Evasion
Roger Lee’s first book was called: ‘How To Avoid Taxation’. He is now writing his second book, entitled: ‘My Life In Prison’.
A couple of tax accountants were trying to visit the grave of a former co-worker who had recently died, but they couldn’t find it anywhere in the cemetery.
One finally said to the other, “Do you think he put it in his wife’s name?”
I’m always worried about our marriage around tax time: My wife always lists our relationship for a depreciation allowance.
Tax avoidance is a legitimate strategy of reducing one’s taxes whereas tax evasion will get one into serious trouble.
Objectivity
“You know,” said the woman whose car had run down a man, “you must have been walking very carelessly. I am a very careful and experienced driver. I have been driving a car for 10 years.”
“Lady, that’s nothing. I have been walking for 50 years.”
The subjective arguments of drivers to push blame would have to be arbitrated by an objective police investigation and the impartial court.
Treatment
Every morning for 11 years a man awakened at six and took his dog for a walk. Suddenly, the dog died.
The next morning, the fellow woke up at the same time, stared at the ceiling for a moment, then nudged his wife.
“Hey,” he said, “you wanna take a walk?”
Though our wives are not dogs they should be treated as one; to be hugged and kissed playfully, and be cherished as a friend.
Wait
Two fishermen were fishing in a river but it wasn’t their day as they caught nothing even after fishing for four hours.
First Fisherman: Is this a good river to fish?
Second Fisherman: Yes. It’s so good that none of them were willing to leave it.
The novice must be taught to accept that the long waiting for the fish is part of the discipline and rigours of fishing.
