at the cross,
but we are to confess we are righteous.
There is nowhere in the Bible that tells a believer
to confess his righteousness
when he is sinning instead of his sins
except for the weird and false doctrine
that Joseph Prince teaches.
Besides, no known Church Father or true Evangelical Pastor
throughout the centuries of the Christian Church
has ever taught this sickening doctrine
that Joseph Prince shamelessly espouses.
Since it is not based on the word of God,
or taught by any Church Father and Evangelical Pastor,
any so-called victory claimed by Joseph Prince
is a hollow achievement and a counterfeit.
What is worse is that the victory
could be satanically-initiated and satanically-driven.

and viciously violating a woman (Judg. 19-21).
Those who are deceived
had better be quickened to the danger of toxic grace.”

that has caused many to fall back under the law.

A proud man wouldn’t admit
he has twisted The Word of God

Joseph Prince is walking by sight (according to his flesh).
Therefore, he too has fallen back under the law.
I fear God might have given to Joseph Prince
like what He gave to King Ahab’s priests
by putting a lying spirit in them
to speak what he wants to hear.
God gave a lying spirit to Israel’s priests
because they rebelled against God’s commands (1 Kings 22).”

according to Paul’s writing in the Book of Romans.
Probably you need to search the Bible
for the Holy Spirit’s revelation.
Don’t follow and agree to the scriptures
according to Joseph Prince’s interpretations.

They are synonymous.
Keeping the law also means act in accordance with the law,
adhere to the law, or comply with the law.
I think you have been confused by Joseph Prince.
When he says that there is no more law
or NO MORE NEED TO KEEP ANY LAW,
he is telling you that
there is NO MORE NEED TO OBEY ANY LAW,
do and teach any law, or comply with any law too.
So, if you still want to obey the law,
do and teach the law,
or be law-conscious,
he would tell you to go to other churches.”

That’s why we were told to confess our sins

Why can’t you just decide what’s right
instead of presenting baseless arguments?
Do you mean whenever you see a need to correct others,

None of us are perfect here,

our Salvation with fear and trembling

The self-righteous are the ones
