Part 2: Joseph Prince’s shrewd way of tempting his members to give – that if they want to be multi-millionaires or billionaires, they ought to tithe

“And then the enemy is so afraid,
he makes it sound so noble.
Anyone preaching prosperity? Amen.
You see, the funny thing is that people
who preach the true prosperity
never take up so much offerings.
In our church, you know, you hardly have
except for the time for offering, Amen.
You don’t find me saying,
“Hey guys, you got to give me, you know.”
Like some of them do in America, Amen.”
George Ong’s Response:
Joseph Prince defended that his New Creation Church
hardly asks people to give their offerings.
Joseph Prince is not telling the whole truth.
This is because he has another cleverer way
of achieving the same objective.
Let me show you Joseph Prince’s shrewd way
of getting and even tempting his people to give.
In a sermon, Joseph Prince said:

“So, sometimes you wonder why?
God, no problem with you, what, just your little finger,
just, Tok, Wah, I become a multi-millionaire. Amen.
No problem for you.
Why, why do you let all these other billionaires,
and all that.
Why not me?
I’m a Christian, what, right?
You ever thought of that way?
You know why?
Because He loves you more.
He loves you more because He knows that
that right now, at this level, okay,
you don’t even tithe.”
George Ong’s Response:
Notice the slight but deliberate pause of Joseph Prince?
It is done to let his message sink in.
What message?
The message that if his people
want to be multi-millionaires or billionaires,
they must tithe.
And the reverse argument is that
because they didn’t tithe,
they cannot be multi-millionaires or billionaires.
In short, Joseph Prince is clearly sending his people
the message that the way to become
multi-millionaires or billionaires,
is to tithe.
Joseph Prince is clearly and directly linking
tithing to prosperity and wealth.
If this is not Prosperity Gospel at its worst,
I don’t know what is.
By his clever and shrewd way of getting
and even tempting his people to give,
so that they can become very rich,
Joseph Prince has revealed himself
to be a Prosperity Gospel preacher
and a false prophet.

George Ong’s Response:
Though Joseph Prince claimed
that he doesn’t ask people to give to him,
he has a more sophisticated way
of achieving the same objective.
Last year, Joseph Prince launched his Study Bible.

You must remember
Joseph Prince has a worldwide market.
If just 5,000 people subscribe to the Basic plan,

Just think of the humongous amounts of money
he is earning
from the preaching of his grace gospel.
The Apostle Paul, whom he claimed as his mentor
will never, never, never do that.
What is utterly shameful
is that Joseph Prince keeps on saying
that Paul was the one he had learned
all his grace theology from.
But the most grievous thing is to realise that
Joseph Prince is earning the millions
– from preaching the True Gospel?
No!
From preaching the False and Heretical Gospel
that not only does not save,
but it would lead the multitudes to hell.
That is what is nauseating!
It is indeed an abomination
that Joseph Prince is earning the millions
by preaching the False Gospel
that would lead many
that he had earned the money from
to their eternal destruction.
Part 3: Joseph Prince abuses God’s name to contradict His word in 1 Timothy 6:6, “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
In the sermon on 11 Jan 2026, in his Vision Sunday sermon,
Joseph Prince said:

“And another thing that confirms this whole thing is that,
this is chapter 20, right?
And it’s verse,
You are entering into the valley of blessing
where there is so much more, Amen.
You are entering the valley of blessing, Amen.
There is so much more.
You know, we settle for the norm sometimes.
We are very easily satisfied people.
Either we are greedy, alright?
Nothing satisfies.
Greedy actually is not they want so much more.
It’s actually, they’re actually thinking
that they are satisfied with so much more.
No.
God wants us to know godly contentment is great gain, Amen.
We are contented, but great gain is coming
so that we can use it for the glory of God.
Now, I don’t want to think that it’s just in terms
of finances and material blessings,
but I cannot say also that it does not involve that.
Okay? I have no direction from the Lord to say
that it will not involve that.”
First, in order not to expose the greed
of his own Prosperity Gospel teaching
about instigating his people to ask God for much more,
he goes to the extent of twisting the meaning
of what greedy means,
when he said:
“Greedy actually is not they want so much more.
It’s actually, they’re actually thinking
that they are satisfied with so much more.”
The Free Dictionary defines greedy as,
“Having or showing a strong or excessive desire to acquire money or possess things, especially wishing to possess more than what one needs or deserves.”
Collins Dictionary defines greedy as,
“If you describe someone as greedy, you mean that they want to have more of something such as food or money than is necessary or fair.”
Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English defines greedy as,
“always wanting more food, money, power, possessions etc than you need”
Cambridge Dictionary defines greedy as,
“wanting a lot more food, money, etc. than you need”
Isn’t it clear to you that Joseph Prince is such a deceptive guy
that he would go to the extent of twisting the English Language
in order to cover his greed
in his support of his Prosperity Gospel Doctrine.
Let’s look at 1 Timothy 6:5-11:
1 Timothy 6:5-11 NIV
5 and constant friction between people of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.
Second, Joseph Prince quoted the phrase,
“godly contentment is great gain,”
from Paul in 1 Timothy 6:6,
but he went on to say something which is the opposite
of what Paul was trying to convey
in the context of 1 Timothy 6:5-11,
when he said,
“God wants us to know godly contentment is great gain, Amen.
We are contented,
but great gain is coming…”
Paul teaches that,
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. (1 Tim 6:6)
Then, he further explains what that contentment means,
7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. (1 Tim 6:7-8)
In other words, Paul is saying that
even if we have only food and clothing,
we ought to be content.
But Joseph Prince completely overturns
what Paul was trying to convey
when he said,
“We are contented,
but great gain is coming…”
By saying that we are contented,
and then Joseph Prince added,
“great gain is coming,”
proves that he had contradicted what Paul was trying to teach.
Here, in 1 Timothy 6:5-11, Paul was trying to teach
about the evils of greed and the desire to get rich,
which can even result in their spiritual and eternal destruction
(1 Tim 6:9-10),
but unbelievably, Joseph Prince instigated his people
to get more wealth from God, and leading them to destruction,
when he said,
“great gain is coming,”
Joseph Prince was lying when he said,
“We are contented…”
If Joseph Prince is really contented,
why is he totally silent on 1 Timothy 6:8:
“But if we have food and clothing,
we will be content with that”?
And I have never heard him preach on 1 Timothy 6:8
in all his sermons.
This is because 1 Timothy 6:8
goes against his Prosperity Gospel doctrine
that it is God’s will that every New Covenant believer
is to get rich, not just rich but in Joseph Prince’s own words
– very rich as Abraham was.
While Paul was trying to instil contentment
that we should be content
even if we only have food and clothing (1 Tim 6:8),
Joseph Prince enticed his people not to be content,
but to get more from God when he said,
“but great gain is coming”
Next, Joseph Prince abuses God’s name to contradict His word
in 1 Timothy 6:6,
“But godliness with contentment is great gain.”

Now, I don’t want to think that it’s just in terms
of finances and material blessings,

Joseph Prince has abused “the glory of God”
when he said,
“but great gain is coming
so that we can use it for the glory of God.”
I have already proven that in the context of 1 Timothy 6:5-11,
it is the evils of greed and the desire for more wealth
that Paul was talking about.
As such, there is nowhere in the passage that could justify
the asking for more wealth from God
when Joseph Prince said,
“but great gain is coming.”
Hence, when Joseph Prince added,
“so that we can use it for the glory of God,”
he is using and abusing God’s glory
to justify his sinful twisting of scripture.
When Joseph Prince said,
“Now, I don’t want to think that it’s just in terms
of finances and material blessings,
but I cannot say also that it does not involve that.
Okay? I have no direction from the Lord to say
that it will not involve that,”
he is lying.
This is because the passage in 1 Timothy 6:5-11
that he alluded from
clearly teaches against the desire for money
and material and financial blessings:
9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. (1 Tim 6:9)
So, by saying,
“Now, I don’t want to think that it’s just in terms
of finances and material blessings,
but I cannot say also that it does not involve that.
Okay? I have no direction from the Lord to say
that it will not involve that,”
Joseph Prince is clearly abusing God’s name,
as God cannot speak to Joseph Prince,
that it does not include material and financial blessings,
when He had already said through Paul in 1 Timothy 6:5-11,
that He is speaking against the desire
for material and financial blessings.
Part 4: Joseph Prince ‘accuses’ George Muller, his hero of lying
In a sermon on 18 Jan 2026, 3 Sundays ago,
Joseph Prince said:

“You know, George Muller is a great man of faith, Amen.
And he prayed in millions for the orphanages
that he was in charge of.
Back in those days, I have been to his place
last two years, now, it’s 26.
So I was there, alright, and I visit the place.
I saw the orphanages that’s now converted to offices
and homes and all that.
But the buildings are still there.
I even went to his cemetery.
No ritual, don’t worry. Just to take a look.
I said, imagine the rapture if it hits right now.
Me and Muller going up.
Muller goes up, then I go up.
I hope I can shake hands with him.
He’s my hero of faith, Amen.
In another sermon, Joseph Prince said:

“George Muller, one of my heroes of faith.
And George Muller is an amazing man of God.”
Joseph Prince said that George Muller is his hero,
and has even visited his cemetery.
There is nothing wrong with calling someone a hero.
But generally speaking, no one would call someone a hero
unless their core or important teachings are in accord.
But Joseph Prince isn’t even aware
or, he is aware, but pretends not be aware
that George Muller does not hold to one of his core teachings
– his Health & Wealth Gospel.
While Joseph Prince strongly believes
that God will heal everyone who calls upon him,
George Muller doesn’t see this to be true at all,
based on his life and experience.
While Joseph Prince sees a God
who uses sickness to chastise us
as a cruel God,
George Muller sees it, in those cases that he shared,
as a needed chastisement and even a blessing
from God.
The following quotes of George Muller explain it all:
In ‘A Narrative of Some of the Lord’s Dealings with George Muller, Part 1, by George Muller,’
George Muller wrote:
“January 31, and February 2.
These two days we have had
especial (extra special) meetings
for prayer and humiliation,
on account of the influenza,
to acknowledge the hand of God
in this chastisement,
as the disease is so prevalent in Bristol.”
In ‘The George Muller Collection, Autobiography,’
George Muller wrote:
“Should it please the Lord
to lay me on a bed of sickness,
or keep me otherwise by reason of infirmity,
or old age, or want of employment,
from earning my bread
by means of the labor of my hands,
or my business, or my profession,
he will yet provide for me.”
In ‘The George Muller Collection, Autobiography,’
George Muller wrote:
“And to temperance, patience;
that is, to be satisfied with the will of God.
If we have this contentment,
we shall be able to endure tribulation and suffering,
and even bereavement and sickness,
satisfied that it is for the best.”
In ‘The George Muller Collection, Autobiography,’
George Muller wrote:
“Often the Lord is obliged
to allow deadness in business, or bad debts,
or sickness in our family,
or other trials which increase our expenses,
to befall us,
because we do not, as his stewards,
act according to stewardship…
… Beloved brethren in the Lord,
let us take heed so to walk
as that the Lord may not be obliged by chastisement
to take a part of our earthly possessions from us
in the way of bad debts,
sickness,
decrease of business, and the like…”
In ‘A Narrative of some of the Lord’s Dealings
with George Muller, Part 2, by George Mueller,’
George Mueller wrote:
“Jan. 14.
… My soul is now brought into that state,
that I delight myself in the will of God,
as it regards my health.
Yea, I can now say, from my heart,
I would not have this disease removed
till God, through it,
has bestowed the blessing for which it was sent.
… and I and the saints in Bristol
shall have abundant reason
to praise God
for this my illness.”
In ‘A Narrative of Some of the Lord’s Dealings
with George Muller, Part 1, by George Muller,’
George Mueller wrote:
“August 9. After extreme suffering,
which lasted about seventeen hours,
my wife was this day delivered of a still-born child.
… I was often far from being in a spiritual state.
I was not now, indeed,
indulging in gross outward sins,
which could be noticed by my brethren;
but often – very often,
the eye of my kind loving Father
must have looked on me with much grief.
On this account, I have no doubt,
the Lord now, in great compassion,
sent this heavy blow.
… The life of my dear wife was hanging,
as it were, on a thread,
and, in the midst of it,
my conscience told me,
that my state of heart
made such a chastisement needful.
… The Lord now brought, in addition to this,
very great sufferings upon my beloved wife,
which lasted for six weeks,
combined with a partial lameness of the left side.
–Immediately after the eventful time of August 8th and 9th,
the Lord brought me, in His tender mercy,
again into a spiritual state of heart,
so that I was enabled to look on this chastisement
as a great blessing.
May this my experience
be a warning to believing readers,
that the Lord may not need to chastise them,
on account of their state of heart!
May it also be a fresh proof to them,
that the Lord, in His very love and faithfulness,
will not, and cannot let us go on in backsliding,
but that He will visit us with stripes,
to bring us back to Himself!”
George Ong’s Response:
Since George Muller’s doctrine
contradicts Joseph Prince’s Health and Wealth Gospel,
I want to ask Joseph Prince to tell the public,
(since he had declared it publicly that George Muller was his hero,)
whether he would still consider George Muller
to be his hero.
But what is worse is that
Joseph Prince is ‘accusing’ George Muller, his hero,
to have lied or a liar.
In ‘Eat Your Way to Life and Health,’
Joseph Prince wrote:
“And yet people have somehow
believed the lie
that sometimes it is God’s will for us to be sick.
There are even those who claim that
God uses sickness to “chastise” us
or teach us a lesson.
These lies
have robbed His people of partaking
of their blood-bought right to divine health.
These lies
have caused too many believers
to simply accept sickness in their bodies.
… But maybe you are wondering
if the disease you are fighting
is somehow from God.
Maybe you think He is punishing you
for something you did
and that there is a lesson He wants you to learn.
If you have believed any of the lies above,
then you have fallen prey to Satan,
who is the great deceiver
and father of lies (Rev. 12:9; John 8:44 NLT).
His modus operandi is to deceive you,
and his master strategy is to convince you
sickness is actually from God.
I want you to know in no uncertain terms
that your heavenly Father loves you,
and He wants you well.
He does not want your life
to be cut short by sickness,
and it is never His plan for you or your loved ones
to suffer any sickness or disease.
… Don’t ever believe the enemy’s lie
that God wants you sick
or that He is not willing to heal you.
… God is a good God, and He loves us so much.
That is why I cannot understand
why there are those who teach that
God sometimes uses sickness to teach us a lesson
or that we need to “pray hard” for His healing.
… Don’t let man’s conjectures and theories
cause you to believe the lie
that maybe God wants you
to endure the sickness in your body
so you can learn to trust Him more
or grow in patience.”
George Ong’s Response:
Joseph Prince uses the word, lie or lies
6 times in the passage.
He said that those who teach that God uses sickness
to teach us a lesson or to chastise us
is to tell a lie.
So Joseph Prince is effectively saying
that George Muller, his hero, has lied
as that is precisely what George Muller has shared
that God had used sickness to teach him a lesson
and to chastise him on several occasions.
Since this is the case, Joseph Prince needs to clarify
the confusion and irony he has created.
Let me ask you, would you accuse someone,
who is your hero,
that he has lied or he is a liar?
Of course not.
So Joseph Prince needs to clarify in his next sermon
that since he has ‘accused’ George Muller to have lied,
is George Muller still his hero?
Next, Joseph Prince said:

“I said, imagine the rapture if it hits right now.
Me and Muller going up.
Muller goes up, then I go up.
I hope I can shake hands with him.
He’s my hero of faith. Amen.”
George Ong’s Response:
Joseph Prince said that George Muller
would be raptured together with him
as he believes in the Pre-tribulation rapture
– rapture that happens before the tribulation.
Joseph Prince is such an ignorant man
as he doesn’t even know that George Muller
does not hold to the Pre-tribulation rapture,
but the Post-tribulation rapture
– rapture that happens after the tribulation.
In ‘Great Doctrines of the Bible, The Church and the Last Things,
Volume Three’, Chapter 13,
Martyn Lloyd-Jones said:
“I have said that the teaching about the secret rapture
(Pre-tribulation rapture) did not appear before 1830.
… But it was not accepted by B. W. Newton,
nor by Robert Chapman or George Muller.
Many people are not aware
that it was not generally accepted,
even among that circle, and there was a division.
… Shortly before his death, George Muller
was asked whether we are to expect our Lord’s return
at any moment
or whether certain events must be fulfilled first.
This was his reply:
‘… The Scripture declares plainly that the Lord Jesus will not come until the Apostasy shall have taken place, the Man of Sin, the son of perdition shall have been, revealed as seen in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5. Many other portions also of the Word of God distinctly teach that certain events are to be fulfilled before the return of our Lord Jesus Christ…’”
George Ong’s Response:
Since Martyn Lloyd-Jones has vouched
that George Muller does not hold
to the Pre-tribulation rapture or the secret rapture
that Joseph Prince believes,
how can Joseph Prince say that
George Muller would be raptured together with him?
Joseph Prince is obviously ignorant
about George Muller’s doctrine on the rapture.
Since George Muller teaches against
his Pre-tribulation rapture doctrine,
Joseph Prince needs to clarify
whether George Muller is still his hero.
More significantly, Joseph Prince needs to revisit
the cemetery of George Muller,
and apologise to him
for misrepresenting his rapture doctrine in public.
Part 5: While Shawn Bolz’s words of knowledge is by referring to Facebook, Joseph Prince’s words of knowledge is mere guesswork from his own imagination
Shawn Bolz, as exposed by Mike Winger, is a false prophet,
whose words of knowledge
are information that he got from Facebook.

In 5 sermons, Joseph Prince used the word, ‘someone’
to deceive the people that he has the gift of knowledge.
Mind you, this is Joseph Prince’s typical trick
that he still uses very often to this day.
He has not changed an iota.

“Okay, there’s someone here, you’ve been sitting
and you’ve been realising that when you sit down lately,
there is a pain in your tailbone area.
Who is that?
Alright, stand to your feet.
You’ve been having pain in your tailbone area.
And, it’s a sharp pain.
It’s a sharp pain.
It’s a sharp pain.
You feel a sharp pain or a dull pain.
Those with dull pain.
Yours is dull.
You know what’s a dull and sharp pain?
Yours is sharp pain.
Yours?
Sharp pain.
Yours?
Sharp.
Yours?
Okay, looks like quite a number of sharp pain.
You?
Sharp or dull?
Okay, I’m going to pray for the sharp pain.”
Did you notice what’s going on?
Joseph Prince supposedly gave a word of knowledge
in the audience,
that there is ‘someone’ – meaning one person
had a sharp pain in the tailbone area.
But as it turned out,
there were 4 or 5 persons
who responded to that word of knowledge
given by Joseph Prince.
Joseph Prince then tried to do damage control
by qualifying that it is a sharp pain and not dull pain
that he was referring to;
hoping that only one person would say
that he was experiencing sharp pain
while the rest – dull pain.
But when all who stood had acknowledged
that they were experiencing sharp pain,
Joseph Prince had to pretend that nothing was wrong
with his so-called gift of knowledge,
and proceeded as usual to pray for all of them.
You must bear in mind that this is a much smaller crowd
– it is a Server’s Retreat (those who serve in New Creation Church)
as compared to a worship service on Sunday.
And if ‘someone’ could refer to 4 or 5 persons in a smaller crowd
– at a Servers’ Retreat,
it certainly could refer to many more
in a 5,000 Sunday worship service.
(This is not counting a worldwide audience that Joseph Prince’s sermons are broadcast to, as many around the world, who watched online, have so-called testified that Joseph Prince’s word of knowledge that he gave on a particular Sunday, was referring to them.)
Let’s come back to these 5 sermons which I referred to earlier,
and what occurred at the Servers’ Retreat,
when Joseph Prince said, “Someone…”
no one ought to be fooled
as it can refer to anyone or everyone.
It’s not the gift of knowledge;
it’s Joseph Prince’s mere guesswork from his own imagination
– pure and simple
disguised and spiritualised as a gift of knowledge.
No person is named ‘Someone’.
So, Joseph Prince ought to quit using the word, ‘Someone’
and start calling out names
if he really has the gift of knowledge.
In this way,
whether Joseph Prince indeed has the gift of knowledge
can be tested.
Even if Joseph Prince does not call out names,
he should at least call or point the person out
from among the audience
that it is he or she that Joseph Prince is referring to.
Also, we can know for sure,
that the person knows it is truly referring to him or her.
The joke is that in a 5,000-person audience
at a Sunday worship service,
when Joseph Prince said,
‘Someone here has a knee problem
and God is healing you now,’
the ‘someone’ could well refer to many in the audience
with the same condition as he has described.
If Joseph Prince really claimed
to have the gift of knowledge and healing,
he must be more specific.
He must say there is someone
with pain in his shoulder,
and God will heal him,
and his name is Larry Soh (not from Facebook, please).
So, all others with the same affliction of shoulder pain,
who isn’t named Larry Soh,
would know God isn’t referring to them.
If Larry Soh is, indeed, healed,
this would remove all doubt
that Joseph Prince is not making mere guesses,
but he is exercising the gift of knowledge and healing.
I have been watching
Joseph Prince exercising his so-called gift of knowledge
in plenty of his sermons for many years,
but I have never heard him
mentioning a specific name a single time
that that person would be healed.
Naming names would remove all doubt
that Joseph Prince is not making mere guesses
– that what he said about someone with pain in his shoulders
is referring to a specific individual
out of the many with the same problem.
Do you know why Joseph Prince
wouldn’t dare to name names
or, at least, point out the individual person?
He knows he would get it wrong
and that would straightaway expose
his fraudulent claim about his word of knowledge.
Second, it is the habit of Joseph Prince to give
his so-called words of knowledge in many worship services.
I have watched every of Joseph Prince’s sermons for several years,
and I discovered that many of these
so-called words of knowledge given by Joseph Prince
went unaccounted for.
What I meant is that
if these words of knowledge given by Joseph Prince were true
– and he has given plenty of them in his many sermons,
each and every of these
must have a testimony of people healed
according to what Joseph Prince has specifically described.
But what is happening
is that when Joseph Prince finds that one, out of say, 10
of these so-called words of knowledge, he had given
supposedly came to be true,
Joseph Prince would make a big fuss and publicity,
and make sure that the world knows about it.
But as the saying goes,
one swallow does not make a summer.
And what about the rest of the 9 that went unaccounted for?
This means Joseph Prince is lying against the Holy Spirit
when he claimed that it was the Holy Spirit or God or Jesus
who told him that the rest of the 9 were healed.
In other words, there is no conscious effort
on the part of either Joseph Prince or New Creation Church
to track every word of knowledge that Joseph Prince has given
in order to determine their truth or falsity.
And of course,
this is the last thing that Joseph Prince would want to do
as he knows that would expose his fraudulent scheme.
Part 6: Joseph Prince & Darren Sim who consistently preaches half-truths from the scriptures are following the tradition of the devil

if we look at 2 Chronicles,
I encourage you, as Pastor (Joseph Prince)
has encouraged us to read this chapter for yourself.
Right? In 2 Chronicles 20 verse 3, it says,
‘when all the armies were gathered against Him,
Jehoshaphat feared.’
But in that fear, what did he do?
In that fear,
‘Jehoshaphat set himself to seek the Lord.’
So I think Jehoshaphat sets an amazing example for us
that in the midst of fear, the Bible says,
‘he set himself to seek the Lord.’”
George Ong’s Response:
Why did Darren emphasise the half-truth
about what he wants to on seeking the Lord,
and deliberately glossed over the other half-truth
about the fact that Jehoshaphat
“proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.”
2 Chronicles 20:3 KJV
3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.
The reason is simple.
This is because Joseph Prince teaches against fasting
for New Covenant believers.
In Destined To Reign, Joseph Prince wrote:
“Pastor Prince, I would have you know
that Jesus fasted 40 days and 40 nights!”
Well, that was Jesus.
The question we should be asking is,
“Did Jesus tell us to fast?”
Now, I know that when Jesus’ disciples
were unable to cast out a certain spirit from a boy,
the NKJV (as well as the KJV)
Bible does record that Jesus,
in reference to the spirit, said,
“This kind can come out by nothing
but prayer and fasting.” (Mk 9:29)
So people have read this one verse
and concluded that
the secret to spiritual power is fasting.
But do you know that in the original Greek text,
the word “fasting” does not appear in that verse (Mk 9:29)
It was added by the translators!
And if you look at the NASB and NIV translations,
you won’t find the word “fasting” in that verse.” (Mk 9:29)…
Throughout the New Testament,
Paul hardly spoke about fasting.
Yet, the body of Christ has somehow managed
to make man’s own works (like fasting) the main emphasis.
Paul’s emphasis was the new covenant of grace,
but instead of focusing on understanding the new covenant,
people are obsessed with doing!”
George Ong’s Response:
Joseph Prince is not telling the truth.
The truth is different translators translate
based on their judgment
on which is to be the most accurate original text.
Because the original texts differ,
this account for why the word ‘fasting’
appears in some translations
while it may not be reflected in others.
So, it is not the case where translators
added words to the text.
They are faithfully translating
what is stated in the original texts that they are using.
So, Joseph Prince is not only lying
but he is falsely accusing the translators
for something which they didn’t do.
Now, besides the translation issue,
although there are many things to be said
on Joseph Prince’s quote about fasting that are false,
these are not what I want to emphasise,
and, more importantly, also space do not allow me to.
What I want to emphasise
is Joseph Prince and Darren Sim’s consistent and daring act
of deleting the other half-truths in the scriptures
that they do not wish to bring out into the fore
by deliberately glossing over the text or skipping it.

The Bible answer, and I’ll fly through these verses,
you can read it yourself.

for you shall make your way prosperous

George Ong’s Response:
Again, why did Darren Sim deliberately emphasise
the half-truth about meditation
but skip over the other half-truth
of obedience in Joshua 1:8.

Again, the reason is obvious.
This is because Joseph Prince teaches against obedience

But they are mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.
And these strongholds is not up there in the sky

Alright, these strongholds is in our minds.
Casting down arguments and every high thing
that exalts itself against the knowledge of God,
bringing every thought into captivity
to the obedience of Christ.
In other words, what is the ‘obedience of Christ’?
– By one man’s obedience, all of us were made righteous.
The devil wants you to take your mind off
that one man’s obedience
and put your mind back on your obedience
or the lack of it.
That’s warfare,
and you are to demolish all these arguments,
demolish every stronghold, many of them are religious,
and say no, no, it’s not my obedience,
bring your thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ.
It is His obedience.”
Joseph Prince is effectively saying
that it is the devil who wants you to obey Christ,
and that obeying Christ is a religious stronghold
that must be demolished.
In ‘The New Testament, Spurgeon’s Sermons By Each Book.’
Charles Spurgeon said:
“Half the mischief in the world,
and perhaps more, is done,
not by an ostensible lie,
but by a perverted truth.
The devil, knowing this,
takes a text of Scripture,
clips it, adds to it…”
(End of Spurgeon’s Quote)
Joseph Prince and Darren Sim
are all functioning in the devil’s tradition
and following the devil himself,
as they clip
by hiding or ‘deleting’
fasting in 2 Chronicles 20:3
and the obedience to God’s laws and commandments
in Joshua 1:8.
Regarding Joshua 1:8, what’s more significant
is that to mislead you, Darren Sim
(and Joseph Prince himself,
as he has done in his other sermons on Joshua 1:8,)
has also deliberately hidden Joshua 1:7 from you:
Joshua 1:7 NIV
7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
Joshua 1:7 NKJV
7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.
Based on Joshua 1:7 alone,
one is on safe ground to establish
that obedience to God’s laws
is the key to success and prosperity,
and not meditation as Joseph Prince or Darren Sim
has falsely taught.
This is because while obedience to God’s laws
is found in Joshua 1:7,
meditation is completely absent from the same verse.
Also, while meditation is stated in Joshua 1:8,
obedience to God’s laws
is again restated and reemphasised
in the same verse.
From these facts, one could reasonably conclude
that obedience to God’s laws, and not meditation,
is the fundamental cause of prosperity and success.
If we know the history of the Israelites,
what fouls them up
is their disobedience to the laws of God.
Episode after episode in their history
proves that obedience or disobedience to God
was the crux of the issue.
Because of their disobedience to the laws of God,
God had to invoke natural disasters
such as pestilences and diseases to punish them.
God had to resort to using a pagan nation to conquer them
and even exiled them for 70 years in a foreign nation
because of their disobedience to His laws.
So, the context and cause of prosperity and success
in Joshua 1:8
is not merely to meditate,
but, more importantly, to obey the laws of God.
Doing one part of meditation
will not bring about prosperity and success.
It is a necessary but not a sufficient cause.
But, according to the context of Joshua 1:8,
it is when you both meditate and obey,
will prosperity and success come your way.
So, Darren Sim and Joseph Prince
are not only misleading us,
but they are also deliberately deceiving us
that meditation alone without obedience
can bring one prosperity and success.

Part 1: Hebrews Part 4: The Book of Hebrews on the Explanation of Faith (Heb 11:1-3) by George Ong
Now we’ve come to the final three chapters of Hebrews.
We have come to chapter 11.
Chapter 11 is often referred to as the Great Hall of Fame.
It is one of the most familiar, one of the best known,
one of the most loved passages in all of, not just in Hebrews,
but perhaps in all of Scripture.
And now we come to something else that is better,
we’ve come to a better country,
and it is this better country
that both the Old and the New Testament Saints
are looking forward to.
Let’s read some of the verses, Hebrews 11:14-15
Hebrews 11:14-16 NIV
14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country – a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
I don’t know whether you are shocked.
It comes as a shock to me
to realize the people in the Old Covenant
were not just content with the physical land of Canaan,
but they, too, like us, were looking beyond Canaan
for a better country.
They were men and women of faith
because they were looking beyond their earthly inheritance
to a heavenly and more enduring inheritance
because they had faith.
The key theme of Hebrews 11 is faith.
Chapter 11 tells us that
by faith, they did this, by faith, they did that.
And the phrase by faith is repeated 23 times
in Hebrews chapter 11.
And there are tremendous lessons that we could learn
from these Pioneers of the Christian Faith,
and we’re going to cover 3 areas:
I. THE PIONEERS OF FAITH (11:1-40)
1. The Explanation of Faith (11:1-3)
2. The Examples of Faith (11:4-35a)
3. The Excellence of Faith (11:35b-40)
But I’m only going to cover a bit first,
the Explanation of Faith.
We’re going to cover next, the Examples of Faith.
Faith is not an abstract idea.
Faith in Hebrews chapter 11 is not abstract,
but it’s shown to us in concrete examples
in the Pioneers of Faith.
And then thirdly, we’re going to cover
the Excellence of Faith
that faith shines the brightest,
faith is at its best when we continue to trust God
even though we may not be delivered from the crisis of life.
So first, the Explanation of Faith.
The Explanation of Faith.
When a schoolboy was asked by his PE teacher,
what is faith?
He explains it this way. He said,
“Faith is believing what you know isn’t true.”
Of course, that’s not the definition of faith.
A cynical chap editor was asked to explain faith.
He said,
“Faith is the illogical belief
in the occurrence of the impossible.”
Okay, that’s not faith, that’s not the definition of faith.
Now there are very boring preacher was asked,
that puts people to sleep,
that had the gift of healing people of insomnia.
And so he was preaching, and he was trying to explain
the difference between fact and faith.
So he struck upon this idea, he said,
“It is a fact that you are sitting in a pew.
It is a fact that I’m standing behind the pulpit,
but it is only by faith that I really believe
that any one of you is really listening to me.”
I hope you’re still listening to me.
Now, that’s not the definition of faith.
But faith is to have Confidence in God’s Promises,
a Confidence in the Promise, Confidence in the Promise.
I. THE PIONEERS OF FAITH (11:1-40)

Hebrews 11:1
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Hope, now the word hope in the English vocabulary
is a very uncertain word. It’s full of doubt, speculation.
Is it going be a bright Wednesday morning?
Oh, I don’t know, I hope so.
Or is Pastor George going to finish by 10.30 pm?
Oh, I pray hard that he would.
I hope so.
The word hope, is a very uncertain word.
It’s really, I wish, I wish.
But the word hope in the Bible is a strong and sure word.
It’s as strong as a tall skyscraper.
It is as strong as an anchor within the veil.
How are anchors built?
They are not built weak; they are built strong, robust,
in order to anchor a gigantic ship.
So our hope is as strong as an anchor within the veil.
So faith is being sure of what we hope for.
In other words, faith is to be absolutely, absolutely certain.
We are absolutely certain about.
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see it.
Now what are we hoping for?
What is it that we are so certain about
even though we do not see?
The answer is the Promises of God.
In other words,
it means faith is being sure of the Promises of God.
Faith is being certain about the Promises of God
even though we may not have fully inherited it.
Faith is to have Confidence in the Promises of God.
Faith is to believe the impossible, alright,
but it is not just believing in the impossible,
it is really to believe in the Promises of God
because if God has not promised,
you can believe all you want,
it will be presumptuousness.
But if God had promised,
you can stake your life on it.
And so the Promises of God are things
which we have not seen yet,
in the sense that most of these promises are yet in the future.
For example, the promises of heaven is one of them.
Have any of you gone to heaven?
No.
You don’t want to go so fast, right.
Better not go now because I think they closed shop already,
you know, after five.
Now the promises, yet we believe,
even though we have not been to heaven,
but we believe, as though we have seen it
as though we have experienced it.
Let’s listen to Oswald Sanders, a word from the sponsor, okay:
“Faith enables the believing soul
to treat the future as present
and the invisible as seen.”
In other words, faith is to have
the confidence in the future promises of God
even though believers have not yet received
the complete fulfillment of those promises.
Let’s read verse 39. Look at your Bible. Verse 39, chapter 11.
Hebrews 11:39 NIV
39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised,
These were all commended for their faith.
because they received what had been promised?
Is that what it said?
No.
These were commended for their faith,
yet none of them received what had been promised.
But they will receive one day because of verse 40.
Hebrews 11:40 NIV
40 since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.
God had planned, verse 40, something better for us,
so that only together with us would they be made perfect.
One day, we’ll all be in heaven, okay.
So that’s the brief definition of faith.
Number b, Commendation of the Pioneers.
I. THE PIONEERS OF FAITH (11:1-40)

Hebrews 11:2
2 This is what the ancients were commended for.
So we have defined faith
as having the Confidence in the Promises of God
even though we may not have fully inherited it.
And that’s how the pioneers lived their lives.
That’s how the Abrahams, the Noahs lived their lives,
and they were commended by God
because they live with the confidence of the future hope
though they have not fully received it.
You want to be in a place of commendation like the pioneers?
You can be.
In fact, in a sense, we are, alright.
Do you realize that we are in the same position as Abraham
in the Old Covenant
when he believed God could raise Isaac from the dead.
He didn’t see it, of course, we didn’t see it,
but we believe that God will raise the dead one day,
and the dead in Christ will rise,
and we will be resurrected.
Thomas, you know, Thomas the doubting disciple,
he spoke for many people when he said this,
John chapter 20 verse 24 to 29, I’ll just read one verse,
when he said,
until I see the nail marks in his hands,
and put my fingers where the nails were,
and put my hand into his side, I won’t believe (Jn 20:25).
This is a scientific approach to faith.
Did Jesus commend Thomas?
Look at what Jesus said to Thomas.
Jesus said to Thomas,
“Now you have seen and you have believed but blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe.” (Jn 20:29)
Let’s go to Creation of the Planets. Creation of the Planets.
I. THE PIONEERS OF FAITH (11:1-40)

Hebrews 11:3 NIV
3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
Yes, faith is to have the confidence
in the future promises of God.
But faith can also go as far back as into the past.
It can go as far back where science can’t really take us.
Science can only begin to examine the planet system,
the universe, as soon as it appears,
but science can’t go beyond that.
And science is utterly dependent
on the observation of the senses
and making evidence available to the senses in some way,
whether it’s through a telescope or microscope, or whatever,
but science can’t go beyond what it can’t observe.
For example, if somebody were to throw a ball,
a scientist will be able
to observe the velocity of the ball traveling,
how many times the ball bounces up and down,
and make some scientific conclusions,
but he cannot tell you who threw the ball
because he had not seen it with his own eyes.
So no scientist can tell the truth or the untruth
of the first 10 commandments,
of the first 10 words of the Bible:
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth
because these are the statements that go further into the past
that science can’t take us,
and that’s where faith comes in.
It is by faith that we believe that God made something
out of nothing,
that God spoke into matter, and he formed the universe.
It is only by faith that we can believe that.
Do you know that it takes much, much stronger faith,
much more faith to believe
that the world was created by chance,
and the world was created
by a series of astronomical accidents.
I remember telling you, I think in one of the sessions,
do you know that no matter how big you think the earth is,
it is only part of the solar system of nine planets.
And the solar system of nine planets
is only part of the Milky Way galaxy,
and each Milky Way galaxy has got hundreds of billions of stars.
And our galaxy is just one of the hundreds of millions
of other galaxies,
each of the hundreds of millions of other galaxies
has got hundreds of billions of stars.
And it’s just utterly senseless to believe
that the universe came about through a series
of astronomical accidents.
No.
The universe came about because God had made it.
He had created it.
And so by faith we believe the first 10 words of the Bible,
in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
