Joseph Prince applies pressure & uses greed to entice his people to tithe

If you ask the question,
my answer is no.”
But in another sermon, Joseph Prince said:

“It’s the principle of the tithe.
The first portion belongs to the Lord. Amen.
Come on, people.
We all need the blessing of God in our life, okay?
It’s the principle of the tithe.
She gave that portion to the Lord first. How?
By giving to her, to the servant of God, okay.
Because in that day and age,
if you want to go to church, there wasn’t a church.
And the man of God that represented God at that time
was Elijah.
So it’s like there was no temple,
there wasn’t desecrated yet. Alright.
But then the presence of God was not there with that king.
Amen? Not the king of Israel for sure.
And the presence of God was with the prophet Elijah.
Are you listening?
You tithe where the presence of God is.
And you know it’s there.
If you do not know it’s there,
go somewhere else and tithe.
But tithing is God’s principle.”
One moment, Joseph Prince
said that you don’t have to tithe.
The next moment, Joseph Prince said:
“It’s the principle of the tithe.
The first portion belongs to the Lord. Amen.
… tithing is God’s principle.”
If Joseph Prince said that the first portion, the tithe
belongs to the Lord,
and tithing is God’s principle,
how can we not tithe?
If the tithe belongs to God and it is God’s principle,
we better tithe as if we don’t,
are we robbing God?
(Note that’s not my stand for New Covenant believers)
But that’s not all.
After Joseph Prince said
that the tithe belongs to God,
he now says there is no need to tithe
unless we have the revelation.
In a sermon, Joseph Prince said:

“Don’t tithe. Don’t.
Because not a revelation.
No use, if you tithe also no use.
It profits you nothing.
God wants you to have a revelation.”
Where in the Old Testament has tithing been related
as to whether one should have revelation or not?
Tithing is God’s command for His Old Covenant people, period.
There is also nothing in the New Testament
that giving has ever been related
as to whether one has revelation or not.
Hey Joe, what is in your mind when you talk about revelation?
Is it your goose-pimple bumps you feel
that tells you to do something?
Come on.
Don’t you know that we don’t need any more revelation
because it has already been revealed to us
– that tithing is compulsory in the Old Covenant
and giving is strongly encouraged in the New Covenant?
What is sacrilegious
is that Joseph Prince has put words into God’s mouth
when he said:
“God wants you to have a revelation.”
I can’t find anywhere in the Bible
where God says that He wants you to have a revelation to tithe;
and that if you don’t have the revelation,
you can be excused from it.
Friends, I want you to note
that in many of Joseph Prince’s sermons,
he has used and abused the word ‘revelation’ many times
to twist God’s word and impose his views on the scriptures.
And, unbelievably, Joseph Prince has contradicted himself again.
If Joseph Prince says that if you don’t have the revelation,
you can be excused from it because there is no point you giving,
why is he insisting,
as revealed by Andrew Tan and Janice Lee,
both Ex New Creation Church members,
that leaders and servers in New Creation Church must tithe;
and if they don’t, they cannot be leaders and servers.
Andrew Tan, a Ex New Creation Church member
for 20 years testified:
“Before leaders are appointed in New Creation Church,
they will have their tithing record checked
before being appointed.
They will have to show
that they are tithing regularly to the church.
Interestingly, Joseph Prince preaches grace and against law,
and yet, he institutes such rigid ‘law’
to check people’s tithing record
before they can be appointed to leadership.
As far as I know,
there is hardly any church that practices that.
In the Bible, stewardship is more than money.
It encompasses time, talent and other resources.
The biblical qualifications for church leadership
are found in Titus 1:5-9; 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and 1 Peter 5:1-4.
None of them mentions tithing.”
George Ong’s Comments:
So, is Joseph Prince a grace teacher or a law preacher?
Joseph Prince would have to make up his mind
as his legalistic action
is antithetical to his grace teachings.
Devising such legalistic means
of checking a person’s tithing record
is not only an invasion of a person’s privacy,
but also, a grave contradiction
to Joseph Prince’s image and credibility
as a grace teacher.
As a matter of fact,
I cannot find anywhere in the Bible
in which a person’s tithing record is scrutinised
before one can be appointed to leadership.
The bottom line is Joseph Prince is so obsessed
about whether people tithe to his church
that he will go to the extent
of invading into a person’s privacy
by checking his tithing record.
Money! Money! Money!
Janice Lee, an Ex New Creation Church member
for 10 years, testified:
“Why the giving of money to the church
is a criterion before one can qualify
to serve in New Creation Church.
I did apply to serve as an Usher at New Creation Church.
I presumed they did not contact me
because I didn’t tithe regularly for 6 months.
I gave to New Creation Church, but not regularly.
I wondered why money
would be a criterion to serve God.
Later, I found out from someone
who attends the church for a long time,
and she told me that giving 10 percent of my income
is a requirement of serving in the church.”
George Ong’s Comments:
How can Joseph Prince claim to be the super-grace teacher
when ‘he is so law’ in his approach
towards his members/leaders/servers
on money and tithing.
What Ex New Creation Church members,
such as Andrew Tan and Janice Lee have testified
are not rumour-mongering
as this is what Joseph Prince himself has instituted
– that anyone who wished to be appointed
as servers and leaders in New Creation Church
must show proof that they tithe.
This is because in another sermon,
Joseph Prince said:

“But we only check if there is someone
we are considering as a leader, then…
And these are great leaders
that pick out new leaders
and one of the areas they can tell
is to check the tithing.
We only check for leaders.
And don’t worry, we don’t check your tithe,
but only for leaders, amen,
because you don’t want a leader who is not tithing.
You don’t want a leader who is not faithful in that
which is least, amen, to be in charge over you.
We love you.”
Joseph Prince has again contradicted himself.
One moment, Joseph Prince said that
if you don’t have the revelation,
you are not required to tithe.
The next moment, Joseph Prince said,
“Hey people, I don’t care
whether you have the revelation or not,
but as long as you want to be the leaders and servers
of New Creation Church,
you jolly well tithe.”

“So in our church, whenever people ask,
do I have to tithe?
I say no, okay.
Because you look at the question.
Do I have to tithe?
No, you don’t have to.”
But in another sermon, Joseph Prince said:

Don’t touch it.
It belongs to the Lord, Amen, Amen.”
One moment, Joseph Prince said
you don’t have to tithe.
The next moment, Joseph Prince said that
we must not touch the tithe
as it belongs to the Lord.
But the worse of what Joseph Prince
said about tithing is yet to come.

“Some of you came to church, I still remember,
you had nothing.
A lot of the leadership things that you apply,
even in your business and all that, you learn here.
And then when things happen,
so all of sudden you stop tithing,
you stop attending church and all that,
and then you are wonder why you are struggling.
I’m not wondering at all.
Ya, you are wondering because you are now
in the wandering, wandering, wandering,
wandering in the wilderness.
I am not wondering at all. Amen.”
Joseph Prince is twisting the arm of his people to tithe
as he said it rather clearly
that the reason why they failed
in leadership and business
was because they have stopped tithing.
In another sermon, Joseph Prince said:

“And it’s amazing that many a times
when people’s even marriage breaks down,
or their business, you know, break down,
and all that,
you can almost trace it back to the time
they don’t tithe.
I was praying for one leader,
and I’ve been praying for this kind of thing
for this leaders, these type of leaders, many, many, years
down the through the years.
I’m telling you, like a composite whole, okay?
Usually I pray for a leader, I don’t ask, are you tithing,
I don’t. I assume they are.
So, he’s got financial problem.
I’m praying for him, I’m praying for him.
I bind, I loose, I spit. I do all kind of things, you know?
And I want him to have a breakthrough.
I love him, I want him to have a breakthrough.
Then his marriage breaks down.
Then a number of months passed by,
and I’m thinking to myself, what is happening?
I asked the Lord, there’s no answer.
Then finally, one day, that department came out
because to check things, and all that, and he’s a leader.
They say that he’s not been tithing.
I said, since when?
And they point out to the months ago.
I can point to the very month
he had problems in his marriage,
problems in his finances.
He just stopped (tithing).”
Joseph Prince is such an evil person
that he could even attribute
marriage problems and financial problems of his people
to the time when they stopped tithing.
In yet another sermon, Joseph Prince said:

“Okay so, all right, so this is an acid test, ladies,
before you choose a potential husband,
doesn’t have to be rich,
but is he faithful in the tithe?
In the tithe?
Is he faithful in the unrighteousness mammon?
Or else God himself not trust him the true riches,
and you are one of the true riches.”
What Joseph Prince had just uttered is unbeatable.
He advised ladies who is choosing a potential husband
to pick one who is faithful in tithing.
This practically rules out all New Covenant believers
who do not believe that tithing can be supported
from the New Testament scriptures but giving can.
Can you now see why Joseph Prince
– that he is not asking his people to tithe
is a lie.
Why?
This is because he also said those
who failed in business and marriage,
was because they have stopped tithing,
and his advice was for ladies in his church to choose a husband
who is faithful in tithing – Why?
The reason is simple
– he is applying pressure on his people to tithe.
The worst is yet to come.
Finally, Joseph Prince is using greed,
the nonsensical exegesis of scripture,
and the wrong and deceptive use of the Hebrew language
to entice his people to tithe.

The word tithes is the Hebrew word maaser,
maaser, okay,
maaser, with a mem.
If there’s no mem, the root word or the etymology is aser.
Aser is the word ten or the word rich.
Mmm, the rich is in the, the aser is in the maaser,
the rich is in the tithes.
And by the way, if you study the word rich,
I made Abraham rich, look it up, the Hebrew aser,
the aser in the maaser.
The word rich, same word, alright?
The mem just makes it a noun into a word like the tithe, okay?
The rich is in the tithe.”

in exposing the lies of Joseph Prince.
