3 Pseudo-Prophecies of Joseph Prince – By Rev George Ong (Dated 14 Jan 2022)

Don’t miss my brief survey on the occurrence of earthquakes for the last 11 years, between 2011-2021 that at least 7 major earthquakes happened in each and every one of the 11 years. This fact is an embarrassment against Joseph Prince’s prophecy about major earthquakes happening in 2022. Read on…

(This article was also sent to Rev Dr Ngoei Foong Nghian, General Secretary, NCCS office, and for the attention of the Executive Committee Members.)

Introduction

There are 3 parts to this article:

Part A: First, on 9 January 2022, 5 days ago, in a weekly Sunday sermon Joseph Prince prophesied (In the sermon, Prince declared, “The Lord is showing me,” publicly to the world) that wars, rumours of wars and great earthquakes will happen this year in 2022. But Prince’s prophecy is without specifics to qualify as an authentic prophecy.

What is abominable is that in the same sermon, Joseph Prince is stirring up believers to pray against the Lord Jesus’ prophecies about earthquakes, famines and pestilences from occurring. And he lied 155 times against the scriptures that earthquakes, famines and pestilences are not sent by God but Satan (read on for details).

Part B: Second, last year, on 3 January 2021, in a weekly Sunday sermon, Joseph Prince ‘prophesied’ (because in the sermon, he declared “But when God began to show it to me,” publicly to the world) that social distancing may be removed by the middle of 2021, but it didn’t come true.

Joseph Prince may pretend to be humble and claim that he didn’t really call what he delivered on 9 January 2022 and 3 January 2021 as prophecies.

If so, why did Prince declare “The Lord is showing me,” on 9 January 2022 and “But when God began to show it to me,” on 3 January 2021 publicly to the world?

Why invoke the name of God publicly and before the world if Prince is not speaking on behalf of God and prophesying for God?

Part C: Third, what is more disturbing is that on 16 February 2020, Joseph Prince lied that he had prophesied the occurrence of COVID-19 on 19 August 2018.

Part A. Pseudo-Prophecy of Joseph Prince on 9 January 2022

In a weekly Sunday sermon on 9 January 2022, 5 days ago, Joseph Prince said; please click here to view excerpts in the one-minute plus video:

“This year what I received also from the Lord; I have this coming up again and again. And it’s from Matthew 24, when Jesus talks about the end-times. And this is the phrase I received. ‘And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. You will hear of wars and rumours of wars (Matt 24:6).’”

“So there’ll be a lot of sabre rattling. There’ll be a lot of commotion. The Bible says in Luke’s account. And here it says ‘You will hear of wars and rumours of wars.’ People getting ready to go to war. And you’ll see more and more of that as we enter into this year.”

“And another thing is that what I see is that there will be great earthquakes. The part where Jesus talked about. Jesus says ‘And there will be great earthquakes in various places (Lk 21:11).’ Now great earthquake is 7 or more on the Richter scale. Not small earthquakes of average size. Great earthquakes and famines and pestilences. Now this is plague, of course, COVID-19 is here. For sure, this COVID-19 is global. So for sure, it is here. ‘And there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.’ But especially this word, great earthquakes, just jumped out at me.

So let’s pray, let’s pray. You know, I’ll tell you this. I’m one of those that, I don’t want these things to happen. I’m not a prophet that prophesies things and then say that, ‘You know it must happen so that to show that I’m a true prophet.’ No, I’m not one of them. I’m just telling you what I feel the Lord is showing me. I could be wrong, Okay. I’m not saying this is it. But this is what I received. These are the words I have received for this year for the world.

And we need to pray against that happening. We need to pray against all that from coming to pass and destroying people. You know it’s not from God. When Jesus mention all these things (Joseph Prince pointing back to the screen showing the passage of Luke 21:11), you know it’s not from God.”

1. A Prophecy without Specifics has no Authenticity.

Joseph Prince said,

“This year what I received also from the Lord; I have this coming up again and again… And this is the phrase I received. ‘And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. You will hear of wars and rumours of wars (Matt 24:6).’”

“So there’ll be a lot of sabre rattling. There’ll be a lot of commotion… People getting ready to go to war. And you’ll see more and more of that as we enter into this year.”

“And another thing is that what I see is that there will be great earthquakes.”

“But especially his word, great earthquakes, just jumped out at me.”

In a sense, there is no real significance or added contribution to our prophetic understanding of the world regarding Prince’s so-called prophesies of wars and rumours of wars and earthquakes. This is because he, to his own advantage and agenda, has deliberately crafted his prophecies in general terms without the specifics.

So if a war breaks out between any two nations, say between Russia and Ukraine or between China and Taiwan, Prince will say, “What the Lord has shown me has indeed taken place.” Or if a great earthquake takes place in Japan or Brazil or Mongolia or anywhere in the world, he would say, “Look haven’t I told you so.”

The prophecy that Joseph Prince has given is framed in such general terms that he can never go wrong – so that when a war takes place between any two countries, or a great earthquake occurs in any of the nearly 200 nations of the world, Prince could claim full credit for it.

As the saying goes, “The one who generalises, generally lies.”

But to qualify as a credible prophecy, there must be some degree of specificity upon which the authenticity and accuracy of what is prophetically delivered could be judged.

If Joseph Prince’s prophecies are credible, he would have to say something like, “I believe a great earthquake will occur in a certain country in Europe or Asia.” In this way, whether it is a true or false prophecy can be judged. With specifics such a certain country or region, those who are staying in the affected places could be forewarned and forearmed.

But Prince does not state the specifics in his prophecies as he knows very well that he could easily be proven wrong and be discredited. More than that, he is only keen on giving a ‘sure-to-win’ prophecy.

To give a prophecy that wars and earthquakes would happen anywhere in the world just won’t cut it prophetically. It is as good as not saying it.

Furthermore, I have done a brief survey on the occurrence of earthquakes from the internet and I found that between 2011-2021, at least 7 major earthquakes happened in each and every one of the 11 years as follows (a major earthquake is defined as 7 and more on the Richter scale):

During 2021,

there were 3 quakes of magnitude 8.0 or above,

16 quakes between 7.0 and 8.0…

During 2020,

there were 8 quakes of magnitude 7.0 or above…

During 2019,

there were 1 quake of magnitude 8.0,

9 quakes between 7.0 and 8.0…

During 2018,

there were 1 quake of magnitude 8.1,

16 quakes between 7.0 and 8.0…

During 2017,

there were 1 quake of magnitude 8.1,

6 quakes between 7.0 and 8.0…

During 2016,

there were 16 quakes of magnitude 7.0 or above…

During 2015,

there were 1 quake of magnitude 8.2,

15 quakes between 7.0 and 8.0…

During 2014,

there were 1 quake of magnitude 8.2,

18 quakes between 7.0 and 8.0…

During 2013,

there were 2 quakes of magnitude 8.0 or above,

17 quakes between 7.0 and 8.0,

During 2012,

there were 2 quakes of magnitude 8.0 or above,

16 quakes between 7.0 and 8.0,

During 2011,

there were 1 quake of magnitude 9.1,

19 quakes between 7.0 and 8.0,

It is also of interest to note that in the 11 years from 2011-2021, the lowest number of 7 major earthquakes occurred in 2017, while the highest number of 20 happened in 2011.

As for 2022, we are only 14 days into the year and this is the report:

During the past 14 days, there were 11 quakes of magnitude 6.0 or above, 73 quakes between 5.0 and 6.0, 450 quakes between 4.0 and 5.0, 1567 quakes between 3.0 and 4.0, and 3382 quakes between 2.0 and 3.0. There were also 6617 quakes below magnitude 2.0 which people don’t normally feel.

With the above statistics on earthquakes in mind, who is to stop any charlatan from going into the internet and upon the discovery of the same fact that I have found, that at least 7 major earthquakes occurred every year for the last 11 years (2011-2021), comes and tell the Church that he is prophesying that there will be a major earthquake this year in 2022, knowing that, based on the statistics, there is a very high probability that he could be right.

So we don’t need someone like Joseph Prince to come and prophesy about the occurrence of major earthquakes this year in 2022 without stating where it would happen. All we have to do is go onto the internet and we could learn much more about the probability of whether a major earthquake would occur this year. From the above statistics, it would appear that there is a very high chance that at least one would occur in 2022.

Am I against prophecies? Of course not. But the Bible constantly warns us to beware of false prophets, such as Joseph Prince, who are out to deceive many with their pseudo prophecies.

2. Joseph Prince Presents a False Image of Himself.

Joseph Prince said,

“I’m not a prophet that prophesies things and then say that, ‘You know it must happen so that to show that I’m a true prophet.’ No, I’m not one of them.”

Well, Joseph Prince is not honest with the above statement he made. If he is not one of those prophets, why did he claim in a weekly Sunday sermon on 16 February 2020 that he had prophesied about COVID-19 on 19 August 2018 and made huge publicity out of it on YouTube.

The fact that Prince allows his video about this COVID-19 prophecy he claimed to have made (which he lied because he didn’t) to continue to be shown on YouTube that has garnered over 3 million views so far, shows that he is the type of person who wants to be known, as having prophesied the occurrence of events.

To maintain and defend his prophetic image, he is even prepared to keep his lie going even though he was caught red-handed for lying about his prophecy. Please refer to Part C for details and to view the said video.

3. Joseph Prince’s Kiasu Approach (literal translation of ‘Kiasu’ is ‘scared to lose out’ for non-Singaporeans): “Heads I win, but even if it is tails, I also want to win.”

Joseph Prince said,

“This year what I received also from the Lord; I have this coming up again and again.”

“I’m just telling you what I feel the Lord is showing me. I could be wrong, Okay. I’m not saying this is it. But this is what I received. These are the words I have received for this year for the world.”

If Joseph Prince states he could be wrong, why did he say,

“This year what I received also from the Lord.”

“… the Lord is showing me.”

“These are the words I have received for this year for the world.”

Can the Lord show Joseph Prince something which can turn out to be wrong? Can Joseph Prince receive words from the Lord which can turn out to be false?

How can Prince claim that it was the Lord who showed him, and at the same time, say that what he had received from the Lord could be wrong? Can the Lord be wrong or lie about what He has shown to Joseph Prince?

If Joseph Prince has stated he could be wrong, why did he say that it was the Lord who had shown him? What if Joseph Prince was really wrong, does it mean the Lord has spoken or shown wrongly to him?

Joseph Prince is overcompensating the prophecy that he has received from the Lord when he said,

I could be wrong, Okay. I’m not saying this is it.”

What Joseph Prince is effectively saying is

“I am prophesying to you right now what the Lord has shown me and what I have received from Him, but please bear in mind that the prophecy of what the Lord has shown me and what I have received from Him could be wrong.”

Isn’t this ridiculous?

This only goes to show that Joseph Prince has no confidence in what the Lord has shown him. If Prince has no confidence even in what the Lord has shown him that he has to qualify that he could be wrong, why give it publicly and to the world in the first place?

Why the need to drag God into the picture, especially, if Joseph Prince has the hunch that he could be wrong? This is because if Prince were indeed wrong, that would implicate God in a negative and damaging way.

But Prince has his own hidden agenda to bring God into the picture – to give his utterance the prophetic authority – “The Lord has shown me and this is what I have received from Him.” This is because if Prince were right, he would then say, “Didn’t I tell you at the outset what the Lord has shown me was indeed true.” But if Prince were wrong, he would then say, “Haven’t I told you I could be wrong.”

Do you see what’s happening?

This is a classic case of Joseph Prince’s ‘Kiasu’ approach: “Heads I win, but even if it is tails, I also want to win.”

If Prince’s attitude is that he could be right or he could be wrong, and he is rather unsure about what he had said or prophesied, then why say it, and especially in public and to the world, in the first place? If what Prince is saying is that uncertain, why the need then to drag God into the picture, and in the process, abuse and shame His name, if Joseph Prince is proven wrong?

The way out is very simple. Can’t Prince just say “I have a hunch that wars may happen,” or “I have the conviction that a great earthquake would take place.” Period! In this way, Joseph Prince can claim he is not prophesying or making a prophetic statement because what he says comes from his own convictions.

But once Joseph Prince starts to invoke the name of the Lord – “The Lord showed me this or I received that from the Lord”, and he starts to share this publicly and to the world, he cannot hide from the fact, whether he agrees with it or not, that he is prophesying or making a prophetic statement on behalf of God.

4. How can Joseph Prince’s Message or Prophecy for the World be that Uncertain?

Joseph Prince said,

“These are the words I have received for this year for the world.”

Does Joseph Prince know what he is talking about? What Joseph Prince said is no small matter. What he claimed to have received is a message from the Lord for the world. If this is such an important message that could impact the world, Prince has little liberty or leeway to be slipshod about his prophecies. He had better make sure that his message is what he has really received from the Lord.

Because, if Prince is wrong, he may make God a liar in the eyes of the unbelieving world! If that happens, this would be a great stumbling block to the unbelieving world from ever believing in the lying God!

But from the start, Prince was already shoddy about this so-called prophetic message that he has received from the Lord to the world when he said,

I could be wrong, Okay. I’m not saying this is it.”

How can a prophetic message that Prince has received from the Lord to the world be that non-committal and hesitant? How can the world have the confidence in the vacillating message that Prince has delivered? If that is so, why did Prince even bother to give his “I could be right or I could be wrong” half-past-six message in the first place?

I am of course not saying that Prince cannot qualify his message. But once he brings in the name of God (which he has the frequent and flippant habit of doing: “The Lord spoke to me about this and that”), and to qualify what God has spoken to him may be wrong, may mean that he hasn’t really heard from the Lord at the outset.

5. What? Praying Against Jesus’ Prophecies?

Joseph Prince said,

“And we need to pray against that happening. We need to pray against all that from coming to pass and destroying people. You know it’s not from God. When Jesus mention all these things (Joseph Prince pointing back to the screen showing the passage of Luke 21:11), you know it’s not from God.”

I can’t believe this can come out from the mouth of a so-called world-renowned and Christ-centred preacher. Prince is literally asking us to pray against all the earthquakes, famines, pestilences and wars and rumours of wars from happening, when Jesus was the one who had starkly prophesied that such things will and must take place in the light of and before His second coming:

Luke 21:11 NIV

11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

Matthew 24:4-8 NIV

4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

Prince is categorically asking us to pray against what the scriptures have clearly prophesied that earthquakes, famines, pestilences and wars will take place, and against what the Lord Jesus, who had told us that these things will occur before His coming, from happening. Only the devil will thwart the prophecies and purposes of God from coming to pass.

Are you now convinced that Joseph Prince is clearly a tool of the devil to stop what the Lord Jesus, who is God Himself, has said will happen from occurring? If this is so, how can he claim to be Christ-centred and how can he not be a heretic?

6. Joseph Prince Lied 155 times (113 times for pestilences and 42 times for earthquakes and famines) Against the Scriptures.

In a previous article dated 10 January 2022, I have highlighted that Joseph Prince contradicted 113 Bible passages when he said God isn’t the one sending the pandemic because He has no virus to send.

Please click here to browse

“An Exhaustive list of Scriptures Regarding Pestilences & Plagues,”

which lists 113 passages of scriptures that God was the one who sent the pestilences and plagues. This means Joseph Prince has lied against 113 Bible passages because of his view that God isn’t responsible for sending pestilences.

In this sermon on 9 January 2022, five days ago, Joseph Prince said,

“You know it’s not from God. When Jesus mention all these things (Joseph Prince pointing back to the screen showing the passage of Luke 21:11), you know it’s not from God.”

Luke 21:11 NIV

11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

So Joseph Prince is saying that besides pestilences, both earthquakes and famines are also not sent by God.

Let me show you a list of scriptures that clearly states that earthquakes and famines do not come from the devil, which Joseph Prince stubbornly postulates, but they come from the very hand of God.

Please click here to view

“A List of Scriptures Regarding Earthquakes & Famines,”

proving to you that Joseph Prince has lied 42 times as these 42 passages showed that God, not Satan, was the one who was responsible for these earthquakes and famines.

Joseph Prince has, abominably, contradicted about 42 passages of God’s holy word. If this is not the work of a heretic, what is?

Part B. Pseudo-Prophecy of Joseph Prince on 3 January 2021

In a weekly Sunday sermon on 3 January 2021, about one year ago, Joseph Prince said; please click here to view excerpts in the one-minute plus video:

“By the way, back to the type for our present day. Amen? What does this talk about? This, I don’t want to spend time. I don’t want to come near the Gentiles. I don’t want to draw near to the Gentiles. What’s that? Social distancing, isn’t it? It’s a type of, you know, when the Lord showed this to me, it’s a form of social distancing. Peter was practicing social distancing, right?”

“But based on this story, is God gonna do something, Amen, concerning this social distancing thing? Will God cause something to happen that, you know, that everyone will agree we don’t need that kind of social distancing anymore? Could it begin this year (2021)? Middle of this year (2021), because 12 hours, and it was noontime when God gave him (Peter) the vision. Could it be something is going to happen middle of this year (2021)? Something is going to happen middle of this year (2021) or towards the middle of this year (2021). Something is going to happen that will precipitate a greater release. I’m telling you, church, I’m so excited when I saw this, Amen. Let God’s will be done. Amen. Not my interpretation, but God’s will. But when God began to show it to me, and said ‘He’s going to do something…’”

Joseph Prince said at the beginning of last year, on 3 January 2021, that something may happen by the middle of it – that social distancing could be abolished. As we know, June 2021 has come and gone and now we are already into January 2022, but the social distancing issue is still, by and large, saddled with us.

Joseph Prince said,

“What’s that? Social distancing, isn’t it? It’s a type of, you know, when the Lord showed this to me, it’s a form of social distancing.

I’m telling you, church, I’m so excited when I saw this, Amen. Let God’s will be done. Amen. Not my interpretation, but God’s will. But when God began to show it to me and said ‘He’s going to do something…’”

I want you to notice how ‘kiasu’ Joseph Prince is. First, he said,

“… when the Lord showed this to me, it’s a form of social distancing.

“But when God began to show it to me, and said ‘He’s going to do something…’”

Joseph Prince also said,

“Let God’s will be done. Amen. Not my interpretation, but God’s will.”

Let’s reason together – if God is really the one who has shown what He’s going to do to Joseph Prince, it goes without saying that it is definitely His will to want to see it happen. Yet, Prince adds a qualification – that it may be his own interpretation.

I’m sure you are intelligent enough to know what Joseph Prince was up to. Prince was setting up the stage that if social distancing was indeed abolished by the middle of last year, he would take the credit for it because he would claim that it was God who had shown it to him.

But as we know, it didn’t happen; but there is no real loss to his credibility because he can now claim that he had already made the qualification that what he wants may be his will and may not be according to God’s will.

Yet, think with me – how can it not be God’s will when Prince already said

“But when God began to show it to me, and said ‘He’s going to do something…’”

If God is really the one who has shown it to Joseph Prince, then it has got to be His will.

Do you see what’s happening? This guy is a classic double-talker. He is speaking on both sides of his mouth. He is so slippery with his words. What cannot be stomached is this guy is lying.

Since social distancing was not abolished by the middle of last year, his

“But when God began to show it to me, and said ‘He’s going to do something…’”

is a lie. Because the prophecy about the abolishment of social distancing didn’t take place by the middle of last year, it is obvious that God didn’t show it to him which he claimed God did. This is certainly not the kind of preacher that you can trust.

Part C. Joseph Prince Lied on 16 Feb 2020 that He Prophesied about COVID-19 on 19 Aug 2018.

On 16 February 2020, in a weekly Sunday sermon, Joseph Prince claimed that he had prophesied COVID-19 in a sermon delivered on 19 August 2018. However, he actually lied that he prophesied which he didn’t.

His so-called ‘prophecy’ that Joseph Prince claimed to have made in a sermon on 19 August 2018 was not set in the context of another virus (COVID-19) that will take place in the future, but in the context of the Ebola virus in 2018 when he preached the sermon the same year.

For those who have not viewed and also for those who did, to refresh your memory,

please click here to view this video, titled:

“Did Joseph Prince Really Prophesy the Coronavirus in 2018?”

If you have viewed the above video, you would realise that the context of his so-called prophecy which Joseph Prince claimed to have made of COVID-19, was set in the past of the Ebola virus in 2018, and not in the context of another virus (COVID-19) that will take place in the future.

Because of the threat posed by COVID-19, people are naturally anxious for answers. In the people’s anxiety, they have the tendency to grasp for anything that comes.

That’s where Jesus’ warning must be taken seriously – that in the last days, not only will there be pestilences, such as COVID-19, but there will also be many false prophets who will arise to deceive many (Lk 21:11; Matt 24:11).

Joseph Prince is clearly one of these false prophets that the devil has raised to deceive people to receive his false gospel – the broad road gospel that doesn’t save, as opposed to the true and narrow road gospel of the Lord Jesus that saves (Matt 7:13-14).

Furthermore, how can Joseph Prince call the statement he made a prophecy? How can such a ‘by-the-way-kind-of-statement’ qualify to be a prophecy? It has no specifics (please refer to the above video).

That statement that Joseph Prince made can be applied to any kind of virus that could take place in one year or 1,000 years. If the virus occurs in any country, Prince would be proven right. If it happens to a few countries, he would still be proven right. If it affects the entire world, as COVID-19 does, he could still claim he is right, which he did.

Can you see that the way Joseph Prince has postured is that his ‘prophecy’ can never be proven wrong? A prophecy has to be more specific and definite. Or else how can one judge whether a prophecy is true or isn’t? If a prophecy is so flippant, general and wishy-washy, that anything could be proven right, it is no prophecy at all.

But the worst issue I wish to highlight is Joseph Prince’s lying character. Even though Joseph Prince was caught red-handed and with his pants down by me that he had lied about prophesying COVID-19 (and this is not the first time I had caught him lying), he, daringly, allowed the lie to continue, by keeping the video on YouTube (see below), which has now garnered more than 3 million views, and deceiving these millions of people that he had correctly prophesied the occurrence of COVID-19.

Please click here to view this video, titled:

Joseph Prince Prophesied The Coronavirus In 2018” Dated 4 March 2020.

In summary, the track record of Joseph Prince about his prophecies is as follows:

First, he lied about a prophecy he had given on COVID-19 on 16 February 2020.

Second, his ‘prophecy’ on 3 January 2021 that social distancing may be abolished by the middle of 2021 didn’t materialise.

Third, his prophecy on 9 January 2022 contains generalities without the specifics. But what is worse is he is stirring up believers around the world to pray against what the Lord Jesus had already prophesied about earthquakes and famines, which must occur before His second coming, from taking place.

Prince also lied 155 times against the scriptures when he said that earthquakes, famines and pestilences do not come from God but Satan, when there are at least 155 Bible passages that state God was the one who had sent them.

If what I have detailed in this and many other previous articles, do not convince you that Joseph Prince is a false prophet and a heretic, nothing else will.
