Part 1: Joseph Prince teaches if we follow Jesus, gold will follow us

 

In the sermon on 25 May 2025, Joseph Prince said:

“Don’t misunderstand me.

 

The devil didn’t put gold in this earth.

 

God put gold in this earth.

 

Why? Who is it for?

 

When you build your house,

 

who do you build it for?

 

For your neighbour, right?

 

For their kids, right?

 

Of course not.

 

It’s for your own.

 

Think of that.

 

Then how come I don’t have my portion of gold?

 

Because your mind is on gold, gold, gold.

 

Put your mind on Jesus.

 

Because you know something,

 

gold follows Him.

 

Even from the time He was born,

 

gold went a far journey to find Him.

 

Gold and frankincense, the most expensive myrrh

 

at that time, went to find Him.

 

Follow Jesus and gold will follow you. Okay.

 

There he goes again, preaching prosperity.

 

Whatever Lah.” 

 

Did the Apostles ever say as Joseph Prince has said,

 

“Follow Jesus and gold will follow you.”

 

Of course not!

 

Yes, they followed Jesus,

 

but not only they didn’t have gold,

 

they had to leave their families, their occupation

 

and their everything behind

 

to follow Jesus:

 

Jesus called them, ²² and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him. (Matt 4:21-22)

 

¹¹ So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him. (Luke 5:11)

 

Did Apostle Peter say as Joseph Prince has said,

 

“Follow Jesus and gold will follow you.”

 

No way!

 

What did Peter say:

 

⁶ Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” (Acts 3:6)

 

While Joseph Prince teaches

 

that believers can have gold if they follow Jesus,

 

Peter declared he doesn’t even have a single ounce of it.

 

Did Peter follow Jesus?

 

O yes, Peter followed Jesus till his dying days

 

when he was martyred for God’s glory.

 

Not only Peter didn’t have gold,

 

but he lost his life in following Jesus:

 

¹⁸ Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” ¹⁹ Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then he said to him, “Follow me!” (Jn 21:18-19)

 

Did Apostle Paul say as Joseph Prince has said,

 

“Follow Jesus and gold will follow you.”

 

Far from it!

 

What did Paul say:

 

³³ I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing. ³⁴ You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. (Acts 20:33)

 

Paul contradicted Joseph Prince

 

when he said he didn’t covet gold,

 

and he seemed to imply strongly

 

that as long as his needs are supplied,

 

he is content;

 

as opposed to Joseph Prince who taught

 

that gold will follow you as you follow Jesus.

 

If there is anyone who has followed Jesus

 

as intensely and devotedly,

 

it must have been Paul. 

 

Yet, did Paul teach the rubbish

 

that Joseph Prince teaches

 

that gold will follow believers as they follow Jesus?

 

Nothing of that sort!

 

Joseph Prince has time and again revealed himself as a liar

 

when he keeps saying that Paul was his mentor

 

because he follows the teachings of Paul

 

Did Jesus say as Joseph Prince has said,

 

“Follow Jesus and gold will follow you.”

 

You can dream on!

 

What did Jesus say?

 

⁵⁷ As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” ⁵⁸ Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” ⁵⁹ He said to another man, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” ⁶⁰ Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” ⁶¹ Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.” ⁶² Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.” (Lk 9:57-62)

 

Jesus didn’t promise gold to those who followed Him at all,

 

but He reminded anyone who wants to follow Him,

 

he must be willing to pay a high price for it.

 

Next, let’s look at Psalm 119:72 NIV

 

⁷² The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.

 

David had much more gold than many of us combined.

 

Yet, when he compares them

 

with the preciousness of God’s law,

 

they pale in comparison.

 

On the contrary,

 

Joseph Prince follows Jesus

 

only because he can get gold out of Jesus

 

as he said:

 

“Follow Jesus and gold will follow you.”

 

And what did he do with the preciousness of God’s law

 

that David prizes so highly?

 

He chucked them away into the dustbin of history

 

by teaching they are no longer applicable

 

to New Covenant believers.

 

If Joseph Prince teaches a prosperity doctrine

 

that is so far removed

 

from King David, Apostle Paul, Apostle Peter

 

and the Lord Jesus Himself,

 

how can he not be a heretic?

 

Furthermore, it is a fact that there are millions and millions

 

of third-world believers who are poor and are following Jesus,

 

and if that is so, why are they not blessed with gold?

 

And if Joseph Prince seriously believes

 

in his Prosperity Gospel Doctrine,

 

“Follow Jesus and gold will follow you,”

 

why is he not preaching this promise

 

to believers in the Third World nations?

 

Why has Joseph Prince never or hardly gone

 

to the third world nations himself

 

to preach the gospel to the poor

 

so that they can have loads and loads of gold

 

in their possession.

 

(so much for leadership by example)

 

And why did Lawrence Lim who keeps boasting

 

that he has gone to minister to third world nations many times,

 

not once preached this message of Joseph Prince,

 

“Follow Jesus and gold will follow you.”

 

If Lawrence Lim has indeed preached

 

Joseph Prince’s Prosperity message

 

to these poor believers,

 

“Follow Jesus and gold will follow you,”

 

then show us the results.

 

Finally, though Jesus preaches the true gospel

 

and promises us eternal life,

 

He never in the entire scriptures ever promised us gold:

 

John 10:27-28a NIV

27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish…

 

Jesus promises that those who follow Him

 

will have eternal life and they will not perish.

 

But He never promises us the gold that Joseph Prince teaches.

 

In fact, Jesus places a demand

 

on those who wants to follow Him,

 

that they may have to give up their gold:

 

Mark 10:21 NIV 

²¹ Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

 

Jesus clearly commands

 

that before the rich man can follow Him

 

and have treasure in heaven,

 

he would have to sell everything (including his gold).

 

Just think of the vast gulf of difference

 

between what was taught by the Lord Jesus

 

and what was taught by Joseph Prince.

 

Joseph Prince teaches that you will have gold

 

if you follow Jesus.

 

Jesus, on the other hand,

 

not only did He not promise us gold,

 

but He also demands that you may have to give up your gold

 

if you follow Him.

 

The difference between

 

the teachings of the Lord Jesus and Joseph Prince

 

is not just between black and white

 

but also between heaven and hell.

 

If this doesn’t convince you that Joseph Prince is a heretic,

 

who preaches a gospel that is so different from the Lord Jesus,

 

nothing, not even the angels in heaven, would.

“Bringing the gospel of grace from Dallas to the world.”

 

This is another evil agenda of Joseph Prince

 

to spread his Pseudo-grace gospel to the world

 

through a church (building) in Dallas, America

 

that he is about to set up.

 

And Joseph Prince is appealing for money again

 

for this building project.

 

Joseph Prince knew that this would be met

 

with opposition and criticisms,

 

and knowing that since New Creation Church

 

has plenty of reserves,

 

people would question him why is he raising funds again.

 

This is why Joseph Prince

 

has to come up with this crafty and “Kiasu” statement

 

in this link:

 

“While we have some reserves that could potentially be used to support this project, we are hopeful and full of faith that, with the Lord’s provision and your generous, Spirit-led support, we can raise the necessary funds without tapping into any reserves.”

 

I won’t be surprised in his raising of funds,

 

and to entice people to give,

 

Joseph Prince may resort to this tagline:

 

“Give to Jesus through this Dallas Building Fund and gold will follow you.”

 

“Follow Jesus and gold will follow you.”

 

It is about time that we pray against

 

this wicked plot from the devil

 

to spread the false gospel

 

through Joseph Prince’s church in Dallas, America

 

that is about to be set up.  

 

What’s more, is that this Building Fund Project in Dallas

 

is again another episode

 

of the severe lack of transparency and accountability

 

between Joseph Prince Ministries (JPM) and New Creation Church.

 

What’s significant is that this Dallas Building Project,

 

which was announced as a Joseph Prince Ministry (JPM),

 

and people are asked to give under this JPM Building Fund

 

in this link,

was announced recently at a worship service

 

at New Creation Church

 

by Darren Sim,

 

a Pastoral staff member of New Creation Church.    

 

Darren Sim is the point man to head this Dallas Project.

 

So, Joseph Prince,

 

may I know whose project is this?

 

Is this Joseph Prince’s project or New Creation Church’s project?

 

Is Darren Sim employed by Joseph Prince or New Creation Church?

 

If this is a project by New Creation Church,

 

why is this project termed as Joseph Prince Ministry (JPM),

 

and why is Joseph Prince asking people to give money

 

under this Joseph Prince Ministry (JPM) Building Fund?

 

But Joseph Prince, if this is your own ministry (JPM),

 

why are you using church (New Creation Church) resources

 

and church (New Creation Church) staff (Darren Sim)

 

to promote your own ministry (JPM)?

 

Can you see how such lines of transparency and accountability

 

are blurred between Joseph Prince himself,

 

Joseph Prince Ministries (JPM)

 

and New Creation Church.  

 

Let me quote Dr Chris Kang,

 

an Ex New Creation Church member,

 

who wrote:

 

“Opaque financial accountability and lack of transparency to rank and file congregants fail to inspire trust and confidence in the stewardship, integrity, and priorities of the church leadership.

 

Blurring of lines between Joseph Prince Ministries, New Creation Church, and Joseph Prince himself in a way that obfuscates the financial accountability and transparency of their opaque interrelationships.

 

As an illustration, it is like an academic running his own company, using the facilities and resources of the university that appoints him (albeit in honorary capacity), to drive business to his company with no proper lines of financial reporting and accountability made clear to fee-paying students and sponsors of that university.

 

… I see little if any transparency in financial details of Joseph Prince’s church. 

 

Overt sales pitches of Joseph Prince’s cornucopia of products during church services and perceived conflict of interests seem happily swept aside by either nonchalance or something else.

 

A ready market for flogging of goods; church facilities and resources used for recording sermons and production of goods with no apparent clear accounting; 

 

no access to transparent accounting of how and where money from tithing congregants is being spent including honoraria for Joseph Prince and pastoral staff bonuses and salaries; 

 

no information about AGMs or audited accounts seemingly available – these personal observations do not inspire trust.

 

Perhaps such information is privy to only a few or a smaller group of real members, but all these signs paint a less than trustworthy image and raises doubts on matters of integrity.

 

For me, it erodes confidence in how the church is run and where its true priorities lie. Money given voluntarily by congregants to the church does not obviate the need for clear financial accountability and transparency to the congregation. If anything, there is an even greater moral obligation to do so.”

Ps Dr Albert Chia from Sabah, Malaysia

 

was born in 1942, and is currently 83 years old.

 

Yet, he is energetic and passionate about serving God.

 

He is gifted in healing and has a biblical understanding of it,

 

and is here to expose the false healing teachings

 

of Joseph Prince.
